And thats a very good point there Playwithfire. In a game that was a disaster, he was the only one that earned his ticket (along with Beckham) even playing 45mins. He pulled off  a couple of crackers that he had no right to make.

Any thoughts on Edgar Davids, despite his age he impressed me in the Beckham game, whatever happened to the rumours flying round about his interest in the A-League?

Tony's latest blog sounds promising;  http://www.wellingtonphoenix.com/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=26960

Sounds like a fair bit of spade work has gone in to lining up options before the trip - fingers crossed they can seal a couple of deals.

Good luck lads !!!

I think it's great that Tony P is taking the time to speak to the fans, keep us informed and manage our expectations like his is with these updates from the UK.

There are lots of other sports organisations that could learn from this example.

apart from their on-field ability, is getting to understand them as people. It is imperative that any player we bring back to Wellington fits into the club environment and understands the philosophy behind what we do. We do not want a player however talented who is a disruptive influence in the changing room.
wonder who he's refering to...

Maybe not a statement about someone in particular but what they are looking for in general.
Fairly obvious stuff, whos going to look for someone who IS a disruptive influance anyway.
He's giving us crumbs of air till the deal/s are done.

"KILLEN GIVEN 'COMPASSIONATE' LEAVE"

Norwich manager Bryan Gunn has confirmed Chris Killen has returned to Scotland and will train with parent club Celtic.

The New Zealand striker has made just four appearances for the Canaries since signing on loan in January and has fallen behind Carl Cort, David Mooney, Alan Gow and Cody McDonald in the pecking order.

Gunn told the Eastern Daily Press: "He is still contracted to us and we can call on him in the next eight games.

"But it is a convenient thing to do and a compassionate decision.

"It's better than him travelling around the country every weekend and watching from the stands."

Killen will not be able to play for Celtic during his time back in Glasgow.

Norwich obviously don't want Killen. And I recall he wasn't getting much game time at Celtic.
Will this now make him an affordable/desirable target for the Nix?

Killen would be a great signing if he wants to come.

How cool would that be - two Wellington lads (Killen & Leo) ripping it up with another Wellington boy (Costa) to come off the bench.

Apparently Killen was useless in the handful of appearances he got for Norwich. Every time I have seen him play he hasn't been very good.

That's because you wouldn't feel worthy of owning any of it and would relish the opportunity to name drop me as your former coach!

should have signed Sasho

TWO goals from Newcastle striker Sasho Petrovski has handed the Jets a valuable 2-0 win over Ulsan Hyundai in match day two of their Group E Asian Champions League fixture at EnergyAustralia Stadium in Newcastle on Tuesday night.
