Caceres injured for this week. We havent seen Diego since he got subbed at half time once.

So, when is McGlinchey off contract at the Mariners?

Phoenix could do with his ground-passing skills, to help get Greenacre the football.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before but could somebody in the know tell me when Fred comes off contract with DC United?

Yes, we need a Fred update. Without a creative force in that central midfield area, I fear this is going to be a looooooooong season.

He has another seson on his deal at DC United if they action the clause, as they did this season.

DC have one more regular season match to play on Saturday and they are tied up in a battle with Tony Lochhead's old side the New England Revolution and Toronto for the final play-off spot.  At this stage the other two would sneak in ahead of them as they have more wins.

Interestingly enough the deciders might well be kiwis with Duncan Oughton's Columbus Crew and Andy Boyens Red Bulls both playing matches against these sides in the final round.  By Sunday we'll know if DC make the play-offs, then it comes down to if Fred fancies a loan or not.

Fred and Oughton were unused subs when DC beat Columbus last weekend.

I keep hearing that we are in talks with him but how true that is and what the content of these talks are who knows.

I will be hugely pissed off if some other A League outfit steals him from under our noses. Offer him the keys to the city, free rides on the cable car, anything, just please get him here.

What a team the Crew is, They will win and then Fred will be down here hopefully.

Hope he can come down. Would love for Terry to splash out and actually buy Fred. He is what we need, and what we need now. Please Terry. I pledge $50 to the cause

Squad Next Season (Currently)
GK: Paston, Crowther
Defence: Muscat, Durante, Lochhead, Sigmund
Midfield: Diego, Brown, Bertos, Lia, Daniel, Rojas, Bertos, Hearfield
Forwards: Ifill, Greenacres

Total: 16/23.

McKain hopefully will make it 17 but if not Aaron Scott would be a cheap replacement. Then you go on from there....

I'd like to see  The Barron and Scott come in, straight replacements for Mulligan and Ferrante probably.
You know we belong together...

i wouldnt mind that and I actually expect it but would rather have two who will step it up and be starters or very close to that. Otherwise sign up the under 20's.

Oh and before I forget..

New Speculation..
if Fred doesnt get the green light..
there are other creative midfielders
even other creative Brazilian midfielders..

what about this guy as guest:

or if Fred does come, then why not sign him full time and have both of them?

Pretty sure Paston, Crowther and Hearfield don't have deals for next season yet.

re-sign the two keepers - unless we can find ourselves out of the blue a brand new keeper.

Hearfield is interesting. We've been putting a lot of time into this kid and would like to see some results from him. wouldnt mid him being re-signed. But i really want to see our recruitments either youth, or starters.

And the loss of McKain is big, but with Sigmund and Durante, we have a reliable backline, and a youth CB filling out the other spot. McKain played really great against Melbourne though so who knows with him.

We haven't lost McKain.  We just have not re-signed him yet.  I'm sure he'll talk to other clubs but he likes it here so unless they offer more money or are outside the A-League he's a good chance to stay.

Hearfield ?  Meh.

Slightly off subject, but I think it's relevant: Where are we at with the reserve team for next season?

It's great to sign promising players, but if they don't make the starting lineup, how are we going to keep them match-ready, and chart their progress?

Was just told by a friend that an Austrian guy is coming to live with her over the summer and is going to play for the Phoenix? Could be someone making up lies, but anyone heard any other Austrian based rumours? Also, are we allowed to bring anyone in other than guest stints at this stage of the season?

Elliott or Boyens for a guest spot now MLS is finished?

OK, Fred would be better, but Elliott would be handy.

We could still do with his creatvity in the middle, we are one-dimensional on attack, 6-0 win or not.

Wow imagine Daniel, Fred, Bertos, Ifill. All dangerous and creative. would mean the axing of one of our stellar midfielders though.  Still, Fred is a better player than the majority of the League so would easily slot in.
