I would rather have Elliot and boyens come in on loan than get another Aussie short term.

"Wellington are also looking at an Australian player and could make a move this week." You read right.

I think we'd be looking at another striker. So any guesses as to who is

a) a Striker

and

b) Australian?

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a Defender. We don't exactly have a lot of cover.

exactly, but think everyone would be trying to sign him.

gotta be another aussie striker that is about to come off contract and that is playing well enough to get Ricki's attention.

No!

The article today in the paper quotes Ricki looking for cover at Center Back as an Injury replacement for Jonny Mckain.

"Musa impressed Wellington goalkeeping coach Jonathan Gould at the recent Napier under-19 tournament and he was invited to play a training match against Team Wellington last week."

Someone who is versatile and can play left back and centre back would be good. If they could also play centre forward that would be marvellous. I don't ask much!

I see Benny Mccarthy wants to leave Blackburn in January. Marquee player anyone? Even though he is 31.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

i have seen j musa play he is a good player and if he defends like his old man does will be good, but do not rate him at the level the phoenix play maybe in a few years he will be worth looking at.

Awfully young for an A-League centre back but he was impressive last week against team Wellington playing the full 90.  Certainly one for a youth team if it ever gets off the ground.

He is good.... but this season was playing two leagues below Central League. That league isn't nessisarily that good... I'm in that league!!!

I think they are simply interested in finding their own talent now so that when the youth league is set up, there weont be complaints that they are jut going to steal all the other NZFC youngsters

Haha, any league that i'm good enough to play in is a pretty poor league!

http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/115926,aleague-snub-for-roberto-carlos.aspx

dont know if this is mentioned anywhere, but I feel like Roberto Carlos is one of the few names in world football that could actually draw decent numbers to Wellington. Most of the younger generation will still remember him and he would be a nice addition to our squad. Too bad no one was looking to take him. He must have been asking for heaps

I think it's been shown that these big money faded stars aren't worth the bother, it creates a circus around the team (Jardel), you have issues with selection if they aren't playing well (Romario) and there isn't any guarantee that they'll be a hit on the park (Romario again).  Plus when everyone is tightening the belts it's not the best use of 300k when they can't play in teh finals

That is probably a concern of the other NZFC sides in having a nix youth side in their competition to be honest. Would you rather be playing for say, waikato,or for the nix reserves getting a look in for a pro contract every week?

Allegedly

Yeah I totally agree with that, but at LB I wouldnt mind seeing him bump off Lochhead. And at the level he is playing now, he definitely has the skill to be a hit on the park. But yeah not worth the cash at all, guest stints do create a bit of a circus which is why we aren't seeing too many of them I guess

Though I suppose Adelaide did get some publicity in Brazil because of the Romario signing (even though he was horrible) and it probably contributed to getting Cassio/Alemao/Cristiano. I kind of hope that the league is past that kind of signing though.

That article is just his agent trying to get money.

Exactly - which is why it is great if the nix can scope out their own young talent like this kid to keep everyone happy. There will still be the young guns moving to the capital, but hopefully not too much of a drain.
A positive could be that the youth who arent in the nix team, will be  fired up to prove themselves against the youth team so there will always be a challenge

Valeo - yes having re-read it there's only two people who stand to benefit from his suggestion and that's the players he's hawking and the agent himself!

And he wants the FFA to help to fund clubs to bring 'star' players over.  Does anyone else see a slight problem with that?

I want the FFA to buy me a playstation too, if they're handing out the dosh, but some other folk might complain.

A centre forward to consider in HK's South China AA Club. His last price tag is about $90,000 at least. If Tottenham hotspurs doesn't nab him, someone else will. South China says that he is not for sale and is only on a football knowledge exchange with Spurs.

I'm ok with you getting a Playstation if I get one too.

(Which is probably the way that the A-League clubs will view the matter.)
