Phoenix Transfer - speculation

Just looking over some MLS contract details.  Two main points:

1.  Fred was earning over US$200,000 at DC.  Assuming that the offer from the 'Nix was at all credible, it must have been in that ball park.  (After all, the current story is that Fred stayed for a Green Card, not money.)  From this, I take it that the club is prepared to lay out a fair spread of cash in January.

2.  MLS is at serious odds with the Player's Union right now.  There's talk of a player strike (won't happen, but it's a sign of serious discontent).  If the players get done over, there could be some tidy players looking to ply their trade in a friendlier labour market.

Apart from saying we need another goalie and NZ doesn't have the goalie's he wants, has Herbert hinted at buying more players during the transfer window?

Necevski played for the Knights according to wikipedia.  I don't remember him, it must have been in our first (miserable) season.

come on you people who know some serious 'sauces'..we need some (believable) gossip here!
Please let's stop all the bullocks about Viduka, Eto'o etc, let's concentrate on who is actually having a shot at playing for the nix.
Tony P, I know you're probably on the phone 24/7 at the moment, but give us a hint!

Well, with the US being in off-season and the propencity for them to get loan deals in the off season I am pretty sure we'll be looking over there. MLS is a much higher standard then here so things might be looking good me thinks. Just hurry please and apease the fans. Toffeeman2009-12-14 10:27:33

Its no longer a problem.

ahahah well the article may be a new one but I'm sure we've been talking about Reddy on here before. Judging from the article it sounds like a done deal.

Oh yeah, I think people were just speculating about options. Now it does sound like he will come over. Thoughts ? Would he start over Crowther ? I'd probably prefer him, I don't like Reddy but I'd prefer him to Crowther.

Well, still positive we actually have something to speculate over. Reddy would alright I guess.

Reddy has been great over the last few seasons and not sure how McMaster got ahead of him. Would be happy to see him at the 'Nix

Its no longer a problem.

I think McMaster got ahead of him maybe partially because he was leaving, and I don't think he gets on well with Ange Can't Spell Your Last Name.

Matt Acton as the article says, was on the bench for them when Reddy was injured for a few months. I'm sure they could bring him in until seasons end.

To be honest when he's coming on a short term deal I think it more matters if he is decent rather than if he is a cock surely. If he was on a three year deal, like Sydney have allegedly got him, then you start to look into personality. But for a 6 week stint I'm just happy for someone who is decent.

He's not starting for Brisbane cos he hasn't been decent this year. Crowther is beginning to show potential. He still likes to go walk about, but i'm ok with him in goal at the moment.

Perhaps just on poor terms with them.

Theo was signed as number 1 and then had the horror 7-1 loss and now I don't think he has been seen since, still at the club though. Could be a potential loan deal but it's looking like Reddy.

Theo for a loan would be good.  I think he will be released early as his manager does not like him.  And not turning up to games would not help that reputation.  Would be a great one to keep an eye on.

A-League teams will definitely be interested in him for next season. Fury may want a new keeper, Brisbane may look into him. The Heart may be keen also. But I agree, don't think he'll be at Norwich much longer.

I know wikipedia isnt always reliable at the best of times but Liam's Reddy's page syas that he has been released by Brisbane and has joined Sydney. Can't be right can it as I haven't seen this anywhere else?

I think he is joining Sydney for next season. When Bolton may go to Heart. So between now and then he is either sitting on the bench at Brisbane or coming over here for a few weeks I think.

I wonder how long it'll be before the deal is sorted?

on FoxSport news today they said that Greenacre should only miss the next 2 games, and not 4-5 as previously thought. That probably means we will not get anyone in?
So at this point, do you think Reddy will be the only player to join the Nix? or are we still going to get someone during the January transfer window and/or a guest player?

I still think we need another striker during the January transfer window. Maybe bring someone in now as injury cover for Greenacre and then if he is the goods sign him up during January.

Its 2 weeks though, I'd be surprised if we could find anyone worth it in that time. Imagine we will sign a goalie but that will be it.

Yeah true, well, in the January transfer window I think we definitely need to get someone. We have two free spaces in our squad, so why not use them.

Can A-League teams contract players from other club's youth teams? Because lots of the clubs are able to bring in their young guns from the NYL but can we sign up someone at any point of the year too? I would think no but maybe  not??? playwithFire2009-12-15 13:39:13

Reddy is one of the worst keepers in the league. Wouldn't be much of an improvement over Crow

Hopefully, Reddy is being brought in to replace Gould on the bench.
