Who cares if there's rain, still be good fun.

And Mr. Incredible, after the colossal amount of bitching about Palmy I figured you miserable lot would be happy not to go there again.  Apparently not.

But I want to attend ; I want to support my team.

I understand the stadium issue and that isn't the fault of the club. However, I don't think it's very fair on supporters to have to spend hundreds of dollars to get to games when there are cheaper, easier-to-get-to alternatives.

As yet no one has given me a good reason why this game couldn't have been played in a venue which is far cheaper to get too such as Palmy or Napier.

For myself = yes
For missus = yes
For 6 year old = yes - (he's a pretty hardy fan...)

For 3 year old? No. Lack of covered tickets is an issue.

It'd be nice to know if there is any cover before commiting to ferry tickets, hotels etc before the weather forecast is know- if the weather was iffy, and if you turn up early and sit right at the back, will there be nominal shelter?

Roof doesn't cover the seats where we are sitting however. Like the other stand it only covers those higher up (both ticket and status)

Hmm, thanks for the info. I wouldn't mind paying more to guarantee covered, of course, but i imagine a box is out of the question

Man up. $300 woopty do. I've prob spent atleast 2k on travel to see Nix games as I'm either in Nelson or CHCH. Count yourself lucky that you spend most of your time in Wellington. They're "my team" as well.

Th CHCH game will give the biggest crowd of the season. I wonder how long it will take for the stadium people to open up more of the stands..Drewy2010-01-18 20:59:32

Well they are going to open up more of the stand I reckon, which would mean some seats will be under cover. It's just weird how they are unallocated seats and we'll just turn up and sit anywhere.  What has YF got sorted for their area?

I'll be pissed off if general admission tickets don't allow you into the Fever zone. As the lady at Ticketek was convinced they would..

I would have spent similar traveling from Christchurch before I moved from there...

I'm tempted to do that for my Honours year aye.
You're flying down I presume? I've got the joys of a 7hour bus ride to get down there on matchday

Easy everyone.  People have different incomes and budgets.  They are no less fans if they can't afford to go down for budget reasons.

And Mr Incredible, I assumes it is because they want to award ChCh for the good support they have had when they have been down there before.  Also, McLean Park is in use for the U19 Cricket World Cup.

Then don't f**ken come you whinging c**t.

In fact I'll expand on that, in the hope that this sort of thing becomes a 'once a season initiative' rather than a one off because AC/DC are coming to town, I'm gonna rally up some Christchurch support to head up to Wellington for the 'Nix home games. Possibly even ring Air NZ and see if they're willing to throw something at it if we get enough support.

Respect that. But it annoys me that Mr Incredible is not coming because CHCH is a "racist sh*thole"

On the tickets i got this morning there isn't seat numbers. SO i'd advice getting there a good 45mins-60mins early and grab some covered seats

Yea, racism exists in pretty much all cities but from personal experience it's a lot more prevalent in Christchurch. Not that this has any real relevance to the thread....

No offense to Christchurch fans but the game down there is just a hassle. It is good to spread the Phoenix effect around the country, but this is our best chance to get in the playoffs ever and with a home and away record like ours it seems absurd to give up a ROF home game for anywhere else. The nix have their hardest week of the season, with 3 games in 8 days or whatever and instead of coming home to Wellington where they are unbeaten in 16 games they travel even further down to CHCH.

I know that this was seemingly unavoidable due to ACDC but just for future seasons I don't really back it. Pre-season maybe, especially if CHCH can deliver solid crowds. The business end of the season doesn't really seem like a good time to be trying to recruit fans in other cities and I really feel we could break 10k in Wellington if we finally got a sunny matchday haha.

Honestly, how long is the argument going to go on for.  I really think it is time to move on.

ACDC is on, the Management want to spread the good word of the Phoenix, and we've known this was happening for 6 months or something like that.  Even Ricki Herbert says  the Phoenix are a "national product that plays out of Wellington" http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/3221721/Phoenix-chief-aims-to-top-rugby

So it's time to suck it in, move on and support what will be a great day out.

If you want to blame someone, blame the FFA for not being able to organise a draw that has us playing away from home when the stadium is unavailable.

I assume Wellington Phoenix have the option to forfeit home advantage if necessary, so really an 'away home' game is probably still a better way of doing things

Big big call.  How much would you need to be paid, above costs, to go?

If I could be flown in directly before the game and then flown straight out again I would take $1,000. If I had to stay there any longer, the rate would increase markedly.

Wow.  If I had my costs covered I'd bowl in there for free.  Then again I've never experienced Chch so putting such a low price on it could be a mistake

RIGHT ON CHOCNUT!!!

Actually the whole draw is a farce. In just about every other football league in the world they find it easy to have a home match followed by an away match. the fans get the habit of a home game every fortnight. Not the A-league. The schedule has been designed by a moron. Clumps of away games followed by clumps of home games.....its not that difficult to organise.

If the FFA get the schedule out early and the Nix book the ROF then maybe we could avoid the ACDC type clashes in the future. I hope the ChCh crowd get out in big numbers and make lots of noise coz it may be their last chance to host a game.

The fact is Ricki and every player interviewed said they love playing at the ROF, its their fortress. We have not lost there since Oct 08. Why give away that advantage?
