Hi everyone.

First of all a HUGE thank you to everyone who has put in behind the scenes efforts in support of this game. I'm often attributed to much of the work, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without being able to call upon (hassle?) Otagolad and a few others from time to time.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Longroom tonight - it was more than I personally expected, and more than the venue had originally predicted too. Thanks for your support which goes a long way to being able to do it again in the future. Cheers to Clare and all the bar staff.

Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets from me in the Yellow Fever group - turned out to be a great way to concentrate 40+ of us within the Zone which was filled with a lot of casual fans. You guys were great. Awesome to meet you all and I saw many of you were still celebrating at Craft when I drove past at around 2am

A special mention to Patrick who came up with the orange signs idea and to I-i-iffy for refining the idea into a "2" with reversible "3". Could have backfired on us but there was nothing much to lose and I think it looked great on TV (or so I've been told?).

No thanks to Dewhurst who apparently said that the "2" signs represented "22" for the number of Ifill goals for the club....... Piney shows his class once again by researching on Yellow Fever forums. Needs a job at Sky really but I don't think they can afford to pay him what he's worth.

And of course thanks to the PHOENIX. I didn't dare believe this might happen but you guys were great tonight. Both on and off the field - as always. You hooked me in with the gracious and unhurried way that you've dealt with me as a fan, and I'm happy to repay that to you with my interest in your endeavours, as well as doing anything I can to promote the club to those in the Southern region.

Have a safe flight to Melbourne in the morning. I suspect I'll still be in bed when you leave. See you next Friday at the Ring of Fire!

The DP wouldn't let a good " gag " in the headline get in the road of the facts, would they?

I'd forgotten how friggin dull Fred is on the Sky commentary. Just goes on an on about his interpretation of the way the teams play generally. How about you commentate on what is happening? You don't hear english commentators prattling on like he does.

simply the best game tactically we've played all season. Ricki had clearly given the lads the instructions to let the roar play with the ball in their own have, shut down the options up top and hit on the counter - executed perfectly.

Just back into Welly after 5am wake up call in dunedin after getting back to Hotel sometime after 2... Absolutely brilliant night, Lads were fantastic all 14 in the squad MOTM this week. Barely able to talk this morning.

Thanks also to the two Brisbane lads, great guys who took all the ribbing in great spirit.

Frank van Hattum at Craft bar absolutely stoked and sing Nix praises. He was there till well after one as was Gareth.

Brilliant stadium, would gladlty roll it up and bring it up here.

Thanks to all for a fantastic night and even though been said before Thanks to Ahmad and the rest of the Southern Chapter!

Anyway. If anyone could find me a full replay of the game online, I would be forever in their debt.

Epic win...well done lads.

Ifill stayed on too long (sub strategy debate again?) but he is, after all, a Demi-God.
Leo looked tired, but made some good efforts.
Was Tim Brown on the pitch?
Warner made a crucial save and looks better and better.
Siggy and Manny just legendary.
Andy is without doubt THE BEST captain in the league.
For all the nay-sayers, Nicky Ward is still improving, with brilliant interaction with Ifill.
Crowd was a little disappointing- did anyone else notice the acoustics? It sounded like a public indoor swimming pool....weird. Still, the RoF will be a bit more full after this result.

Last but not least.....

Hats (shirts?) off to Ahmad. You da man

EDIT TO ADD- Griffiths. VERY impressed.....

Great result, haven't seen Brisbane play worse over the last year and a half though. Dozens of completely stupid passes were intercepted. Our players should gain a bit of confidence from that, if we could pick up a result in Melbourne it would be a great week.

Credit to Griffiths (and Ricki for picking him), I thought it was pretty silly playing him at left back but he looked quite comfortable, very surprised Brisabane didn't attack him though. Our entire defense has been pretty strong this season.

Interesting to hear comments about the acoustics from people here - I am sorry I don't know who was there and was was watching on TV. Grandadi do your "indoor swimming pool" comments refer to what it sounded like on TV?

At the ground we do hear a bit of an echo sometimes but then we weren't entirely sure if that was an echo or a chant from another part of the ground (though most of the crowd was pretty quiet).

I wondered about the acoustics but Ricki gave us a wave when we asked, and when I asked him later in the night he said he could hear us loud and clear (he was in front of the stand directly in front of us).

I don't think last night has quite sunk in yet. Was pretty surreal. Glad you got home safely sthn.jeff even though you had to get up at an ungodly hour!

Yep, this was on TV. When I was there before you couldn't make this out for the ambient noise around you, and of course with that rugby stuff everyone just sits around and mumbles, so you'd never be able to tell...............

Someone last night said the first half on TV sounded quiet/drowned. Improved in 2nd half and could hear chants.

We did nothing different (although I think some may have had more to drink by this stage?).

Which makes me wonder if Sky fiddled with levels/mics. Fever at RoF come through loud and clear these days even as crowds have declined which made me think a mic may be directed at the Zone at Wellington.

totally agree prof I bet there will be more than one A league coach reveiwing the tape of that game.

Ang is going to have to come up with some new tactics or the lost run will continue unabated.

Agree with the comments that we had the game plan last night, but I think the Roar's speed of ball movement and player movement off the ball was what helped them to their unbeaten run. That speed and movement created options for them and it just wasn't there last night. They looked like a shadow of the team that was tearing this league up not that long ago.

Great win for us. Just hope Ifill's injury isn't too bad

Not so sure we should get too carried away. Playing a defensive counter attack game against superior possession teams is nothing new. Brisbane have done really well playing that game and have been exposed to these tactics dozens of times. They lost last night because they were simply too inaccurate.

I actually think their biggest weakness is against teams that play a pressing defence well. They just seem so unpragmatic they will try and pass it out of their own box without ever looking for a longer or safer option. You could afford to leave just 2 back on halfway and push everyone else up if the two you left back were quick enough.

For us though I think the tactics were correct. We need to have a plan b if we go behind though.

I'm guessing this will be the last time the Nix play dunners based on that crowd.

Dunners was a regional game - FFA determined the date.

I'm sure that if the Nix were to consider Little Edinburgh again as a home game it would be a Saturday game during the school holidays and no hint of Bon Jovi on their 5472th come back tour.

i'm sure it would be during the uni year. O-week anyone?

I don't know the dates for the season, but if the phoenix played during the week of o-week, got into the promotional fliers etc then you could see a crowd of 15k.

they pack out carrisbrook during o week because they have student specials and it's heavily advertised.

if they wanted to come back to Dunedin that would be the time to do it.

I don't think anyone from Wellington could criticise the crowd. 4600 for a midweek game in December in a city of 110,000 with no students in town is what you would expect. Wellington, with a greater area population of 300,000 plus, only pulled in 1400 more(6030) for our last game on a sunny weekend.

I had heard before the game they pre-sold about 6000 tickets. If that was true, why did those extra people not show up?
