Combo of draw, plus stadium unavailability.

Pah-lease. No other club has that problem, if the stadium is unavailable on a given week, they're given an away game or play a day or 2 before/after. A big part of it is nix management taking games away.

Its not stadium unavailability, there is sweet bugger all at the stadium over this break. Our home games have just been relocated on an NZ tour, and there is the draw.
Besides Provincial Rugby finals there isn't anything on at the stadium after this match until the All Whites.

You're living in a dream land if you think the FFA give a fk about us.

Anyway, whatever the reasons, it's irrelevant to Round 1...

The times for the away (home) games are around the choices of dates in those locations.

Christchurch is to kick off cup week and piggy-back on the prmotion of that.  Napier is aligned with Under-19s.  If you want to maximise revenue you have to chose those wekends if you are determined to play away.

It is stadium availabilty. Turf renovation window then AW quaifier + cricket end of November. While I'm here, I heard this morning that 9,300 tickets have been sold. Looking at a decent crowd.

Sounds promising. Hopefully we get a reasonable day weather wise and we get a few more casual punters rock up.

Ok, I'm wrong then :p.
So we can expect less than 3 games taken away next season? I doubt it, but am happy to reserve judgement until then.

Probably a mix of availability and what HN said. The stadium definitely push for a turf reno period either side of winter. The Nix have managed to fit in their away games with some other events in those centres at the same time yes, but I'm not convinced that is 100% the reason they chose those weekends in those places.

Season ticket holders get discounts for extra ticket purchases, right? How do I do that - can I buy at the gate or online, or is there some sort of epic f*ckaround with ticketek required?

I find it hard to believe that the club/stadium and/or FFA could have worked something out. I know the owners want to make money (fair enough)

BUT, having been a season ticket holder since season one, I have never felt so pissed off with the club. It's the longest off-season in the world (or it sure feels that way) and then they come back to the fans for one week then fuck off til December.

I grudgingly accept that away games in NZ might make some more money but treating the Wellington fan base with a bit more thought in terms of the timing of their infidelity might be something that the owners wan't to think about.

Normally, this close to the start of the season I'd be talking up the club at work, wearing the scarf most days and the shirt on Fridays, tweeting it up etc etc

this season, nah - not until after the December return - if at all.

(and don't expect fans to be rational - we are not)

I am generally considered one of the grumpiest men in Wellington football, but I think you're way off the grumpy deep end here.

We don't have much control over the draw, a bunch of things conspire against us, and it makes quite a bit of sense what they've done. The Napier game should go off I think, and you can get up there for the whole weekend with us for under $200.

I don't think most Fever fans are on board with your angry here.

But I am far from the right person to tell you that you can't be angry :)

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

It's the third game in Auckland that annoys me. Kind of takes away from the 2 months the stadium is out of action as an excuse. It means they find it acceptable that nearly a quarter of games are out of Wellington.

Am I the only one putting Bathurst before the Nix? My excuse though is that I don't live in Wellington otherwise I would watch the race until game time. I will be in Napier though. Ticket already obtained.

Does seem a bit BS that of a 4 month season you miss the whole first month - why not do it during the ITM cup say??? (note do not take seriously) and also that means more games at home when most people maybe on holidays in summer too...

eh. The Wellington NZ Aussie Club Phoenix...

Still rark it up this weekend boys!

I'm with Tigers all the way...I doubt I'll ever be more than a Nix Six pass holder after years of Full Season Pass.

With all this free to air footy I'm getting this season too, having the Nix as a football proxy is not as important as it once was. I don't expect many forum posters to feel the same, but I do wonder if there are others out there feeling the same.
