We've done OK. Perth are a good team so it was always going to be a tight contest. I can see us running out of steam though as the body clocks tell our guys that it's way past bedtime.

Although before the match I would've been okay with taking home a draw, I reckon we can go out and win this. I know we can do it Nix!!

FFS ,were you expecting him to score with every free kick in his one and a half games?

No, he's had about 5, 6? set pieces, and none of them really threatened except maybe the one that went to the back post that Keogh had to head out.

He's just been a bit flat.

He will get there mark my words, great signing!

Lia and one of the other mids could probably come off.
Just not sure it's working with 3 players who consider themselves creative midfielders.

Perhaps we are watching different games.

I think the former Victory boys are lacking a bit of "Flare"!

I just don't understand this midfield at all at the moment. What is Roly's role exactly? Why is Lia expected to cover both full-backs when he's the slowest in the team to track back?

It's a bit confusing.

All they have up front is the average Irishman and Castro who admittedly is a handful and has been a blurr to the likes Lia!

Have we had a shot on target ??

They look more threatening up front

Roly is missing because Finkler has taken his role... needs to sit more centrally to allow his RB Tratt to move into the space and take the pressure of Lia in the middle.

Yeah it really doesn't seem like good strategy.
Roly is trying to play the same role he was playing last year, when he should be playing closer to Lia, and quickly connecting defense to attack.
A-Rod is more suited to that role. As much as people on here hate him.

I think Roly is better at skipping past players than Gui - a couple of times Gui tried to do this and was just a bit too slow to do so and the ball got knicked. Gui's game is to sit back, see a pass and execute it. I would say that maybe Gui and Roly should swap positions, but then you have the two slowest players in the team next to each other in midfield..

In theory I guess Ernie wants Lia as the sole DM, Roly as the roaming box-to-box type player and WeeMac in there dropping into space and picking up the ball when needed but Lia can't do it by himself, and Roly isn't disciplined enough to make sure he's back to help out.

I wonder if this midfield will click this year. I think if Ernie finds the right combination, we'll be away - but I feel like we had that same issue last year too.

No changes at half-time... Was hoping Lia for A-Rod.

Surprised Ernie hasn't tried to convert Roly to fullback

Maybe Roly up front, McG helping Lia and linking play, and Finkler just in front of him?

Yeah, I think this is probably the best idea. WeeMac is very disciplined and has a good engine - doesn't need to make Hollywood passes.

On replay, didn't the Perth player cut in front of Parkhouse?

Edit:  Not really, just wrong sided and clumsy.

Thats a pen and I guess lucky he was not sent off. He had a fair chance of getting on the end of that.

Under new laws of the game, since it was a penalty it could only be a red if it was cynical, which that wasn't.
