1) Play it on sunday, even if under water and there's fire () around.

2) Play it at Westpac on sunday.

3) Split the points.

Everything else should be "off the table", imo.  Professional sport - there is no place for  "soft touches".  Don't get bitter Roar, get better [weather].

yeah they will I guess. With the re-scheduling, and the expensive hire of stadiums, a small crowd would show up to a game at another venue. So Brisbane would make a loss! I guess at the Ring of Fire is an option. I think that's at least cheaper to hire than Suncorp. But they would have to pay their own way to Wellington which is heaps. May get quite of good crowd so a profit from the match is quite possible. But I doubt they would want to play at our home fortress!

Christchurch might get another game. Or even Auckland.

Moving it to Canberra or Hobart where there are no normal games and making it free would be good for the league.

If you've lived in Auckland, then you know what crappy weather really is.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Take it a game in Wellington would mean season ticket holders have to pay?

Brisbane may not be able to go back home for a while. Suncorp Stadium is closed indefinitely with 90% of the ground inundated.

Brisbane have a bye next week, but I would be cautious that the 28th would be held at Suncorp either. Top Left, a drop in wicket doesn't take too long to get out. Otherwise playing the game in Gosford could be an idea.

Wellington played there on Sunday, Roar play there today. Play the game in Gosford on Sunday, even if there is not many there.

I'd be sad if the reason its not at westpac is because of cricket, I love cricket but the blackcaps don't deserve to play in a stadium let them go play on wakefield park or something. Obviously I'm taking the mickey.

The groundstaff at Westpac have 20 hours to convert the pitch from cricket to football between the ODI on the 22nd and the Nix game on the 23rd, so it should easily be able to be converted by this Sunday and then back again for Saturday.

The only reason Brisbane would take the game to NZ is financial, so yes, we would have to pay. And I can't see any reason they would want to take it to Wellington unless Christchurch was unavailable.

Oh yeah, easily enough. I guess the markings of the logos don't affect the football!

Don't you have to change it all around fast after the ODI anyway? Because aren't we scheduled to play Perth here on the 23rd?

Its not hard to take the drop in wicket in and out, which is the whole point of a drop in wicket.
Oh really. When was the last time you took out/put in a drop in wicket?

Correct Simon. We're working through the night to change it over. You aren't meant to move the pitch while it's being prepared (within 7-10 days before the game) because it can disrupt the soil structure/stability. No issues taking it out soon after, it can break up all it wants at that stage. It has been (close to game day) done before but it's not ideal. I'm also not saying it can't happen but it is a big operation taking it out/in etc.

Has been said it's as much about everything else involved in hosting a football game as it is about the pitch.

Fuck this stupid game

Haha I don't get days off in summer [lucky to get a few for new years] so it doesn't worry me either way. I'd love another Nix home game, to be honest. And I'm sure there are benefits for the stadium itself...

I say we challenge the Roar to a sporting match of Waterpolo. See if they can extend their unbeaten streak to the pool.

What about playing it on Fifa 11?
Permalink Permalink

The headline in this article says the game has been postphoned until Wednesday january 26th. if that is the case it sucks a bit for us as we have a must win home game against Perth on Sunday the 23rd and then have another huge home game sunday 30th against the Jets.

So we now have 3 games in 8 days and have to fly to Brisbane in between. This will majorly affect our preparation and traing over this vital week. We need max points for those two home games.
I guess there is nothing much we can do about it.....perhaps we could send over the "killer B's" i.e the Nix number two side to play Brisbane

I am in Brisbane that week, the Roar are due to play Heart on 28th, so will be short turnaround for them also.

I wonder who I can butter up to get some free tickets :P
