I think someone said that whatever Tratt's"personal reasons" were they would prevent him playing for at least a season

Tratt struck me as the classic "moneyball" player.

Does not look like a fullback at all with those gangly legs and awkward gait, but is actually very good. Surely a great cost-effective pick-up for someone.

Sydney fans want him to come back but I haven't seen anything more than that.

Nick Montgomery is an Australian citizen now, so I assume wouldn't count towards any import cap.

35yo now but could be a useful squad player in the Lia mould - you might scoff, but we could probably do a lot worse. I really rated him in the title winning Mariners squad (although that was a while ago now). Always seemed like a good competitor, good player to have alongside you.

A bit sad though that this is where I'm aiming...

To be honest I am stoked that Rado decided to sign as Assistant with us; almost more than I am stoked about Prince Khaleesi signing up as the coach.  Rado is probably the only one at the level of Tony Pignata as the best "right hand" men in the comp and I have high hopes for us over the next few seasons.

Playing for the Wolves in the NSW NPL before hanging up his boots to take up a backroom gig at CCM.

Bah ok cheers. Last I had heard he had got Aussie citizenship, left Mariners, playing for Wolves, and saying he wanted to play at least 1 more year! Oh well.

Crashed and burned at MV and with the head coach at Brissy though, so hardly an unblemished record there.

I heard there's some bloke in Spain who wants out of his club according to BBC, calls himself Cristiano Ronaldo, could be a good player to bring in as a squaddie to give Krishna some competition.

We could suggest to Ronaldo that we will pay him via a Cook Islands bank account with their tax policies. Isn't that where major businesses in NZ dump their wealth just before Tax time??

I probably need my head examined for suggesting this but I kinda think we should look at Mitch Nichols.

His best form in recent seasons was when he was playing the #8 role for the Victory behind Finkler. Given our lack of established midfielders, he is probably the most talented Aussie one on the market & can provide a scoring threat from further back. His off field issues have probably driven his wage demands to an all time low, so could be a bargain signing. I admit he is a bit of a dickhead but unless we want to go into the season with a midfield core of Ridenton/Rufer/McGarry, we might have to take the chance.

Diego Costa epitomises this. If he's on your team he's en route to becoming a club legend. If he's not on your team you're hoping someone goes full Sigmund vs Kruse on him.

I think he gets distracted by talk of overseas moves but I think all those options have dried up now, he doesn't have many options left. He wouldn't be my first choice but given what is on the market, there isn't many better options.
