Still a decent player, and means we could chuck all our money at a winger to play on the left. Doubt Darije would opt for that move though to be perfectly honest

On the con side he is a full penis, Jacob Burns style.

CB is the position we have the most cover for in the squad, and you want us to sign yet another CB? Okay.

Cover does not necessarily equate to quality - ok?

I think Rossi and Mullen are perfectly fine starting CB's, and Durante is very good as cover, with Fox/Lowry waiting in the wings. That is not our problem area.

Our problem is Ridenton in the middle of the park, and the lack of depth out wide.

If we had a better middle - our backs wouldn't be under as much pressure.

Yep. I also think Paracki has been a bit disappointing since his very promising start. Whether that is because of a lack of support in the middle, am unsure..

Still our best option in the middle.

Obviously, but not exactly a high bar to hit.

Personally I'd love Fabrizio Tavano in the team as extra backup, someone I really rate but I don't think many else do. Can cover anywhere down the middle from DM to striker, and contrary to popular belief he's not counted as a foreigner

If such choice was available, I would always pick Eric Paartalu over Neil Kilkenny.

Same age, same position, but 'Portaloo' is taller, has much better temperament and better work ethic than Neil.

He has also played at Brisbane Roar while Rado Vidosic was there, can't be a bad thing.

Shame that he went from Korea to India early this year, but we still had Roly and Lia on our team when he did.

Ryan De Vries. Seriously think if we sign him he would do a total Krishna to us and hit his peak in his late 20's, and then we all sit around and wish we had signed him earlier. Also, get in Tavano, (great suggestion mrsmiis). I'd rather have them than some of the other useless fudges we have that never get game time. Also would Darije like the look of Mario Bilen from Auckland City? defensive mid/centre back, tall, not too old, Croatian... Haven't seen him play so I'm not sure how good he is, but he seems versatile

I don't think DK has been to many Handy Prem games, so probably not.

De Vries was on fire a couple seasons ago but hasn't hit the same heights since. Did he ever goto CCM for the proposed trial?

I think it is because he is clearly number one target to shutdown for every opposition, as it was obvious the reason our ball movement looked so good through the middle of the park early on was due to Paracki. Now he has no time or space whatsoever, and isn't used to it. He's quality though, and I reckon he'll find his feet in the A-league.

I've seen milk turn faster than him. He'd give Dura a run for his money.

As much as I'd like them here, I can't see any of the ACFC players wanting to join the Nix at this point in time.

This is not very different to how the opposition targeted Bonevacia when he first started for us (I mentioned this in an earlier post). They kicked the crap out of him to little interest from the A-League refs.   Paracki is a bit more rugged but he would benefit from an experienced DM partner next to him instead of someone he needs to mentor (at least not while we are stuck at the bottom of the ladder).

Think its much more likely DK will look in the Croatian League or the Eredivisie for a defensive mid, which would be better than any handy prem alternative

Jakob Jantscher was released by Rizespor on 4th December. Quality Austrian left sided wide forward, has a great scoring/assisting record over the last 10ish years for a wide player, turning 29 in January so he's not even ancient. played almost 300 games across the Austrian, Swiss, Russian, Dutch and Turkish leagues, also 23 games for Austria. Could be an incredible marquee:

Why are you touting a wing forward? Do you believe our attack is the weakest point?

Despite Jazzy banging on about it, I seriously doubt we'd be looking at getting a new winger in.

De Vries has spent a number of pre-seasons in and around the Phoenix and these days spends more time off the bench than starting for City in the NZFC.

Agreed. I can only repeat what I said before (on 11 Dec to be precise):

"AK9 and Roy are "recognised goal scorers" but so is Vidosic, and they are all experienced and a class above Watson and Rogerson. I am not convinced we need more strikers at this point.   Our midfield is less blessed with talent and experience and I would like some more support to Paracki and Weemac who are class above the rest and where we suffer if one of them is out injured or has a bad day in the office. We need to have more experienced players in midfield at present to get ourselves in order. Finkler's inability to contribute was one of the symptoms of this problem."

Even if Ridenton is doing a decent job (and this is a separate area for disagreement here), we simply do not have enough quality backup for Paracki or someone solid enough to give him some breathing space.  I would not want to see him kicked to bits like Roly was.

We offered him a gig a few years ago, I think after the Alex Jones saga. He/ACFC turned us down and we got Watson instead.

Not at all. But its probably the position we have the least depth in. Vidosic gets lost on the wing, he's far more effective at 10. So then we are left with Krishna, Parkhouse and Rogerson as our wide players; Krishna is stellar, Parkhouse does a job, and Rogerson will never get any game time. The way we play heavily uses our wide players, so surely it makes sense to sign a winger. When everyone is fit, our attack is by far our strongest aspect of the team, thats undisputed. But when Krishna or Vidosic is out, AK is an island in a sea of mediocrity and we don't even look close to scoring. We can't just rely on Parkhouse, Rufer, etc. Don't get me wrong, I want a new holding mid too, but we already have 5 central mids and only really 2 or three wingers. Also what happens if AK gets injured? Watto? No thanks

Yeah, I though the DM option but RR convinced me, bring in a wide player and then push WeeMac back to the holding position.

Sure - Paracki, WeeMac, Ridenton, Rufer and Vidosic (I know he's playing on the left but really he should be central), six if you count Singh. Now I'm not for a second saying that we don't need a better DM and that those five are all amazing; hell most are attacking/central mids. But my point is at least we have numbers there, whereas with wingers we only have Krishna and Parky. It's the same logic as to why we shouldn't sign a central defender, we have enough compared to other areas. Ideally we manage to ditch another player and then sign a winger AND a defensive mid, but that means mutual termination of a current player's contract or selling a player, unlikely either will happen.

Dario is one of the few players we didn't want to leave. Who else could even leave and have the certainty of being picked up elsewhere? Can't see anyone else walking. Paracki and Kaludjerovic are Kalezic's signings, so they will side with him and stay.

I thought Kaludjerovic was a Rado signing as he worked with him at Brisbane.

I've read that both Rado and Dario are quite divisive, that bears fruit when you look at the amount of clubs both of them have been through. Of course Darje has the same sort of history, but maybe there is only enough room in the senior group for one arse.
