So this is probs gonna be our strongest XI til Jan. Could argue Rufer > Pennington
lineup (6).png 142.66 KB

My opportunistic jokes about Rufer aside, he will be a key player early on in the season in the reshuffled team without Taylor and Davila.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

How do you put Pennington ahead of Rufer - he hasn't even played a game yet. How do we know he is stronger. Also he's more a playmaker apparently, so it would be Lewis more likely to make way with Rufer doing the graft.

Does that make Pennington a 10 cover possibility?

Talay talked of him being more a DM.
“I rate his consistency and the fact he’s a hard-working, box-to-box player who gives his all every match; he plays as a 6 so he’ll give us depth in that position and he’ll have every opportunity to play to his strengths.

Looking forward to seeing how he goes.
Prso played more of an AM role at the jets. But am hoping to see Ben Old get more opportunities in that role.

With the team now relocated to NSW.
Can we expect some pre season games against A league teams?
I'd be surprised if we are not in line to play Sydney some time over the next two weeks.

I would assume so, considering also there is no quarantine to be had

Yea we have 3 pre season games vs A-League teams. One of the players said it in an interview, i think?

EDIT: I've tried to find it, but can't think who it could have been. I can't even find a recent interview other than the Academy boys. It might have been a very specific dream??

The Western v Jets FFA Cup game has been scheduled for the 13th, so wouldn't be surprised if we play the winner of that game before the AL season starts.

Be great to actually do something in the FFA Cup.  The boys should be used to playing well away now so it would be great to see a decent cup run.

4 straight clean sheets for Sail & Paulsen. Our defense might not be bad after all.

Next two pre season games will be a better test of our defence. WSW then Sydney FC.

Three friendlies played, three friendlies lost for Macarthur. Add that to the whole vax/anti-vax drama going on there at the minute... it's not a happy football club to work at right now.
