Season Tickets - Clusterf**k Edition 2013/14

Does a season pass holder get (more or less) the same extras as a club member? Ability to attend member events, player of the year voting etc? If yes - then I don't get the angst. If no - then I do get the angst a little bit.

What is included as part of my season ticket?

Entry to all regular season Wellington Phoenix FC 2012/13 Hyundai A-League home games that are played at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.

Season Ticket pack:

  • Adult: card, lanyard, plastic holder, supporter’s scarf, fridge magnet, bumper sticker, trading cards
  • Child: card, lanyard, plastic holder, beanie, fridge magnet, bumper sticker, trading cards, pencil case/pencil combo

Access to Season Ticket holder events, player of the year voting rights, priority rights to purchase tickets to any finals series match at Westpac Stadium

Also included as part of your season ticket is access to any ‘home’ games played away from Westpac Stadium.

A Wellington Phoenix FC season ticket does not include access to the Football Federation Australia A-League ‘Regional Round’ match on Sunday March 3 in Dunedin.

What is a Club Membership?

A Wellington Phoenix Club Membership is the ultimate show of support for the Wellington Phoenix. More than just a season ticket holder, Club Membership is exactly that – a member of the Club. While a Club Membership does not give the member entry to match days (except as detailed below), there are some exclusive benefits for being a member of the Club.

Members pack:

  • Adult: card,  members cap, members pin, ticket voucher
  • Child: card, kids cap, wristband, ticket voucher

A Club Membership entitles you to a unique membership pack and benefits and one match day ticket (either Adult or Child - equivalent to the same as the Membership purchased) to anyone of the following:

  • Entry to any season home game at Westpac Stadium OR;
  • One nominated Wellington Phoenix away game played in Australia.

Ok. I certainly don't understand the angst then. Season pass holders are essentially members who get to go to games, plus with a few more things thrown in.

well they (club members) do get a season pin...

I think it is all about the statement "More than just a season member"
I think people feel that a season member should be considered a club member (I think that in 2011/12 they were, but in 2012/13 it was separated, at least that is how I see it in the price dropping by more than $50 that season).

Season tickets might be cheap but don forget your not a member of the Phoenix according to the club unless you also fork out for member ship which then makes our 10 homes a little more expensive.

Would you be happy if they included in $60 for membership in everyones season passes, making the cheapest season ticket $230?

Your still missing the point, why should someone who forks out $60 get privileges that arnt extended to those who have been here from the start or have brought a season pass.

The privileges are extended to those that have been there from the start - only now you can choose whether you want those privileges or not. Before they were forced upon you at an inflated price.

From what I'm reading they've basically separated the club membership out of the season pass, giving us the option to tailor this to our personal needs - if you wanted a season pass but couldn't afford it before, maybe now you can. If you want to be a member and a season ticket holder i.e. the old season ticket, you can basically pay the old season ticket price to get the old season ticket - except now you get J82 style goodies and other extra stuff. And if you can't feasibly attend home games there is now an option for you to support he club financially, and you also might be swayed to attend an away game. Can't see how this is anything but win-win-win for everyone.

Except that club members don't even get anything extra that a season pass holder doesn't get. Unless this is 10+ pages of angst about a pin?

Yeah, but paulm said it better.

The way I read it is just that the statement on the site is just poorly worded with the inference that a club membership is somehow more than a mere season pass holder, despite being about 1/3 of the price!

Take away that stupid line and I have no issue with it.

Hmm I got both, are you sure you didn't accidentally throw it out with all the packaging (I remember a lot of packaging with my Club members kit)

That is a possibility but I normally check things like that. Ah well.

Actually I don't recall seeing any of these in last season's family pass delivery (we did get 4 scarves which was actually better as the kids didn't want beanies.

They had to match Sydney FC offering free transport. It is something I hope the club look into, even if its just discounted travel.

Available on 'selected game days'. they didn't make it very well known which games sadly. Great if your in town tho.

And completely un-useful if you live in the Northern Suburbs as our buses are not Go Wellington ;)

The advertising of it was ridiculous, and then people who knew told the bus drivers and got told they had to pay anyway.

Generally I think Marketing is going to be a huge improvement this year, Thundersticks is on the job :D

Yep.  We used it once last season.  And the bus driver coming back had to radio in to find out about it.

One colleague was almost going to get a season ticket because of the free transport but decided not to when he realised it was only "selected matches"
