I would love it so much if we could get Fox Sports over here. I end up watching it for most games anyway on a stream, I may as well pay for it and get it in HD.

I recall that the A-League announced a few weeks back that there will be a paid subscription streaming service for the games next season, if that isn't geolocked to Australia it could be our savior.

Wellington Saints stream their games online. Basketball is probably easier with 1 camera, but could could ACFC look at doing something similar? TW highlights on youtube, does ACFC  put their games up?

Yes, actually, they do. And with Apple TV it's not too shabby.

as long as the nix games are live we really have no complaint, sure it would be nice to see all the a-league games live but their viewership are more likely to want EPL, Big Bash live over a-league games.

Except that we pay them a ridiculous amount per month with the promise of live Sport and A league. They also told me it'd get better a few months ago, and it hasn't.

The one that does my head in is when they have cricket (or similar) on as many as 3 channels.  If there is a test match in NZ, a test match in Aus and a Big Bash game on aren't the same audince just being diluted?

Hard to find time to delay a test match I suppose. But yeah it makes no sense.

So they prioritise Aus cricket over NZ cricket also? Do they show the NZ domestic games?

They do..,..and the NZ T20 cricket I have seen has even less people attending than NZFC matches!!

i heard somewhere for the HRV cup that even though attendances weren't great, the viewership was up 50%

The down side of TV coverage - people sit at home instad of going to the game

Yep this is the harsh reality of football in NZ. Not everyone wants to watch it, and not everyone wants to watch A-League. I know plenty of football supporters who only watch EPL and leave it at that.

For cricket they've also changed the match times and venues to suit tv. This is more evident in Wellington, where last season the basin reserve was packed out on a Sunny day for domestic T20,whereas this season they're playing in front of an empty stadium, under lights.

I think Sky had this covered all along. The Aus/Sri Lanka ODI will be over in about half an hour and the A-League brought forward to live. Show some respect to the all-knowing puppet masters at Sky TV.

This has happened before, we made them aware of it, they acknowledged it, then ignored it and kept the games delayed. It was bullshit, only a monopoly can get away with such poor customer service.

I just don't understand why they don't have another permanent  sports channel. They add channels for stuff like the Olympics and the tennis so why not  just have one more all the time. I thought the added cost of another digital channel is minimal in the scheme of things

I must admit, I am enjoying the tennis. Good service for that, but not for the football.

This seems like a miracle, wonder why they have finally decided to make the change? I was getting annoyed with streaming if I wanted to watch live football, but didn't think they were listening.

I think they may have adjusted the way they have set up the Highlights channel to allow them to easily show live sport on it a couple of weeks ago, but the Australian Open taking up SS3 meant that they had to show NZ sport (such as the Breakers) on the HL channel last weekend when the A-League was on. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.

the other day they had lawn bowls on two channels at the same time - I considered ringing up and asking why they only had two and couldnt manage to us the highlights channel to show lawn bowls as well. Or if they were considering setting up a whole lawn bowls channel dedicated to the sport

I personally think that Sky are shite when it comes to showing what people like me want to watch.( and I realise that I am being selfish here)  My preference would be for a football channel soley for the use of FOOTBALL. This may never happen and I have to console myself to the fact that Sky will only show the football , Live due to the EPL being a different time zone ( but I would like to watch championship and Npower league as well) the Live Phoenix games and then its prety much a toss up as to what they show after this. They do show the All whites games but other than this they willl show absolutely most other sports rather than football. There is plenty of football going on out there to fully occupy a football channel ( and for those of us whos' passion is football and any other sport is purely an aside ..it would be great!!)

No thanks.  I struggle enough to pay the sky bill as it is without having any football I want to watch shoved onto a channel that I have to pay more for to access.

Is it possible to subscribe to the Rugby Channel without subscribing to Sky Sports? It may the case that you could cut the sports package out and only subscribe to the Football Channel, saving you money.
