Transfer Talk - 2018/19 Season

Interesting chat on Radio sport yesterday afternoon around 5.45pm with Krishna fielding questions and praise around his goal scoring record. He then goes on to say something along the lines of wanting to make the club successful before he 'moves on'

In my opinion, I'd be happy for Roy to move on - he's done more than enough service for our club through muddiest times and deserves a big pay check. Such a huge rise from a tiny village in the  pacific ocean - his podcast with Adam Peacock is quite extraordinary, he's had to work so hard for it all.

I don't have an issue with that either AS LONG AS we find an adequate replacement. And looking at our recruitment over the last few months, I would struggle to see that happening.

Not sure he's what we need, Emenike won't qualify for marquee and his game is all speed + strength, which Krishna gives. Worth a look anyway especially since it's performance based!

As long as he's not a Nigerian scammer, he sounds very promising!

We have no visa slots, he would have to be a replacement for someone (eg Krishna leaving). His 'marquee' credentials only matter if we were wanting Fox Sports to help pay for him, someone wanting a performance based deal wouldn't be needing that kinda help.

I wasn't being serious suggesting him tbh, just that the article chucked our name out there. With his recent injury history, no way Rudan would gamble on him without him turning up and trialing with the club first.

We do now.  Well done on the citizenship Mr Krishna.

I was starting to get skeptical about him ever getting this, so rather happy to be wrong about it. Time to find a marquee midfielder Mr Rudan.

If we wanted that proper centre forward to play off, my vote's for Marko Futacs.

6ft 5in, would do well in the A League

come to think of it, I'd really like a normal foreign striker like Futacs or Emenike and use the marquee slot on a top quality midfielder if we choose to cut Kopa loose

I'm starting to like Kopa in his new CB position, he has worked well with Dura and Taylor. I'd be happy to keep him, if we have the squad room to bring in a decent midfielder then sweet, but goals are the one thing we are really lacking at the moment. The Rufer, Mandi, Singh combo with the wing backs is coming along, I'm sure Nichols will have some influence soon. The strike force is creating chances but finishing is still lacking.

No players from Donkey FC please.

Though I think Felipe may have already broken that rule.

yeah a few days ago someone said a new midfielder might be on the way. Of course 99.9% of us had no idea the Krishna citizenship saga would end today, so it definitely gives a bit more weight to that claim. It would be fantastic if we signed someone in the next few days, would be really impressed with the club

It would impress me if we found a decent goal-scorer  - but as others have pointed out, we're still working on getting the ball to the likely goal-scorers we already have.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

On that "other forum"(442) there is a story that Bruce Djite is on his way back to the A-League in Jan, I really hope its not at Wellington.

with some things I have been, but mostly not. Hence why I would be impressed if the club has been lining up a signing in preparation for the opportunity to get another visa player.

Surely we'll wait until the January window.

I really hope it is. A target man is crucial if we want to switch up our style, i'm pretty unimpressed by Rudan's perceived lack of a plan B.

He's linked to Sydney anyway so unlikely

I don't get all the Djite hate. No one is saying he's brilliant, but he offers and plan be and can do a job

Wonder who he's targeting?

Best Kiwis in the league so far IMO have been Dan Morgan, de Jong, Bevin and Hudson-Wihongi

Plays for Auckland City, has been around Handy Prem and its various previous incarnations for quite a while now.

Auckland City, 28, formerly of Waitakere. Incredibly versatile, can play anywhere on either flank as well as some positions in midfield. Was more of a rotational player last year when he signed but is now an undisputed starter, been excellent this season. As a matter of fact Andrew Voerman tweeted that he’s a Kiwi Prem player we’d be likely to see in a Nix shirt
