The announcement of Posts as player of the year based on coaches votes must now remove all doubt Des and Greenie are not up to the job.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Newcastle Herald had a list of possible candidates for the Jets. Guess same names would be around for us. Not exactly a glowing list of names.

ex-HAL coaches

  • Aurelio Vidmar - called Adelaide a pissant town. Sacked as U23 coach after failing to qualify for Rio. Currently with Bangkok Glass
  • Mike Mulvey - Won title after Ange left Roar. Sacked 6 weeks in season after reportedly growing a massive ego and losing the dressing room.
  • Josep Gambau - Knee slide king. With U23s now and part of Socceroos set up. Doubt he would be released from contract.
  • Ante Milicic - Former WSW assistant. Part of Socceroos set up. Doubt he would be released from contract.

Untried at A-League level:

  • Ramon Tribulietx
  • Damian Mori - Coaching Adelaide City since 2010. Bunch of upper table finishes. Won SA NPL title last year.
  • Mark Rudan - two titles and two mid table finished at Sydney United
  • Arthur Papas - former jets assistant now an assistant in Saudi league
  • Tony Vidmar - Aus U17 coach. Failed to qualify for latest World Cup.

If we hire Dale, can we tell FFA that he is Harry Kewell?

Get all the benefits of hiring Harry Kewell, without having to hire Harry Kewell.

Trani was the tactician during our few good seasons. He ran the training sessions.

Question has to be asked is that because he is the best for the job,or is Dura afraid someone completely new will come with a big broom have a big clean up and lay down his own rules.

Which  perfectly sums up why batman and robin should never have been got the job mid season

Can you make a case for any of those to coach the Nix?

The A-League is fairly unique, it has small squads, short seasons, a salary cap, a finals system. An overrated European reject is not necessarily going to do better than someone from the league, a lot of coaches from the Premier League have done nothing when they've dropped to a lower division.

I'd rather have a young and hungry coach who want's to step up than someone who doesn't really want to be here and is just coming to this side of the world because it's a pay cheque. That's not neccersarily Des or Chris, could also be Rudan, Ramon, etc.

Alan Pardew has some sort of connection with NZ - I think he has family that live here

Ranieri has shown he can perform miracles, OK the Nix probably couldn't afford him

you could make a case for most of those to coach the Nix - just got to have some ambition rather than setting the bar low

and the Phoenix seem to be the only club in the world who seem to think they can't appoint managers part way through the season

Didn't Leicester appoint the assistant manager for the rest of the season?

I'd be more than happy to have some local flavour thrown into the mix. I feel that as they have already been in the position that Des and Greenie deserve a chance to state their case for the fulltime manager job. I do however think that it might be worth a fresh approach to the job and look at a fresh face. My own choice would be to look at a 'lesser light' (no offence intended) than a "known" manager from europe and in that respect i would be inclined to look at Ramon and maybe even Mark Rudan. Ramon appears to have contacts that always seem to see a steady supply of players at Auckland (I know not all good players) and Mark Rudan who has some experience of managing at a lower level and also also good knowledge of the australian football scene and if rumours are to be believed changes in the playing squad are afoot and we may need some new blood.

It's been repeatedly stated in the media that Ramon and the Phoenix have bad blood between them, stranger things have happened though (see Alonso to Mclaren) but Ramon to the nix would appear to be unlikely.

What does almost every other league in the world have that forces clubs to have to move decisively immediately?

Our biggest advantage is we have a monopoly on NZ players, the other clubs have a talent pool of 2.3 million each, we have a talent pool of almost 7 million to draw from. Because we're the only show in town the top NZ players should also be cheaper than the top Australians.

We need to focus on developing NZ players and it's insane that we only started doing it a couple of years ago.
