I think the problem is the forums can be a bit poisonous and people leave as they can't be bothered dealing with it which makes it worst.

Also some peoples suggestions aren't seen so much as well thought out suggestions but more knee jerk arguments making it not worth the time to have a reasonable discussion with them about why it is wrong.

I don't quite get the toxic and poisonous views as I don't see much of it. Admittedly I know Patrick has cleaned up some bad posts quickly at times like the linesmans bordeline/bad calls drawing some sexist remarks.

But based on most corners of the internet with the ability to post comments, I've always thought its usually pretty reasonable here. Yea people say dumb things, but that's just people, and sure arguments get heated, but that's also just people.

I dunno, I just find it weird hearing the yellow fever pod seem so anti-the yellow fever forums.  Unless I'm the source of all toxicity and that's why I can't see it.

Yeah Dijkstra is sharkty, but the Southern goalkeeper's name isn't A*...

If it was he wouldn't be reserve keeper for Southern United.

It's Eastern Suburbs, and it's their third choice keeper...

I wasn't at the Southern game to snigger at Patrick's algorithm-based puns.

Interesting discussion around the retracting of cards, issuing of them fro diving and video refs.

I almost totally agree EXCEPT nearly all my gripes with NRL these days is the video refs and their changing of interpretations of rules from week to week.  Also proactively changing cards sounds great, unless the FFA is involved.  Lets not forget Berisha had his ban reduced becuse they saw sufficient evidence Durante choked him.  If that's sufficient evidence I wouldnt want to know what would come out of the bloody judiciary.

Ah not so much that. But slag off some possibilities, slag off Ivan, then go on about how those Adelaide goals couldn't be helped

I think a Phoenix supporters podcast slagging off the Phoenix supporter forums is something that shouldn't be encouraged.

I can cope with the podcast saying a few things about the forum. Just like they have to say things about our beloved football club. We don't need to take anything personally. Go for it boys.

This forum is one of the more civil ones in the A-League but the fact is that a lot of former regulars have disappeared over the last season or so, it could be because of a waning interest in the team, or it could be because of a waning interest in the forum.

People come and people go. Ces't la vie.

p.s. Ivan Vicelich is 40, one year older than Chris Greenacre.

I wonder if the YF elite can tell us what traffic is like, if it's down or not. Because it really feels like there are only a handful of active people on here ATM, or at least down from what it was a few years ago.

It has been declining since the end of the Terry era.  I would at least hope that those who have left the forum are still fans of the team.

Quite a few read or visit without posting I believe. Goes up substantially when big events happen, so would imagine this past week visits would be up (the Merrick thread has 156,000 views).

No problem with them saying the forums talk some shark - just lithe same as I say they talk some shark as well.

All the crap from some people that they don't post of forums because some of the views aren't to their liking (or complete shark) is laughable.

It's been blown out of proportion, they take pot shots at the forum every week and I guess annoyance at that has just been building up for some people, nothing out of the ordinary this time round.

I didn't even notice it until it was brought up on here.

Yea, I only commented as it seemed a little more sour this week than usual, but it's not like there was an anti-firum rant or anything.

people stop posting because they get bored, not because they get offended.

I like tautologies because I like them.

So listened to that pod. Didn't hear anything too bad bashing forum posters.

Whoever however said that Ernie gets a lot of stick from the forum is a long way short of the mark. Considering his record he has had a bloody good ride from this forum and is treated with a lot of respect.

The angst from the pod, I would put solely down to the heartache they are suffering.

I gained the impression they felt like they had been dropped by their long term partner of a number of years. They knew that the relationship really should have ended but nevertheless don't like it.

As they have only ever had one other long term partner, they needed to unleash at someone.

This week's episode of #PhoenixCity is out now in your podcast app and on http://yellowfever.co.nz

The Phoenix had a successful trip to Hamilton, coming out with a 3-0 shellacking of CCM and no reported cases of STD's. The pod looks ahead to the continuing Travelling Circus in Auckland, and Team Wellington have gone top in the SS Premiership.
