I’m glad you raised the point about Rossis’ card. Having read the match thread, I’m kinda surprised people don’t think that’s a foul. It could have nearly been red. My replay on small screen was poor quality but the defender on the left hip may have saved him from red. At the very least, you can argue a goal scoring opportunity.

Edit: I didn’t actually see the game and when I read about it, looked to try find it on my phone.

While I know we need to look at the bigger picture with him, i still think we need to give him (and any player) full credit when due.

Yeah I don't think there will be any hoopla over Italiano anytime soon.

i think you've missed the point. and if you think a keeper conceding in a one on one situation makes him a poor keeper then you have some unworldy standards that no keeper ever will live up to.

Sorry mate, but we mentioned him on the podcast this week and it was talked about how he got man of the match and how he had a good game.

Not quite sure what more you want?

Pretty easy to do minimalist celebrations when we don't even look like scoring. Come back Roy, we need you!

Can we just loop the audio of me saying I don't need a keeper that makes spectacular saves I just want a keeper that doesn't roll it between his legs?

Maybe talk about the booing after the goal went in?

I didn't hear any from my spot, I did hear lots of "I don't believe it" though.

Yeah, I don't remember any booing either after it went in from the zone?

I believe the booing referred to is due to Adelaide celebrating right in front of the zone. I believe Blackwood even gestured at the fever but I'd have to watch a replay to confirm that.

That's coz Blackwood ran straight over to the Fever and gestured "Shhhhhh" at us.

OK, definitely came through on the TV and we didn't see the Blackwood gestures. I thought it was a bit off if we were booing Italiano even though he was terrible in letting the goal in. I hope he saw the gesture and didn't think we were boojng him - confidence breaker.....

Nope, that was soley aimed at Blackwood and his COD display towards the fever, not Italiano. There was about a 30 second delay between the goal scored and the reaction from Blackwood.

Not sure there was that much of a delay but point taken.

The Nix have signed Tando Velaphi after another horror show from the goalkeeping stock against Adelaide - is he any better than Italiano? Patrick rages at the MRP over lenient punishments, and Team Wellington take on Auckland City this weekend in what is essentially a league decider.

Love the anger at the MRP. It is such a toothless process, which can be easily muddied by bullshark

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Well done on the pod gents. Lots of emotions on the bad tackle and the MRP. Good discussion on the goalie situation. Yes it'd be interesting to know if they had Velaphi lined up before the last game. Not much mention of Singh being left out. Is he also injured?

He is not injured to my knowledge. We touch on it being strange but honestly we don't into much depth on it I think cos we all find it a tad baffling.

Darije has talked previously about not wanting to overwhelm him by throwing him in the deep end (I can't remember his exact wording) so I can only assume it's either a strategy to manage his development or it's a tactical call for this game in particular given the injuries.

If there is more to it behind the scenes then it goes counter to everything I hear from the club/fans/etc about his prospects.

New pod. http://yellowfever.co.nz/podcasts

The Phoenix let Sydney FC roll on past them, we discuss whether there's any hope against the Wanderers this weekend. Arnie's been ruled out of coaching the All Whites and NZF have appointed new age group coaches, and the WeeNix got spanked at the hands of Eastern Suburbs.

The Phoenix conceded 4 goals against a Sydney team for the second week running, so we invite Hard News onto the pod to give his thoughts on the current playing squad. Back home, Canterbury rallied late to get a win over the WeeNix, and Auckland City, Tee Dubs and Eastern Suburbs all earned themselves three points.

What is the "alleged" Burns rumour?

It's an odd one, whatever would keep him from Australia would also mean he can't travel there every two weeks to play.

Not necessarily, the rumour is that it prevents him from being able to live there, not travel there.

The very alleged & very rumour is that he has tax issues. I have no idea how true this is, and could be completely wrong.

Ok could easily be an issue around tax residency (ie he can't become a tax resident of Australia without triggering an obligation).  That wouldn't stop him travelling there

Great to hear Hard News on the podcast again. Definitely needs his kind of gravitas. Although I think he must getting a bit softer these days as no ear bleeding was induced during his monologue. We need more ear bleeding in this club!
Seriously though pod crew, thanks for helping me retain my sanity during these trying times.

That should tell you all you need to know. Picked up a few "tips" from the locals.

On my phone the afterwords "brought to you by" seemed to stall with big gaps in between. Maybe it was just my phone being a twit.
Enjoyed the discussion, as usual. Funny that the catch at the cricket happened just as you wrapped up the goalkeeping situation.
