New pod out now, and we have a sweet new cover, created by Fever designer Christo!

After a weekend full of speculation that he'd be selling the club, Rob finally fronted the media, the podcast talk about the rumours and whether the response to them went far enough. The pod run their eye over every player in the Phoenix squad and review their performance this season and we'd want them to stick around for next season, and Team Wellington were held to a 0-0 draw by Auckland City in the first leg of the OCL semifinals.

"The core meaning of refute is ‘prove a statement or theory to be wrong’, as in attempts to refute Einstein's theory. In the second half of the 20th century a more general sense developed, meaning simply ‘deny’, as in I absolutely refute the charges made against me. Traditionalists object to this newer use as an unacceptable degradation of the language, but it is widely encountered"

Good pod boys, I thought the clubs issues were well covered. Now if only other outlets would listen to Robs interview...

Well done on having a pretty well balanced discussion considering the emotive issues.

I wanted to rant much more but Patrick had a hard time limit and kept cutting me off. Probably for the best really.

There's nothing stopping you from releasing a special edition "Dave Rants" podcast though.

Lack of producing or editing skills is the big hurdle there. I'll just save some of it up for an TWGOAT ep instead. I get away with much more rambling on that.

We just finished recording now. Pat was weighing up editing tonight so you might have it in a few hours or else it's probably tomorrow night.

New pod out now, and a very special guest is on this week!

David Dome joins the pod to dispel all the recent rumours about the Phoenix selling the club to Australia, what went wrong last season and what they are doing differently this off-season. Meanwhile, Team Wellington have toppled Auckland City in the OCL for the first time to make it through to the final.

Great pod, there was so much in there to digest. I wish the Phoenix were this candid more often because it would do so much to calm nerves and also debunk a few negative myths that have festered in the absence of information.

Agreed greatpod. Was good hearing some good honest Frank conversation about the good and the bad.
No kiwis overseas though #sackpatrick

Yeah really good to finally hear what's actually going on at the club. Great stuff - does a lot to help calm the nerves.

(Also, Mt Smart over QBE thanks David!).

Great pod guys, good questions asked and Dome was very candid and believable. He kept on talking about lessons learned and I hope he engages more with fans from now on as most of the angst and fear is because we don't know what is happening. Loved that Dome mentioned me as well.

Excellent pod guys. Good to feel some faith in the club after Domey's honesty today and Rob's last week, and the club statement.

Nice pod but sorry David still dosnt get it and sadly nor do some of the guys on the pod. What makes you think 10000 is the figure we should expect despite results buggars me. To think that we would get that number turning up just because its the Phoenix  is smack yourself stuff. Suggest some of you take a look at the attendance records of both the Hurricanes  and the Lions in the last 5 years .Then you expect us to be able to average 10000. Could maybe take it seriously if they set their sights lower and made abig deal when that gets reached but sorry 10000 is dreamland stuff unless we are all wearing toilet seats for scarves.

Pretty sure they mentioned it's to do with the metrics. They have also mentioned before that's about the break even point. I feel like they keep saying the number because that's the goal and what they are trying to reach for business and viability purposes. Just because it's a tough target doesn't mean you change it especially if it's a break even point.

Still a sleep but:  With $40k to open the gates at The Dome. A minimum crowd of 10k is a break even point ( Ok and may the FFA metrix) A lot more cost go on top of the $40k to produce the product we see prior to any team turning up.  To early to work out average ticket price per person etc.

If you don’t want Pro Football in Wgtn do what u .. Edit - now out of bed and at the key board.  But Ballane is not alone in his thinking, he is just voicing what you hear from football people in pubs and at clubs when you go out in a phoenix shirt.

Most don't give a rats arse that someone is forking out $ to provide them games in Wgtn. As you were Fans.

Up early to hear podcast well 2nd 1/4

Personally I'd like to say a thanks to the owners, for providing Kiwis with a professional football team to support. That's effectively what they are doing.

Also hope they can find a white knight/equity partner, to relieve some of that financial burden.

It costs the Nix 40k. What does it cost the the two rugby teams - each?

agree, well said.

. . . and well done to David Dome; came across very well. I doubt that most of those who bag him have a rats arse clue about how difficult his job is. Also agree with his comments about the pathetic, lazy, treatment of the Phoenix by the NZ print media.

and before anyone gets their fingers tapping away on the keyboard, I'm not a happy clapper. Perfectly happy to dish out criticisms where I have sufficient valid evidence to demonstrate that it is warranted.

Exactly Iron. I am pleased the Nix have finally started to defend themselves against to very obvious undermining by the Aussie and Kiwi media. Boofheads here will rejoice of course.
