Warner vs Paston

This is exactly how I feel. As soon as that goal went in I said that it was shocking keeping, and that I want Paston back. However I would NEVER chant against a player on our team, and the Bring Back Paston chant does exactly this, chants against Warner.

I will be one of the first to start the "We love you Paston" chant if he plays on Sunday though, as it is much more positive.

Im going to have to disagree with you on this one. Im surprised people are calling for Warners head after yesterdays result.
Warner has done ok on the whole. If you want to look at stats, this is the best start we have had since the team formed, 21 points from 15 games. Its important for a defence to have a stable goalkeeper behind them. Paston is just too injury prone. We never get a good run of games out of him and you dont want to take a keeper out thats doing ok to replace him with a keeper whos fitness record is quite frankly.......shocking!
For the one or two goals that Warner could have done better with, i think he is pretty solid and his communication with his defence is far better than Pastons. Ricky shouldn't be tinkering with the team with one eye on an (unconfirmed) international friendly, which is in reality, just a runout. If Ricky really wants Paston to have game time maybe he should make him available for loan so he will be sharp for the international game.
Paston has played less than 80 top class professional games, and at 35 thats very poor, however you you look at it!
My vote is to leave Warner in, he's played his part in the best start, and we maybe halfway to the best finish that we've ever had if we start pulling up away from home!

Other thing I like about Tony is that he's got a long and accurate throw, although his kicks from the ground look a little weak sometimes. Pasty's the opposite.

This forum really disappoints me sometimes. Goldienz, your criticising a player for his dive when the ball ISNT even on target. What chance has the boy got? We have a keeper who has got a lot of experience, the defence look comfortable with him, so if it aint broke don't try and fix it.
I think you have an unhealthy obsession with Paston lol. What was your take on Pastons (non) effort with the Gold Coast goal? I think it was saveable, i think a keeper should dive no matter what, to give themselves a chance of saving it, but these things do happen. I for one wasn't calling for his head, i just thought he could of made an effort. While we are on the point of Gold Coast, i dont think there would be half the comments on here if Moss was still fit. As it happens he isnt, so this just revs up the Pro Paston crowd for the international game.

Most importantly, i think you must have to consider what goes on behind closed doors. Ricky must see the both of them at close quarters at least five times a week in training and he's picked Warner since he started against Newcastle. If he really is that bad and Paston is such a superior keeper, surely he would have been found out by now. So he must be doing something right, or low and behold, Paston might not be doing the business. To sum it up, if Paston was better he would be playing!!!!!!!!!!
Paston is just a victim of his own poor fitness record and at 35 its not going to get any easier for him. He has given up his position three times in the last three seasons, even i was surprised that he only lasted one game this term. Consistency is a problem, its a problem we can ill afford with a keeper. Why bring Warner out and put in a keeper that on past form will potentially break down, then have to put a disgruntled keeper back in when we are coming up to a crucial part of the season.

Goldienz, im somewhat impressed by your microscopic analyzation of Warners diving technique. Do you fancy a career change? You should become the next Phoenix goalkeeping coach, because by the sounds of it you are very qualified lol!

Why not? Players should be picked on form. Warner isn't in form. Same rules for Pasty I would have thought.

Paston's 5 years faster than Warner and much better one on one. And letting goals in at the near post like Warner did today is just embarrassing. And he knows it, too - look at his face after the goal today. Have never felt as nervous with Paston every time the ball comes near and he's asked to do something.

Surely it was actually far post in relation to where the free kick took place...
