Fury will almost certainly fold.

Payne is going to Newcastle, Cernak to Victory, Pasfield to CCM and Malik back to Adelaide.

Any players we would pinch? Williams is probably the only one I'd have but not sure if we need him. Hughes could be a good North replacement.

I would definitely pinch those two, good call. Also, I would buy Daal and make him water boy captain and occasionally a ball boy!

Re: earlier posts --> I think it's a bit dumb letting Vuko go. I really like Paston but he said himself that he hasn't got much left..maybe a couple more years. And here we are, one of the best Aussie keepers playing for us, a bright young talent and we're gonna lose him. It doesn't make much sense.

Also, we do need Joel. Tim Brown is my 2nd favorite player in the world, for real, after Francesco Totti, but we can't rely on him scoring 8-10 goals each season. We need a striker who nets them by the dozen AND midfielders who can find the target. So if you're reading this, Joel, come to Welly, the World Capital of Nutcracking.

Jesus motorscootin' wept, what would Pasty have to do to convince some of you people? Save a penalty to qualify us for the World Cup? Or perhaps keep out Italy's strikers from general play for 90 minutes? Oh wait.

might need to do it more regularlyl....vuko is still the better keeper

Their fullbacks, Kilian and Hingert (could still be a youth player next season) and possibly Hughes if we need to replace North.Bullion2010-12-08 12:07:33

williams for sure. Doubt he'd be too keen. But he's quick and can fill a few roles. Very passionate player too.
Except he's got a contract over next year so hes gonna be off the market unless they do fold.

If vuko does leave, then I'm not happy with Crowther tbh.
What about young Ryan?

Would Ryan come over here though to sit on the bench, why would he. Paston won't be dropped until he gets injured or retires, and to develope and go further he needs to be playing. If Vukovich sat on the bench what makes you think Ryan would be any different, Vuko was if not/one of the best keepers in the league. Reddy only played because Pasty was injured.

Would be better getn a NZ under 17 or 20 keeper if they are going to ride the pine, they could learn in the professional environment, and now have the challenge series to get some game time. Or bring back spoonley (i did rate him, but haven't seen him play lately).

[QUOTE=Doloras] I love Ricki's approach that he doesn't change a winning team.
Is that why we are unbeaten at the top of the League? He also struggles to change a loosing team, and only when it is pretty much forced on him, but thats for another thread.

Keen to sign David Williams if possible, more pace on our line up is always good, puts more pressure and quality into those wing roles which are so crucial for us.
Who plays left back for them/ is he any good?
We need someone who can cover for Lochy is (heaven forbid) he is ever injured, lessen our
dependence on Hearfield and give our backs more depth.

Ufuk Talay? Could make some funny chants if nothing else.

Kilian is their LB. Played 2nd team football for some bundesliga team I think. Would be a sh*t load better than what we've been making do with. raynes2010-12-08 15:55:29

Not surprising when he's been 3rd choice for over a year. Maybe he'll end up back in the Finnish division he was playing in.

I wouldn't mind him staying on the bench for us as second choice, especially after Pasty has had a good run without injury.

Bet Rocket Reddy wishes he had stayed though, he would still be first choice the way he played for us.

If Vukovic goes then I think we should look at getting Liam Reddy back. Sydney probably don't want him now anyway.

Is that rumour about Vukovic going to Perth true?

Wouldn't mind Petkovic...

If you leave the Phoenix as a keeper you are guaranteed to have a sh*t next season. Look at Moss and now Reddy. It's a curse mwahahahahahahahhahaahhaahahah

Carry on.

I doubt it too - from what I've heard, he places a lot of value on being a role model to Aboriginal Australians, he'd be less able to do that living in New Zealand.

Yep, no chance really - he's a bit of a legend tbh

Don't rate Killian at all

What about Brad McDonald? plays left back and he's a youth player? Future cover for Lochead?
Shame there's not much chance of getting Williams, their best player in my books.phoenix_luver2010-12-09 12:35:24

Andre Kilian would be worth a shot from the few games I have seen.
This is a postion (LB) we struggle with.
Lets be honest when Lochead is fit he is similar to Bertos = Hot/Cold.

I think Lochhead doesn't get the credit he might actually deserve. He's not a flashy player by any means, but when he's out injured there is certainly a hole there.

The only thing he has over anyone else is that he is left- footed.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

No, that's just because we don't have another left back. Doesn't mean he's a better player.

Simon Elliott said on radio sport this morning that his contract ends on Sunday,he's heading back home to the USA for christmas and think about his next move.    Good luck to him.  Shame he didn't have the impact we were all hoping for.

He'll be disappointed he didn't get more game time.  Wouldn't mind this weeks bench having Vukovic, Elliott, Rojas, and MacAllister.  Hopefully if we're winning Simon can come on in the second half.

When does Griffiths arrive?

Yeah there was a bunch of articles about being in talks, and then we played that woeful away game at Newcastle and suddenly nothing... lets just hope he was watching us against Adelaide to see that we're not always like that Newcastle game.

Frees up room for Vukovic to go there now. Provided Velaphi is happy as backup.

Or Velaphi goes too and they keep this young Pearson as backup. Which could well happen.simon_hampton2010-12-11 11:38:30

Seems more definite than that now, according to the West news this morning, Vuko going there

"Glory have signed Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Danny Vukovic for next season, while Velaphis contract expires at the end of the season."
