Who would have thought that by adding Jade North, Danny Vukovic, Simon Elliott, Nick Ward and now Joel Griffiths, that we would be worse off than last season. That is some outstanding recruitment. Still can't get my head around Vukovic not starting and Sigmund getting some sort of preference over North. All should be starters.Griffiths is the exact player we need, someone who can score goals!

...you mean apart from the fact that Sigmund has been better than North, that it's a hysterical joke that he gets call-ups for the Socceroos ahead of Durante or even some 55yo playing for Sydney United's Masters side?

Crazy suggestion with regards to North, but has he ever played higher up the park, say RM?  He's gone up there several times in recent games getting Siggy or whoever to cover him and tried to make things happen in and around the box.  Almost seemed to have more of a clue than some of the current mids.

That is true and he is also being played out position. Durante took a while to start playing at his  best for us so it may only be a matter of time for North. However, would he want to re-sign with us? He seems to have a lot of ambition and his wages are pretty high for us to afford. I say if he is willing to take a pay cut then we should re-sign him

Ricki obviously hates Oughton, because we havent signed him yet.

He also obviously hates Christiano Ronaldo because we haven't signed him either

Its time Ricki starts putting his obvious personal prejudices aside and do whats best for the team.

Allegedly

I wouldn't bother trying to resign the likes of Daniel as he is no more than a substitute player in this club. Better to spend the money and the place on someone with a future and/or the ability to really press for a starting position. I'm a Daniel fan but wonder at his value to the playing side of the club now.

Pretty sure all the lists around have said Daniel is contracted for next year.

"Phoenix players now contracted beyond the current season are: Mark Paston, Manny Muscat, Tim Brown, Leo Bertos, Paul Ifill, Chris Greenacre, Daniel Cortes, Mirjan Pavlovic, Vince Lia, Ben Sigmund and Andrew Durante."

Think we might be kidding ourselves if Vuka wants to stick around here as a back up to Pasty.

I'm not saying this is a fact, just saying what was said at the Backbencher on Wednesday night.

Rodney, from Newcastle, said he sat with Manny's dad at the Newcastle game. Rodney says Joel Griffiths will be at the Phoenix in January...

Yeah, people who are told things by dogs are generally unreliable.

I heard somewhere, can't remember where, that one of our ex-Jets players wants out to return to the Jets. No idea who it is though. Might be all false though can't really remember.

so if he's contracted and they want him they will have to pay us a couple of million dollars, hopefully.
Not happy to get rid of him, but I think that's what clubs do, too. They get unknown players for next to nothing and make a profit out of them.

Newcastle - or any other A-League clubs - cannot purchase or sell players to other A-League clubs. We will grant him an early release if it does happen, and I see it as unlikely. We won't make any money unless he goes overseas.

Manny Muscat needs a three year deal. He's a no-nonense player who in many eyes has been our best this season. I think it's great that he's a Maltese international. It's cool having current internationals in the team. But he is a quality player.

Have we resigned Hearfield? I would be very surprised if Jade North wanted to stay here next season, but I really hope he does. Until Jon McKain is a free agent. But if he does go, I wonder if we would ever try get Andy Boyens. Or more importantly, if we would even want Andy Boyens.
