We're not the ones doing the selecting though are we...

I can't see much advantage footballing wise for moving to australia. I'm not saying it'd be for money either.

For a youngster with ten A-League starts, some of which (away) weren't entirely convincing?

Every club 'bigger' than us is capped up the Wahzoo.  We're not.

A very astute point, Sir.

If he does go, I think I'll be giving this place a wide berth for a week or two. It's going to be unbearable in here.

Well lets see:

Adelaide, Leckie most likely overseas, Dodd rumoured to Perth should provide squad and cap space. Style fits Marco.

Heart, Sibon, Aloisi, Skoko gone, plenty of cap space, again style suits Marco.

Brisbane, Style suits Marco, however still uncertainty on $ and competition for starting spots.

GCU, no Culina and Smeltz opens up lots of $, though Miron is coach and you have to play home games at skilled park

Victory, Marvin's contract is running out, Kruse rumoured to go to Germany, Mate not re-signing so $ available. Based on this season formation doesn't suit Marco, Ernie is coach.

If that's the case HN, then the only reason he's leaving is ...karma rebound!

don't play hard to get dave...

If he goes I think it says a lot...about him and his advisors.  There are not many times that I pull out the oyalty call but this is one of them.  I 100% defended Kosta's right to leave, but when a guy with as you rightly say has 10 starts and was playing park football (let's be honest) starts going on about career development elsewhere it's gets me very riled up and it is hard not to feel completely let down.

No-one is bigger than the club and Dave is right - he has about 6/10 great performances in only 10 pro matches.  It just stings to see kiwi talent not playing for the kiwi team, when there seems to be no real reason for him choosing to play his football elsewhere.

IF he does go. I'll be very interested to hear what his reasons are for moving on.

Completely agree about bringing in New Zealanders. We should have all the top New Zealanders who are in the A-League. Brockie and Wee Mac would be ideal. Especially if Rojas left.

But after Ricki told Brockie he was going to be there in season 1 but then never actually followed it up, I can't ever see him coming to Wellington.

I've never been that sold on Brockie, to be honest. Prepared to be proved wrong tho'.

Wee mac would be the better player. But Brockie was very handy against Honduras. His crossing was accurate. With Wee Mac off contract, he could be an option whether Rojas stays or goes. Could replace Ward.

Wee Mac is a different kettle of fishies altogether. Love to see him in a Nix shirt.

(Particularly as he trained with Partick Thistle before he came back to the A League. Tenuous connections, that's what it's all about!)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Yep, completely agree with this.

If anyone should feel a bit of loyalty to their club and its supporters its Rojas (imo).

All this loyalty stuff is a bit interesting.

Why was Kosta applauded for leaving but Marco is expected to stay?  He's at the end of his deal (like Kosta) and if he has better options on the table than the Nix then surely he has to take one of them?

Saying things like "I think it says a lot about him and his advisors" suggests you have a very full understanding of what his competing options are.  If you do then fair enough, but if you don't then I think you should let the kid make his own decision and just be pleased for him that he's "made it".

Who would have thought that the little lad we brought to Wellington on trial two years ago would now be the subject of offers from half the clubs in the league?  That's awesome I reckon, and whether he's a Phoenix player or not he'll always have a special place in Fever history.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Agreed JD loyalty is a big deal. We'd all love it if Rojas and family choose to stay here out of loyalty alone.
But put yourself in the Rojas' shoes, this is Marco's career and  the Rojas family's future..especially when they can't be sure the Phoenix definitely has a future yet.
In fact, that's exactly how the Victory negotiators would paint the picture.
Sure we may choose to be loyal to Terry and trust that the deal is done...but is it?
Melbourne to the Rojas family right now is like the " bird in the hand"....
Sure, last night's cold, left over, size 16 Tegal chicken.. but it's there for them, if they want it.

The Nix? They're the free range, plump turkey,on the bushy fringes, shows promise, but hard to tie down... and its a long time till Christmas.

He only has to wait until mid march to find out if Terrys loan deal is 100% on. If he wants to play for the Phoenix he can wait this long. If other a-league clubs are lining up at his door, they will still be there in a few days.

I'm just dreading that Rojas leaving will be another thing that the anti-herbert brigade will jump on. I've already seen posters on a few other sites say that if he goes its because Ricki only played him at the end of the season (completely ignoring the injury he had).
