What a pity that our major rivalry is with the supporters of a club who don't even play in our league. In any sense of the term.

Haters gonna hate.

It's like Sunderland fans attacking Newcastle - they're just doing it because there's nothing at all to say about their own team.

Well, if David Mulligan is one of your star players, perhaps a bit of modesty is in order.

OK if that post was remotely true then I only care about the marco thing. Ward going to heart would be an ideal move for both parties so that doesnt suprise me in the least.

But Marco to belgium is interesting?? Although I doubt anyone would actually be right with that sort of guess. (Actually reminds me of something Chotey said on the podcast-maybe thats their source?)

The worst part was the idea of him going to another A-League club.
Ewww - the thought. Damn we should have made a big "STAY MARCO" banner for the last home game

How would Ward going to heart be ideal for us?

Yeah, but to be fair, once she took her tablets she calmed down a lot

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Troy Hearfield has taken up a contract at Central Coast Mariners for two seasons while Danny Vukovic is heading to Perth Glory for three seasons. Nick Ward decided not to renew his contract as he prefers a move back to Australia and is wanted by Perth Glory and Melbourne Heart. Diego Walsh's contract was not renewed and he will pursue options in the United States. Toto Cornejo was not offered a new contract and was released back to South America. Daniel's contract was not renewed and he will explore options in the ASB Premiership as he looks to become eligible for the New Zealand national team. Jade North was granted an early release to explore options in Japan and Holland. Reece Crowther was not offered a new contract and is being targeted by League 2 and Conference sides in England as well as clubs in the United States. Marco Rojas rejected Wellington Phoenix's offer of youth marquee instead preferring to make a move overseas with clubs in Belgium, France and Holland all having shown interest, should an overseas move fall through, he is likely to join one of Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC as he believes there are further opportunities to develop his career. Dylan MacAllister was not offered a new contract with club looking to explore other options in the attacking third, MacAllister has been attracting the interest of Melbourne Heart, Gold Coast United and Sydney FC.

From the Phoenix wiki page

How much truth is here in regards to Ward and Rojas??

And the only one that really pisses me off is Daniel. If we're guna sign Totos we might as well have a loyal club man ready to come off the bench, or bide his time.

No Marco or Ward makes our playmaking stocks a little light. Would make sense to hold Mac the way Ricki plays...He's a donkey, but he gets the cart up the hill.

Belgian and Dutch leagues would be great for Marco. I'm guessing the French offers would come from Ligue 2?

Rojas is apparently over in Melbourne at the moment doing a medical, but my source is from 442 so yeah, don't know how much point there is for me to post this.
I'm not sure if anyone reads my posts anyway...KiwiChick12011-02-24 22:18:16

If he leaves he is another Judas. Throwing it back in the face of the people that gave him the opportunity he at least owes us another season. My thoughts anyway

Wouldnt Melbourne have tried to get Rojas for the ACL if they intended to sign him?

If he goes to another A-League club I will be extremely pissed off, it would be a massive betrayal (and I hope he realises that will be the reaction)

In melbourne could mean with the Heart (who have a lot of cap space considering that Aloisi, Skoko and Sibon are all off)

i agree with what others posted before me.  if he leaves to another a-league team i would wish bad things happen to him

it was because of us that he got a chance, and to do that would throw it back in our face.......
in my eyes it would be much worse than what smeltz done, much much worse

Completely agree.

However if he went overseas I'd be pretty happy for him to get a decent gig (unless he goes to Indonesia or something, ugh)

I'll be a littled pissed but under the uncertain circumstances it would be understandable. If things were normal at the club I'd be well ratted, but still recognise his right to play where he wants.

Another offer on the table. This is good management by Roddy on behalf of Marco (but he'd better stay).

Oh wow Rojas. f**k you.

why so angsty towards Rojas, he doing everything right, weighing up the options.....he has to do what's best for him and if he's looking for a guaranteed start each week I'd say the nix is where he needs to be.

Rickie did say that they had an offer on the table for Rojas and it was open regarding money and conditions. i.e they were happy to negotiate. So it sounds like the club has been proactive in trying to keep him.

I would be slutted if he goes to Melbourne....a club that only finished one place above us on the Table. I could, at a pinch, slightly understand him going to the Roar for playing reasons.
If he goes overseas then fair enough. If he goes to another A-League club then my whole faith in football will be shattered.

in the mean time we should not bad mouth the kid until an announcement is made one way or the other. He has handled this very profesionally by keeping his mouth shut.

At the end of the last game of the season at the ROF Rojas stayed on and signed autographs. When I left after 25 mins there was still a queue 40 metres long waiting for him to sign their stuff. He is adored here. Why would you go to Melbourne where he may not even be likey to start..........

It could be that the Tards and/or the Cakes are offering absolutely stupid amounts of money. The other, wider question is - is there a link between this Age article and the wiki edit from yesterday? It could be someone who really does have inside info leaking for... I dunno, the sake of leaking. Or it could be someone in the Rojas camp doing their damndest to put the acid on Ricki/Terry. I can't believe that they would have leaked this if they were actually deadset going - what would be the point of encouraging Ricki/Terry to give up trying?

But... jesus christ, not the Tards. Please, please, not the Tards.
