Did mulligan get a decent run as a midfielder with the Nix? I can't remember it. So WTF went on? why did he get shunted to RB? why were Diego and Toto prefered?. He looked fine last night in the midfielder....he certainly can pass a ball better than Brown.

Did people see the same Mulligan I saw last night? The one who single-handedly accounted for more than half of our fouls because he didn't read the situation properly, and repeatedly gave the ball away?
The guy has two decent strikes on goal, two decent passes and one good covering tackle, and that's the sum total of all the good things he did last night.
And for the umpteenth time, if Mulligan's such a good central midfielder (which he's clearly not), why has he spent most of his professional career as a right back?

I swear I've read articles where Mulligan himself says he's no right back and centre mid is his best posi

Not quite as harsh as you, but I pretty much agree - especially on the repeatedly giving the ball away.

150+ games at RB in the UK would suggest otherwise.

Would love to see Fitzgerald come here on loan if the Franjic thing isn't true. Though Franjic could well just be in NZ for a holiday (though why would he go to Wellington? There are nicer places (no offence intended, if anyone's feeling touchy)) so there could be nothing to do with the Phoenix.

Why do footballers nowadays need to have a Twitter account?
Whats wrong with a good old fashioned addiction to Playstation???

Interesting article on Fitzgerald on the home page (NZ Herald piece)
Great ending: "Rufer has not always been flavour of the month with the local footballing community but it's hard to argue with what he's producing."

Rufer does offer residential long term programs in Auckland with hosting families for kids from outside Auckland. Whether or not Fitzgerald came from that, do not know.
Rufers marketing position to parents is that he offers what no other NZ program can- substantial contacts abroad he can call on for the right players.
(He's not marketing like other academies do for US uni scholarships, but targeting direct pro deals for talent)

Ive never thought that Mulligan was any good and after last nights performance see no reason to change my mind now

what he's producing? If my sources are correct, these players only have to go to a wyners course for three days to be declared a product of the wyners academy. Hardly enough time to turn someone into an AW.
I believe that Fitzgerald,Rojas and Wood are all from Rufer's programme.

Yes I know. BUt if they had only spent a couple of days in the programme it hardly means the man is a genius.

Why dont you find out before knocking it though ( ^^hardly the post of an understudy lawyer
) I'm not a Wynton fan, but if I had a coaching programme and any of my boys came through to be in the All Whites, I'd be crowing from the rooftops. If Wynton got them a start in some of these places that they are coming from to be drawn into the All Whites, even more kudos.

I think some are a bit harsh on Wynton. Ok, so he can be a bit ... testy and there is no doubt his academies are first and foremost a business.
However he is regularly down in Wellington and is there playinf with the young academy kids at Rongotai - he is great with kids, gets stuck in and seems to genuinely enjoy what he is doing.
Seen him respond to a 'greatest goal ever' question with - "the one i just scored, where (8 year player) set it up - and gone into great details about the run of play.
NZ football is better for his involvement, not worse.

But how long has he actually had them for? that would be the test rather than how someone might qualify to be classed as a Wyners product.

Cruzeiro wants to get rid of this guy as they have 8 attackers at the moment. He is young and pretty decent. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/reis/profil/spieler_128934.html
