We could look at some NQF players. I think Killian would be a good addition to the squad. Would also be stoked if we could get Gareth Edds to play next to Tim Brown and Muscat. He's an ex Tranmere player, so Greenie could give him a good word.

let's not forget that we used to have
Dura/McKain/Siggy
now we have Dura/North/Siggy
next year we might be looking at Dura/Siggy/Musa.

We already have our Aus Marquee in North, right?
Why not try to keep him here for another year or two?

I would be really happy if we can keep Jade North, Nick Ward and Troy Hearfield. As Ryan's Rovers pointed out, though, North is likely to be number one on the list to replace Ljubo.
We can afford to lose Oscar Cornejo, Diego Walsh, Reece Crowther, Vince Lia, Daniel and Dylan Macalister, but any other player will be hard to replace.
I say we target the MLS and the Scandinavian leagues for players. They're kind of the next step up from the A-League.
You never know, Ricki may see a Chinese player he likes when we're over there.Luis Garcia2011-01-03 18:13:21

No one has heard anything regarding possible guest signings? Think we still need someone to replace Ifill if we want to get into the finals. I guess it'd have to be someone pretty special to slot in seamlessly, though

On the CB issue - i'd get rid of North and sign Hughes from NQ. He's class. Only issue is that he takes up an import spot.

Don't think we can comment too much on Musa until he plays as a CB which I think probably suits him a hell of a lot more than fullback.

Edds has been one of NQ's worst lately and is more frustrating than Ferrante in front of goal. Would just be more of the same for us.

To move forward I still think we need a Flores/Hernandez/Culina-type player. I guess the only issue is that kind of player doesn't really fit into our normal systemvaleo2011-01-03 18:58:18

I would be very nervous having musa as our first choice reserve cb based on his brief cameos thus far. It's similar to having pav as your only reserve striker

Yeah that wouldnt be very ideal, so finding a RB that can cover CB would be a better option

Right back, that can cover Centre back, aussie, experienced at higher levels, near the end of their contract and might be interested in comming 'home' after a career in europe. Only 1 name jumps to mind that meets that...

Lucas Neill

Can we afford him? Prob not. Would he want to play for us? Prob not.

Really? I'm looking forward to seeing Toto prove his worth. I know he hasn't got many opportunities at all, and he should get some, but he is yet to impress on game day.

I think it's unfair to be harsh on Musa. The kid has hardly played, but he has not looked too out of depth. I'd prefer to see us encouraging and growing young talent, especially if they're Kiwis, rather than investing in older journeymen.

I don't know how I forgot him. Nikolai Topor-Stanley is off contract next year. Is the exact position we want.

I heard Smeltz might be looking at coming back to NZ for 2011-2012.

My dog told me when I took her for a walk today. Maybe not the most reliable source, but a source nonetheless.

think he'll be going over to Europe mate (he's been saying so for a while now). If he doesn't move on, he'll stay somewhere in Aussie I'd say, or just stay put at the Jets.

He is good, but very over rated.

After a few posts of players I want, I have come to a realistic decision.

Trent McClenahan
25 years-old
Right back
Only made one appearance for Sc**thorpe Utd and is only there on a six month contract.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trent_McClenahan

Trent McClenahan if we don't keep hold of Jade North
Nikolai Topor-Stanley/Andre Killian
Glen Moss - Replaces Vukovic/Crowther
Michael McGlinchey/the age old want of Chris James - Replaces Diego
Plus a striker or two and lose Big Mac
Re-sign Hearfield and Ward.

Don't think a 3rd CB is at the top of our list.

speaking of RB. Zadkovich has been doing well for the Jets this season. Does anyone know if he is contracted for next season?

Also, my cat confirmed rumors of the Smeltz move to Wellington.

Does Ricki even have a list?

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

AT the moment I would imagine Ricki has a list of things he needs to do to keep the club climbing the ladder and hopefully is worrying about that, not which grossly over-hyped piece of Australian rubbish he might sign if Terry suddenly finds some money in a matress or similar.

Incidentally, Zadkovich?

FFS people, just because someone is available doesn't mean we want them.  The Zad?  Deary me.

So is he available? I don't like jumping on the "he's free - let's snatch him" wagon, I was just thinking that since we need a RB why not looking at him? I mean, I could do a better job than Party-all-the-time ffs!

I agree that he's not the best RB I've ever seen but:

- He shoots, Disco T only clears the ball 50 meters.
- He can cross, Disco T usually hits Greenie in the middle of the Fever Zone
- He has experience overseas, Disco T doesn't.

Overall, I think he's worth looking around. Maybe North could head to Newcastle, especially if Topor S and Big L are heading overseas.

We don't need RBs that can shoot, to be fair. Or cross for that matter. We need strikers and wingers who can do that sh*t first.

Sorry mate, I have a contract with University, so can't play for the Nix unless they pay the club my release clause, which is worth about $23, or a semi-used Lotto ball, or a half-eaten Kebab.

I actually think that Troy has progressed immensely since coming to the club, but tbh if we want to have higher aspirations we need to to fill some positions, and RB is the most urgent, to me.

And Paul, with the way Ricky likes to play we DO need fullbacks who can cross and shoot.
It's a shame really (not the first time I say this), that Troy has a great boot on him but hardly ever sets himself up to have a dig. And his crosses let him down.

I think both would start here. And as New Zealanders they should be approached at least. Because they are more likely to come here than an Australian. The more kiwis the better, provided they are quality. We could never compete with the Gold Coast in terms of lifestyle, but there are plenty of other benefits.
