Nonsense. Duty of care my backside. Its professional football not kindergarten

This is actually straight up negligence from Chiefy throwing LBS and Walker into this dumpster fire. You have a duty of care.

Hard to argue with the AFC fans. We do get battered everywhere we go.

I don't even know how to feel anymore. Emotions have swung from hopeful pre kick off to just utter dismay and rage.

Disgusting performance all round. This on a day when we needed to show up the most.

Seasons done, and Chiefy needs to go after this monstrosity. Absolutely fudgeing horrendous.

Giancarlo Italiano you need to resign tonight.

Yep Chiefy needs to move on now. Nice idea to focus on youth etc, but the owners & us fans deserve to win something. Otherwise what's the point. Appreciate how much our owners have put into this, but Auckland have lifted the NZ benchmark, and to be honest I hope they win the Premiership. It's deserved.

There you go lads. How do we feel about that?

A bit harsh. Auckland on paper and on the field just have a much better squad.

Western United have a poor squad on paper and are having a great season and beat them. Perth Glory may have a poor squad and be having an awful season but they beat Auckland too. Adelaides squad isn't much stronger than ours on paper yet they're way up the table and almost beat Auckland too.

About half the league is running on threadbare squads reliant on youth products and yet on form we are perhaps the worst and definitely the most boring and least creative.

Should we have strengthened the squad more? Absolutely. Is the squad strength an excuse for the abysmal football we are playing? Absolutely not.
There were glimpses of pretty good attacking play today despite the scoreline - defensively we were all over the place but I actually enjoyed watching us try to go forward.
I'll be honest here I watched like 5 minutes of the second half

I'm the first to crap on Chief tonight, but the owners have also got to answer for all of the sales they made last year. They gutted the squad. Sure, it's the way we operate financially, but you don't win leagues with Piper as a starter

Whatever the fudge was chiefs plan tonight, if there was one at all, was absolutely dire. It was some amateur hour shark. The wheels have fallen off and it's starting to look like last year worked out because we had special players and not because of the manager. Diabolical. I hope he walks tonight

mate, they're absolute quality. the imports are first class and the kiwis are right up there with them. i'm a big admirer.

you're right about their budget. we dont have that, so we have to build something. we started in 2007 and have never built anything that has come close to the title. we build mini teams each season and see how we go. then we build another one the next season. every other club has come close or won it. we're sitting here watching while yet another first year club makes us look super average.

so, i agree with you. and i am also, as a kiwi, loving what auckland are doing. but what a actual heck are we doing?

I don't like it when fans get overly negative and go at each but seriously mate.

"and have never built anything that has come close to the title."

We were incredibly close to the title last year.

I’m sorry, what? We made the semi final. That is not “incredibly close to the title”.

This mentality is why we have never won anything as a club.
Ah is that the title you prefer?

My bad I thought first in the league was the title most football fans careful about (which we were 2 points off from winning).

And what's with your obsession with telling fans that them seeing positivity in rough times is why we have never won anything as a club?  Me not wanting to be always ultra negative doesn't affect how the players play on the field.

Auckland will do it in 1 year. We’ve not done it in 17.

How do you feel about that?
good question.

I mean based on the comment I made that you're responding to it must be implied that you reckon the fans mentality is what has them winning.  To that I reckon it's probably the players that have won the games.

But if I answer your question in isolation of the conversation, I feel it would be awesome if some rich team essentially fed millions of dollars of players into our club.

Auckland FC essentially spent millions on just the keeper by using another club to buy the player and then loaning him to the club.

I'm not surprised that club doing those shenanigans with finances is doing really well.

But I'm also not going to be negative and blame game results on fans mentalities because I personally think that's not the reason a team wins or loses games.  This season is rough, and I've sat through plenty of rough seasons, but that's sport.  I love my club, shark or not.  And I will do what I can to enjoy watching every game.

Auckland clearly the best time in the comp. Give them the Premiers Plate now.

Won 5 of their last 6 games, and the non win was a 2-2 draw in Adelaide where they were agruably robbed of a victory.

Strong all over the park, with bench players that would mostly all start at other clubs, superbly fit, and an experienced title winning coach. Would be a surprise from here if that don't get to host the Grand Final.

Man we got smashed. I'm glad I was out and missed all that.

People will say they have millions/billions. But really It's a salary cap league and they are getting it right in year 1, on and off the field.  We call a good year making the finals.

I love the phoenix but I'd love to have a season like auck one day.... 😢

If only we'd kept Pennington and Kraev at least... (not counting the ones we sold). We are playing too many kids at once.

Elliot and Rogerson show us what we’re missing again today.

We’ve got to study exactly where in the head Rogerson got hit each time and see if we can replicate it in training with our players. Lad is having a season. Great hit for his second, but how poor from Payne in the lead up.

This was humiliating. This score will stand probably for ever.
I was to positive I thought we only lose 4:0.
I‘m saying this for a while, Italiano needs to go. There is no excuse, we need to stop being to nice.
Greenacre as Interims coach? He had some pedigree in this position.

Chiefy really must go.  To often the ball is given away and mostly in dangerous areas, defensively poor especially central, players to often being played in numerous positions therefore unable to settle.  I could go on and on but ultimately all of the above comes down to the Coach.  I don't think he could pick his nose far less an attacking style of football.  On a lighter note it was good to see Rohas back and the Portuguese player looks like he could be useful.
As for playing younger players I would say that if they are good enough then they are old enough.
Please Chiefy put us out of our misery and resign tonight.

Who cares how good Geraldes is, he isn't saving our season and he isn't staying beyond the end of it. What a waste of everybody's time for him to have come in the first place

Well I said earlier this game could change our season. This could well make it worse. I feel for the players.

Disagree. This is a very good Auckland side.
Will be tough to make finals. But Chico, Rufer and Rojas will now all play big roles for the last 9 games. Sutton will be back for Melb City - he was very much missed today. Payne hopefully getting fitter so doesn't again make tired dumb giveaways like today

The season will get better from here. This was the nadir. Roofs will have absolutely have hated this scoreline, he won't allow standards to drop, or players to sulk for long.

Edit - on a brighter note, all the younger players will have learnt alot from a game like this. LBS won't make that same pass near his goal again. The Nix had five NZU20 players out there today. Auckland had none. Phoenix also two 20 yr olds (Hughes & Sheridan) starting. The Black Knights's youngest, were 22 yr olds Francois & Randall off the pine.
