Righty ho, 7.  May be there's an opening ceremony.

Or we get to see the teams getting off the bus etc.

doesn't seem to be on tv in the UK (although not surprising as the game as on at the same time as the Champions League fixtures - don't imagine that many people are going to chose Raja Casablanca vs Auckland as opposed to Napoli vs Arsenal)

Interesting to watch a NZ team other than the Nix. Auckland down 1-0 but it could have been 3.

At this level NZ sides are not quick enough and technically nowhere near the standard.

They will have to go for it in the 2nd half and maybe Krishna can turn this one around.

Is this on Sky? I'm sure I read somewhere that it was, but can't see it on any of the 4 Sports channels on iSky. Don't really want to open a dodgy stream from somewhere else on my work computer.

I have said this repeatedly. We do not have a first touch to be anywhere near competitive whether we have a team of imports or not. I would prefer a team of Kiwis.

I've picked a 3-0 score line (and I would love to be wrong but...)

raja screwed up at the back and Krishna stole the ball for an easy goal wow

Nice goal from Krishna to level it.

10 mins to go, still 1-1

So if this is a draw at 90 minutes I'm presuming it goes to extra time rather than straight to penalties?

Raja scores, 3 mins of extra time left.

Auckland certainly played a lot better in the 2nd half but the reality is that the  Casablanca side were better and deserved to win.

ACFC proved worthly opponents. Wonder if the Nix would have done any better.

ACFC were slow with everything they did, typical kiwi side defended well worked hard out of possession. Passing to slow first touches second touch tackle.

1-2. Well done lads. Robbed of extra time by last minute Raja goal means you go out with heads held high and hopefully back next year (without Ivan?)

Was a competitive game and once again from time to time we held our own against fulltime pros.

I don't fancy Raja's chances against the Monterray in their next match. Shame we won't be playing them. It would have been good to see a Kiwi v Mexico rematch so soon.

Enjoy your Xmas and N Year break fellas.

I think ACFC did us proud. They appeared slower, which is to be expected against full-time professionals, but often retained possession well and showed considerable composure. Liked the introduction of Tade and Browne, showed attacking intent. Krishna seemed to be everywhere. This was probably the last CWC hurrah for Vicelich, Danko, Pritchett and Dickenson (note three of them Kiwis JV). I bet Fifa breathed a sigh of relief at the final result. ACFC almost spoilt the party once again. Well done lads.

Well played Auckland. To lose in the last minute is always gutting. The locals were better on the ball and had more pace but Auckland more than held their own. Liked the way Ramon had them drilled. They kept their shape very well, they pressed well and they tried to move the ball around. They were just a little slow on the pass and lacked sharpness up front which let them down.

I'm really starting to warm to Ramon as a coach. His teams look well coached, you can see the patterns he's getting them to play. I hope he moves further up the feeding chain in NZF very soon. At very least assistant AW level and I wouldn't be upset to see him get the top job if we go for the low budget local option. If he can get a bunch of part timers playing like that then I would like to see him with a full pro team.

What's is the difference? Danko spent most of his life in NZ, Just because he was born in Croatia doesn't make him less Kiwi than Ivan.

You highlight 3 Kiwis. Good for you. Name another 5 or 6 that played and then, you can talk to me. Until then, you're just a team full of imports.

Go on, deny it.

I agree, but was pointing out that comment was  actually incorrect. Same as Pritchett, who came out as a kid from the UK.

AUCKLAND Positive excitement those are the words chosen by Auckland City coach Ramon Tribulietx ahead of the draw for the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2011 scheduled for tomorrow.

The Oceania champions join a stellar cast in a draw that include Asias Al-Sadd, European giants FC Barcelona, Africas Esperance, Club du Futbol Monterrey of Mexico and Brazils Santos and the as yet unknown J-League winners.

Despite the pomp of the draw ceremony, Tribulietx already knows Auckland will play the winners of the J-League in Toyota City on December 8. Its the specific identity of those opponents that remains a mystery. What Tribulietx does know is Auckland City will have a game on their hands.

ï¿½Whichever J-League team we draw will be very difficult to beat, Tribulietx said, we train everyday and tailor the players programmes to fit with their jobs and study commitments. But the players are excited - but it is a positive excitement I think its healthy.

Two points separate Kashiwa Reysol, Nagoya Grampus Eight and Gamba Osaka in a three-way chase for the J-League title with three rounds left.

It will be more difficult this time its the Japanese champions on their own ground. But were leaving nothing to chance and well be prepared for the game. Were ambitious and believe were a good team were going to give it our best effort, Tribulietx said.

Auckland City has overcome similar odds before.

Two years ago, a 0-3 loss to Mexicos Atlante was bookended by a 2-0 win over Al Ahli and a 3-2 win over African champs TP Mazembe a side that finished runners-up to Inter Milan last year.

What we achieved in Abu Dhabi in 2009 doesnt happen very often so we must be realistic about our chances, he said, anytime an amateur team plays a professional side, you have a tough game.

If Auckland City pulls off an upset win, they must then back up for a quarter-final showdown with either Esperance, Al-Sadd or Monterrey, just two days later. As the Rugby World Cup showed, a short turn around between games for smaller nations can prove an insurmountable obstacle.

Tribulietx believes one game a time philosophy works best.

We have to concentrate on the first game and worry about the second one when and if it happens. I think everybody is aware the challenge is different this time playing the J-League winners first. There is no pressure to repeat what we did two years ago, Tribulietx said.

Auckland City plays two games before departing for Japan.

On Saturday, they face Hekari United of Papua New Guinea at Kiwitea Street in the O-League before their final ASB Premiership game with YoungHeart Manawatu on Sunday week, also at home.

One player who could be missing from Saturdays game with Hekari is All White midfielder Chad Coombes who was injured during the 3-1 win over Waitakere on Sunday.

Its hard to say how long Chad will be missing maybe ten days, we hope it is a lot shorter than that, Tribulietx said.

Aucklands squad has plenty of depth with another former All White James Pritchett an able replacement while former Rangers youngster Andrew Milne has impressed in training.

Only one of them is a Kiwi.-- Vicelich is the only one born in NZ

What's is the difference? Danko spent most of his life in NZ, Just because he was born in Croatia doesn't make him less Kiwi than Ivan.

I agree, but was pointing out that comment was  actually incorrect. Same as Pritchett, who came out as a kid from the UK.
Don't be so defensive.

I don't have any reason to be defensive, just don't understand your point. The term "Import" should be used appropriately. I see as "import" Auckland players who came to NZ purely to play football, for example spanish players, Dickinson etc. Other players, who were either born or brought to the country as kids, grew up and spent the majority of their lives in NZ (are NZ citizens), in my view are Kiwis (Vicelich, Feneridis, Danko, Pritcherd etc.).
At the end of the day we've all migrated here at some point of our lives, whether directly or through our ancestors.
