3-2 over Waikato.    Stu rang the changes (not by choice) and started quite a bit of yoof.  Ryan Cain, Justin Gulley and Jessie Smith all getting a start.

Will be interesting to see how they (particularly Gulley) went.

1- Phil IMRAY (GK)
2- Scott ROBSON
4- Michael EAGER
6- Mikey HALIKAIAS
9- Romain CORNAND (Emiliano TADE 54')
14- Hicham KAMRI
15- Jessie SMITH
16- John SUTHERLAND (Peter HALSTEAD 53')
17- Matthew WILLIAMS
23- Ryan CAIN  (Andrew ABBA 65')
22- Justin GULLEY

http://www.asbpremiership.co.nz/index.php?id=1438

Gulley was tidy, did well, good passer and involved himself in the game.

Unfortunately from my point of view, it was a stone cold penalty and in all honesty TW were well worth the win...

Both teams had tonnes of chances, could have gone either way. As for the penalty, definately contact, looked a bit soft to me, thought Abba went down easily. Can't say anything uncomplimentary about the refs on the website though :)

Yes, I know there's another Wellington team plaing on Sunday, but if you happen to be in Auckland on Saturday at 2, find youself to Kiwitea Street in Sandringham. TW against ACFC. I suspect the other match will be on in the club rooms afterwards.

Take headphones so the sound of tutting and knitting needles clacking together don't disturb you.

Also be prepared to see a small number of New Zealand 'football fans' cheering on the Fury.

I shall buy a knitting pattern especially for the occasion.
There's a theoretical possibility of AC catching Waitak, so expect all out attack. TW can go second, so no love lost there. Full on stuff.
Oops, spoke too soon, Hawkes Bay were leading 1-0 with 5 minutes left and Waitak have just levelled. Scratch that bit about AcFc having any chance.
Bloody hell, second correction, for the second time today, nice cross from Bevan to Smith & goal, HB 2-1 over Waitak.edward l2011-02-12 15:52:48

I forget - did JordyBean hate the Kings/Knights as well, or is this a JAFA thing?

He used to drive 7 or 8 hours to support Kiwi players playing in an Aussie league. He also used to drive the 7 or 8 hours to watch all the various All Whites teams play. He still does when they play up here.

His whole focus has always been supporting the NZ game, he attends local club and National League games as well. Snide remarks questioning his commitment just make you look silly.

Ok Phil you put your troll rod in the water and I'll play along and bite for you.

Everyone knows you travel to all the ACFC games at your own expense so surely you can respect a person that drives 7 hours to watch games. No one questions your committment to the knitting circle and I'm sure you'd be pissed off if someone did.

You should be a bit smarter with your stone throwing than taking a holier than thou attitude. If you had a legitimate argument that was reasoned beyond 'we're the 5th best team in the world' then you might actually get respect but you live in this mad existence of there being nothing more than ACFC - remember, you are not the champions or even the 3rd best team in NZ based on last completed league. I'm guessing you don't have a missus or kid either? If ACFC is your whoole life and knocking phoenix supporters is your 2nd hobby, then really, you don't have a life.

Keep trolling, at least it gives me a reason to contribute to the forum and thats a positive.

The worst thing about the knitting circle is that they're not even supporting a real club. They're supporting a franchise in a league which is precisely as artificial as the A-League. If Jordybean supported a real Auckland club - like East Coast Bays, Central United, my beloved Mt Albert-Ponsonby, etc - he'd make some sense. But he just prefers a bullsh*t NZ league to a bullsh*t Australian league, which makes no sense.

Okay, fair enough, good on him. But my point stands that ACFC are no more nor less a "fake franchise club" than WPFC. So he should be on, I dunno, the Northern League forum talking about how the fake NZFC distracts from real Kiwi coalface football.

Is there any club south of the bridge you haven't been involved with though Stack?

JMAP, Metro, Central, Mangere, Waitemata, Eastern Suburbs... and half of those were just last season.

Its about supporting professional football in NZ no matter what the team is called. If you want to have it here it needs to be supported even it it means a bit of a drive.

Yeah, but Jordy, the ASBP is as franchised / fake as the HAL. To be consistent you should be advocating a real NZ National League, like in the old days.

Only if the games are in Wellington, an Auckland team would only last a few seasons before going bust..
