Lads good to be back...been a while. First of all i believe Otago United are going to struggle this year, don't have the depth and are a financial liability. Maximum 3 game win season, might have afew draws if lucky though. Malcolm 'i will coach anywhere for cash' Fleming needs to pull afew strings and get some DECENT out of town players rather than Christchurch based scraps. Best of luck though.

I heard a rumour Matt Thomas is another Chch based player who has just been signed by Otago. Played in a training game here against a U19 side with some other Otago/Canty players.

Looks like you have some decent youth players coming on as well judging by the results so far at the Tsunami U19's in Christchurch https://www.allteams.co.nz/entitypages/article/plaintextarticle.aspx?pid=33511&aid=38559

Dunedin Tech, Roslyn Wakari and Southland Spirit all into the quarter finals at 9:00 tomorrow morning.

I'm up in chch for the weekend, and went to see a few of these games. Saw Roslyn vs Southland. Roslyn played some good football and really should've won by 2 or 3. Hit the post twice in the second half. Southland have a couple of nifty characters up front, but not much else.

Will try to bring myself to watch Tech's quarter final.

Nelson have won all four games without conceding a goal.

I took a couple of my kids along and we watched Coastal smash Avon 6-0
tournament looks very well run, good crowd and nice venue
no surprise so many are flocking to join Coastal Spirit FC

nice to see Vim there volunteering with the scoring role.

Congrats. That's a great result for Nelson football. Half of Canterbury's team that won the national youth league last season was in that Western outfit.

Nelson were classy all weekend. 3rd year at the tourney and they've been better each time. Only 2 ChCh teams in the top 6 . Also well done to Dunedin Tech and Roslyn who put on a great show in the 3rd/4th play-off with Roslyn coming through in a penalty shootout. Great stuff. Out of town teams really raised the standard this year, that includes Waterside Karori who took out the National Girl's U19 title with a good 4-1 win over Coastal Spirit. Great weekend all round.

Great tournamment. Well done Wayne and the other workers. A lot of good talent on display. It was 3-1 in the final for Karori by the way.
That Feni could be very handy for Canterbury in ASB. Farken fast and tricky. Well done to the Nelson dude who did the backflip during the freestyle demo!

Was he also Solomon? If so, it was probably Jerry Donga, another striker from Nayland. He's supposed to be one of the best dancers on the island, his goal celebrations are awesome.

Yea he was Solomon, and a very good player in his own right.

I only saw a handful of Cavvy games this season... but Schwarz (sp?) really impressed me. I thought he was easily the best Cavvy player on the pitch in the Chatham Cup semi. Great build as well. What's his story, and age?

As cultured as Che Bunce's left foot and as profilic as John Lammers

Brendan Crichton mentioned to me before Jerry arrived that he was looking forward to adding him to his team for "Nayland's Got Talent" a talent quest show at Nayland College. I was doing a story on the event, and he was flipping all over the place. Insane dancer. Same goes for when he scored for Suburbs. With him and Gagame Feni sticking around next year, Nayland College should easily have the top two strikers in the country. Both will also be in the Solomon Island U20 squad.

Spotted your 4 Chch based players trying to run some sorta practice a few days before kickoff of the season. Should be interesting considering no one trains with each other.

Just got off the phone to Cambell 'Mr Soccer' Parkin and he has informed me he will be back down south for the summer and is available to play for Otago

Malcolm 'no tips' Fleming, i know you look at this forum quite a bit and I'd suggest you get in touch with Campbell and sign him up

O if he read this another little bit of inside info is that Steven Holloway is living in Queenstown for the summer and is keen to get back involved with national league. He has told a source of mine that he is a bit embarrassed about contacting OU.

The Fleming and Burgess brothers from other mothers should also get a hold of him

Feedback, there seems to be quite a few players in the Central Otago area not playing National League, Holloway, Sam Jasper, Blair Scoullar & now Mr Soccer would easily make that Otago squad

Looks like you guys need some steel in your defense, maybe Flem could sign a couple more Canterbury based defenders not wanted by the Dragons.
Would make a good match of the local clash coming up on the 12th.

I've been told that Campbell Parkin was just sitting around drinking beer on a boat all weekend.

Now Malcolm, don't you think its about time you gave him a call? could shore up that leaky defence? Tim Horner and Campbell Parkin centreback pairing = Good

Also good to see you've retracted your resignation, i can't believe we almost lost the Messiah

Fleming said, We have a few Christchurch based players and it was not the best for them to feel aggrieved just before a game when they opened their envelopes, and personally I was embarrassed and angry that the situation occurred.

Well maybe give them the envelopes after the game?

He's played most if not every game. As for from, he hasn't stood out, hes made some nice touches but nothing game changing. Hasn't played badly though and hasn't looked out place for most of the time. On a par with the form of the pom Phil Ruggles.
