Vila will be more than happy if they remain where they are by the end of the season, for me they are not the concern. City, as always, only need a slight form change and they are a threat. United and Chelsea aren't even threatening right now.

The women team is crushinh it in the Champions Cup (which I am not sure what it is)this morning. Hope the Mens can continue that theme shortly in the CL.

finishes 3-2, that will do the job, good hit out for players not used in EPL to stretch their legs and injury returnees to get form,.

Huge result today, you could the pressure valve open and let off a tonne of steam! Great to see Jesus and Gyokeres score from open play, and Madueke and Martinelli setting up goals with their crossing. Chelsea currently losing at home with a mildly rotated side ahead of Tuesday night. Need to score and get into the final for sure!

We needed that. Not many teams go to Elland Road and do that either. Massive.

Spurs going to roll over again tomorrow?

Three for me, and two for them.

31 Jan 19:33
They've been a bit of a bogey team for city down the years, so I wouldn't rule out them doing something crazy for them - like winning a football game.
31 Jan 21:45
4-0 showed a bit of spark that seemed to have been lacking recently.
Early on I thought Leeds were gonna make this difficult but after the first goal their heads dropped and then the error that lead to the second it was game over form there - ard to believe that OG are our shared leading contributer at thjis stage of the league. 5 a piece with Gyokeres and Trossard.
Back to a 7 point lead, can Spurs do us a favour and nick a win against CIty?

Love seeing Gyokeres slowly add to his tally. It took Havertz ages but he’s now a key part of the squad. No reason the Swede can’t be the same. I’m finding the celebration pretty cringe but if he keeps scoring then who cares.
You cant just pick and choose which laws to follow. Sure Id like to tape a baseball game without the express written consent of major league baseball, but thats just not the way it works.-Hank Hill

I love the "mask" celebration, especially his reason for doing it, something around "noone paid me any attentionuntil I hid my face".
It's different and not too OTT like some of the Haarland celebrtations

Spurs giving us a hand then, gotta love it
As many predicted, Villa are good but dont have quite enough to be a serious contender.
League cup 2nd leg next, then we've got Sunderland at home, while City travel to Anfield. Liverpool starting to get a little something going now, good chance we can stretch the lead.
01 Feb 19:00
See we've sold Zinchenko to Ajax. Wish him all the best. Was absolutely class when he came in but was able to keep improving his levels. I hope he can help sort out the troubles at Ajax.

Can’t believe they turned that around haha. Fair play.

So a 6 point lead now. We host Sunderland before City go to Liverpool next weekend so a chance to extend that lead. Villa host Bournemouth.

Need to focus on getting through to the League Cup final first though.

Three for me, and two for them.

some safety restored after this morning results, 6 points ahead of City, 7 ahead of Villa and 10+ over United. Still a long way to go, but we are still well alive in all four comps!

I was stoked when Zinchenko came in, he filled a gap we had, but unfortunately he was surpassed when Calafiore arrived and Lewis-Skelly did what he does.

Zinchenko was important in our growth, wish him all the best. His attitude and mentality was really important for us when him and Jesus arrived.
Were in such a good spot with the squad now tho, sadly above his level in that role.
Calafiori is a beast, I really like him, he does it all. Even then Hincapie is looking really fantastic in that role, and Lewis-Skelly has a big ceiling and should get better.

Gah, Merino has broken his foot and will be out for a while. I wonder if we will make a last minute dip into the transfer market.

Last minute dip into the market for Tonali? Would love to see it!

I just saw the Tonali link. I'd love it. He is such a talented player and would absolutely fit our style and systems. But apparently the rumour was started by his agent, which I think is a very silly move as it puts Tonalis relationship with Newcastle on the line.
I also see that the Ox is training with us atm. He's a free agent so we wouldn't need to rush but maybe an emergency option for another body.

If the hospitality packages are out of budget then I would think your best chance would be via the NZ supporters club. Sign up if you're not already a member.

Official supporters clubs get an allocation for each game so you'll need to apply that way.

Thanks mate. Not keen on the hospitality packages more out of experience than anything, I'll try the supporters club. Up the Arsenal

Did you have any luck?

Off to Wembley then
03 Feb 22:02
that'll do, nice to see Havertz back on the score board!

Get in!

Looking forward to the final now. Most likely against City who are definitely there for the taking.

Plus our Wembley record is insane.

Time to start acting like a big club again and adding to that honours list.

COYG!

Three for me, and two for them.

Apart from our Wembley record in the League Cup :(
Great to be in the final though

I kinda liked that Kai did a small celebration of pointing to the cannon!

Jsut caught the highlights during lunch.
Chelsea's approach to our corners was interesting. First I've seen with teams trying something different, and it did throw us a little initially. Having said that, when the ball came in, they looked very sparse in defence, we really should have scored one or two.
Thought we might've had a couple of penalties on another day. Martinelli's one, yes they got the ball first, but the trailing leg then prevented Martinelli from taking possession and having a very big chance.
The one in the first half, how can that be a natural arm position, putting your hand over Hincapie's shoulder when Hincapie is clearly best positioned to win the ball. Martinelli's I can understand a bit as they ruled the defender's trailing leg was essentially a natural motion, but the Hincapie one to me was a bit off. Can't see how the defender can hit the ball with a hand from that position behind him, and it be deemed natural.
In any case, a good win. Chelsea had a pretty good game plan to keep it tight and then bring on Palmer and Estevao to have a crack, and they executed pretty well, just couldn't grab the goals when their plan needed them to.

Lovely moment with the winning goal. I hope those who didn't want to be in this at least allowed themselves to enjoy that moment and will let themselves enjoy the occasion of a Wembley Cup final. Said it before the first leg, but I do think this group going to Wembley and lifting a cup together could do wonders and kickstart winning the bigger things. The other big clubs have all used this to start their runs of winning trophies. It also gets rid of the pressure the "no trophies" narrative comes with. Appreciate it's not the CL but I don't see why winning it would be anything other than a good thing. It didn't look like it was meaningless to the players at least.

Weird how the commentators kept going on about how Chelsea's formation and tactic was some sort of master plan. Turns out playing for a 0-0 draw when you're a goal down isn't some sort of genius move after all.

Pro tip - if you want to grab Bein Sports just for the final, sign up to a free 7 day trial of Amazon Prime Video (or login to your existing account) and you can get a free 7 day trial for Bein through that rather than pay for a whole month for one game.

Chelsea have done well against us to be fair.  Beat us 1-1 at home, outplayed us 2-3 at home and held us to 0-1 away. Think that's 10 games without a loss to them now.

I am mildly concerned about Merino's injury. Not really for quality on the pitch - with Gyokeres looking slightly better and the pressure coming off him a little, and Jesus and Havertz back and looking hungry, we don't need to rely on Merino in that role. And with Norgaard being decent when needed, we are ok with back-up to Rice/Zubimendi I reckon. What I worry about is that Merino seems like a calming presence across the squad, he looks like a natural leader that the others look up to, and gives a real sense of safety when he is called on late in games. The kind of stuff you can't really replace with stop-gap loans/signings etc. I hope he returns for Apr/May when things will get really intense, but haven't seen the latest on his injury status.

Business-like performance, more of those please. Super shot from Zubimendi.
Loving Havertz in the team. Doesn't matter where we put him, he does good work everywhere, in all facets of the game. One of those guys that you try to find a spot for as he just makes the team better.
Nice to see Trossard going the 90, he's so tireless and hardly ever gives it away. He often picks the perfect moments to exploit the smallest lapse of defensive concentration.
Gyokeres quietly starting to feel like he really adds something. His celebration is pretty cringey but I thought it was kinda cool when he did it on the ground.
