See Scolari admit that the players got it wrong in the second half by playing long balls and crosses into the penalty area which just played to our strengths.

Now just let me go and find that thread on the best defence in the EPL.

If only I could find those 3 brats outside the Thistle last night that were laughing at me saying that Chelsea would win (I had my lucky 'Pool scarf on with my fever gear).

Lol that was my thread we still have the best record, only 4 goals.

Still number 1? After 20 years!!! OK you guys must be congratulated on an outstanding start to the campaign. It's going to make this a very interesting season. But I'm still picking that there will be a time when the pressure is on, and Liverpool might struggle then. I hope.

Haven't read much, had a meeting in the morning so missed any text update. But 3 points, which matters most.

Watched the game last night and there was only one team in it. The problem was Pompey clearly came with the aim of getting a draw. That was evident when they left Defoe on the bench and played Crouch up front by himself.

The good thing was that despite the packed defence we still managed a deccent number of chances and could easily have scored before the penalty. On the penalty, I have no idea what Bouba Diop was thinking. He went up like a volley ball block with both arms.

Impressed with the way Lucas played. Quite similar to Mascherano in that he chases everything and shuts down the MF. Made some quality passes too.

Apparently Liverpool are the front runners to sign "the new Romario" in the January transfer window.

We've been given first option on Keirrison, a 19 yo striker for Coritiba. 54 goals in 100 games isn't a bad strike rate either.

Game should've been put away but wasn't, Tottenham rid there luck and got really lucky. They played like crap, yet get 3 points. Gerrard hit the post after a hand ball from King, then saved on to the post by Gomes. Next play he chipped it onto the bar. Had lots of good chances to go two up.

Quite similar to Atletico game, except we lost, to a poor side.  Dissapointing, but need to take it on the chin and move on.

How ungreatful are the Spurs fans? Booing Keane with every touch he had...

It's been coming though Linds.  The Pool have ridden their luck a bit recently and these are the games you NEED to win to finish top.

As for Keane, some players command love and respect because of how they conduct themselves and what they give on the pitch.  Unfortunately, he's not that sort of player and if I was a Spurs fan I would be booing him too.

Can't believe we lost that.  As you say Linds, should have been put away before they equalised.  Could have been 3-0.  Even after Kuyt's goal there was a period of sustained pressure without a goal.

Full credit to Spurs - 1-0 down after 3 minutes, bottom of the league, under the kosh and they come back to win.  The players obviously want to play for Harry.  Well done to them.

About time your luck ran out.

To be fair Liverpool have scored a fair few late winners this season so this was just karma.
Liverpool did dominate but the first goal was a bit jammy, I mean to score from that angle requires a powerful "hit and hope" type shot (Van Persie has scored a few of these type of goals), then an own goal which you can't really do anything about. That's what really cost you the game along with your team's poor shooting display. How many shots ended up in the stands today? Spurs shots (although few and far between) generally made the keeper work.

Fcuk!

What a weekend, the two sides I support lose to bottom placed teams....the Pool and the Nix

That penalty decision was disgraceful but in the context of the game, you guys deserved the draw. Very jammy.

What a suprise a Gerrard dive earns Liverpool an Anfield penalty. Yet another lucky escape this season.

Three for me, and two for them.

Permalink Permalink
over 17 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History
Hardly a dive, just two players going for the ball but having said that it was probably the softest penalty I've ever seen. What's wrong with the game when a defender can't challenge for the ball in his own penalty area?

Missed game was at printers, just checked the score. Lucky escape. Hopefully the last two games are just a blip and we get back to form.

Still not convinced BuffonII. Two players challenge for the ball in the air, two bodies collide, Gerrard falls (as does Pernia) and the ref gives a penalty. Blame incompetent refereeing, not Gerrard.

How does he behave afterwards.  Is he looking at the ref or anything ?

The question is how many players do not look for a dive these days in the EPL and other euro leagues. He looked over but did not make a big deal of it.

soft penos go all the time. It was soft and I was cheering pool.

The biggest question for me was how come Maniche who lives in Spain can possibly look so pale? What do they only let him out of the cellar on matchdays?

i think the headline on goal.com tells the story:

Gerrard Dives To Liverpool's Rescue

he might not have been looking for a penalty but he does tend to dive quite alot , clearly not a foul.

Blatant dive. From one of England's finest, so he tends to get away with it.

Opening day of the 06/07 season at Sheffield United, Gerrard dove to get a penalty and a late point for 'Pool. That's when i lost respect for him.

All English players get away with it, cause English players don't dive

Not convinced either way, but the defender does come in backwards and isn't looking for the ball.
