Good news again!!! One thing I do wonder about Rafa though is his choice of players. I know some of those players he bought as lads to blood them but by my reckoning maybe 8 of the 21 have been good purchases? But the other clubs don't really have massive arguments between coach and owner, that can't be good for morale

"The debt has to be at a manageable level before Prince Faisal would invest and the current level is high," he said.
"He cannot be looked to as someone who is going to clean up the balance sheet - Gillett has to deal with this."

Come on Prince! Just throw your money around. Get that old yankee git outta there! In fact, buy both of them out...

See Pacheco's goal for the ressies? Injury time winner against Burnley (with a certain Mr Coyle up front for them!) with an absolute peach of a free kick! Never mind all this off-field bollocks, and the poor form of the first team- the reserves are where its at!

Unfortunately it takes more than being a Legend Player to be a Legend Manager... I would have like to see it work for him.

Tranmere finally sack Barnes after horrific run

Tranmere have sacked manager John Barnes and his assistant Jason McAteer.

The duo took charge at Prenton Park in June, but a run of just two league wins from 11 matches has left Rovers languishing 22nd in League One.

Physio Les Parry has been placed in temporary charge and he will be assisted by reserve-team boss Shaun Garnett, with Tranmere not playing until Monday night against Stockport.

Chairman Peter Johnson said: "Unfortunately results have not gone our way this season and we are at the wrong end of the table.

"We must now focus on finding the best possible candidate to help us climb the division.

"I urge all supporters to get behind Les, Shaun and the team on Monday night when we play at home to Stockport County.''

Anybody see Nemeth this morning? Two goals in extra time for Hungary to see off (8 man) Italy. Good goals too. Played well without getting much support. El-Kun2009-10-10 10:43:20

Gerrard will be out for a week it seems, Torres is carrying a knock and Kyrgiakos out for 4 months. Also Saudi Prince deal seems to be just affiliating LFC with some academies there, rather than buying Gillet out.

So good news all round

Gah. Sunderland is going to be a tough game. Cana and Cattermole in midfield, against whoever we can field (with Masch and Lucas facing long trips back), and Jones and Bent will fancy themselves against our defence! *sigh*

Who knows? I've almost given up on trying to follow the shambles that is our owners situation.

In other news, Gerrard and Torres are both out for our Sunderland game... Oh, joy.

Should the ref have allowed the goal? And was it a Liverpool or a Sunderland fan who threw the ball on the pitch? In normal circumstances I would have felt sorry for the team who conceded but being a United supporter I couldn't be much happier! Good on ya Sunderland!

of course the ref had to allow it - i doubt he would've even realised what had happened without the replay.

my question is, how long was it there? it was stationary so mustn't have just rolled there - and it was only on the 6 yard line. Why hadn't reina gone and kicked it away or something?

So unlucky, but so funny.

and despite this, liverpool still had 86 minutes to find an equaliser and winner...

It looks like Liverpool's season has been deflated by a well inflated summer holiday accessory found on the beaches of Spain and a beach ball.

Three for me, and two for them.

Two man team.

*sigh*. So stupid that it was allowed to stand. But, there we go. As you say, we had more than enough to time to find an equaliser. So depressing! Everything is going against us. How unlucky can you get?! Never mind. When we win against United we're only four points behind. And wait til we get Aquilani fit. Siempre es posible!

If the ref had stopped the game, it would've sent the message, "throw your Beach ball and stop the other team's goal"

Wasn't it in an offside position? Maybe not when the ball was played.

Well played B Ball, your great uncle Alan will be very proud of you!

I know, I know, its serious!

From the funny but true files:
For some reason espn livescoring initially credited the goal to andy reid! LOL talk about taking the piss

andy reid has dropped a heap of weight and has been quality so far this season.

That kid's going to get the hell bashing when he turns up to Huyton Intermediate on Monday morning. Given the Internet coverage he's getting right now he's prolly in the Merseyside witness program - hiding out in Manchester where he's safe...

Shaggers lads, your luck couldn't be any worse!

Do you guys get Steve G and Torres back for either of those?

Well i dont think the result is unfair. regardless of the beach ball this result is indicative of some of Benitez's recent decisions. not replacing Alonso or Keane with players of similar abilities has led to and will continue lead to results like this all season. You are in a position where we (Gooners) were a few years back when we only had 1 way of playing. give the ball to Thierry Henry. we were pretty inexperienced without him. but we have rebuilt from that and now have world class quality in depth. you guys just don't seem to have a plan "b" without Torres or Gerrard. Why was Mascha on the bench?!!  We had no-one taking charge...bad call Rafa

Because he'd just come back from the other side of the world, played in an intense and must-win game, and was probably not up to it.

Exactly! I mean, we couldn't argue about the result, because we were sh*te,  but the manner of the goal was...well, crazy! Somebody brought a beach ball to throw at me at school too...

I think they should be back. It'll be close, but I think so. I f**king hope so!

And Bruce is a t**ser. Saying anybody who knew that rule was a "saddo".

Liverpool beach balls have sold out on the club's official website after rivals fans flocked to snap up copies of the now infamous red ball.
