Taken from the Guardian..........

The similarities between Rodgers' transformation and Bill Shankly's first title-winning campaign of 1963-64 are uncanny. In Suarez and Sturridge, Liverpool have two players to score 20 league goals or more in a season for the first time since Ian St John and Roger Hunt 50 years ago. Shankly's championship breakthrough also featured 1-0 and 3-0 wins over Manchester United and, on this day half a century ago, Liverpool beat Tottenham at Anfield to go top of the table. First place was not relinquished and Liverpool claimed their first title in 17 years.

Which other top 4 team starts the game with 6 Englishman on the park?

I doubt that they have 6 between them.

Hey all, good to have a few along to the game on Monday. Even better to give Spurs a hiding!

We're not meeting for the WHU game in Monday coming, but here's some info for what's happening over the next week or so:

Come and join us for a drink at The Pub, 101 The Terrace, 6pm Wed 9th April.
FYI: We are NOT meeting for the West Ham game this coming Monday. We will screen the match at this catch up.

Our next game catch up will be for the Man City game, on Monday the 14th April. We will confirm match info early next week but early indications are we will screen this both LIVE (12:37am) and DELAYED (6:15am).

Cheers

Interesting point.

Prompted a little analysis...
Of the other current top 4 these are the english players in their squads that could feasibly start;

Man City: 6 (Hart, Richards, Lescott, Milner, Rodwell, Wright)
Arsenal: 5 (Chamberlain, Walcott, Wilshere, Gibbs, Jenkinson)
Chelsea: 4 (Cole, Lampard, Cahill, Terry)

Away vs West Ham this weekend. Potential slip up. I don't want to jinx our team but we are far more lethal this year. Sturridge has scored 30 goals this season. Amazing stuff.

Great result. I'll admit to being a bit concerned about this one before hand. We've had a bit of history of managing to fudge games like this up. And who the hell decided that Carroll didn't foul Mignolet ??Still , another 3 points. Jose can wank on all he wants- but look at the table ,son.

Massive massive game against City. We win that then dare to dream??

Oh , ARsenal have become this years Paris Hilton. Everyone can hop on and give then a damn good fudgeing!!

That was ugly. Appalling referee decision to over ride the guy with the best view but whatever. West ham and their percentage football can sod off. Skertl was really good at the back (mostly anyway).

Everton did alright too...

Carroll was bullying Mignolet.

Looks like he was trying to do a volley ball spike.

Got the three points which is the main thing. 5 cup finals left!! Massive game vs Man City this weekend. Might have to head to the pub with Kopgoff. Anyone else going?

Great result this morning. Was very nervy, but like you Jazzman I kind of expected that. We've quite often blown away the top teams this year but had to grind out a one goal victory against the mid-table teams. Never mind though, a win's a win as they say.

The best news apart from the actual result was that Gerrard didn't pick up a card. Am I right that had he done so he would have missed the City game? He's been immense lately and it goes without saying that the City game would have been even more difficult without him, so great that he'll be there.

Onwards and upwards! Still bloody nervous, but starting to believe...

Fair call Tyler.
I guess we have already made a commitment to LFC at some stage of our lives. LFC is the tie that binds us. Anfield the revered place.
We may have nothing else in common but, in my mind
we are all LFC
 and
 that is everything.

Hey guys, been seeing that there's a bit of chat on other forums regarding concern about The Pub opening for live games. Feel free to get in touch with me via LFCWellington on Facebook or @lfcwellington on twitter (or via here of course)  if you've any queries. They have told us they will def open for City and Chelsea live (and delayed) and are working on getting a special license for Newcastle last game of the season. We're only releasing game info the week in advance so as not to bombard you guys with too much info. There's nothing in this for me personally other than being able to watch my Reds with a bunch of like-minded fans. I also feel it is better to be all in once place together rather than scattered around the city.

Here's the City info, the Chelsea game will be advertised a week out from game:
GAME ANNOUNCEMENT

LFC v Man City

We will have 2 options for this game on Monday 14th April:
LIVE - Kick Off 12:37am
DELAYED - Kick Off 6:15am

The Pub, 101 The Terrace

We already have a good number of fans confirm they'll be there for the LIVE viewing. If you prefer the DELAYED option please let me know so The Pub can have a rough idea of numbers.

Cheers, Andrew

Hey mate, if everyone who says they're coming makes it then we'll have in excess of 50 I'd say. Just need the lads to do the business to make it all worthwhile!

Wow.

Putting aside these intense feelings of jealousy for a moment, well done boys. Your team keeps proving me wrong every single week.

For the first time this season I feel like you guys can actually do this. When we beat you guys 2-0 earlier in the season I thought we'd burst your bubble and that was all you had, but those lads went to another level and have maintained it.

Have to salute Rodgers, what a piece of management to have done what he has done.

Chelsea is going to be massive, and probably tougher than this game, but I'll be cheering for you lads.

I haven't checked google or anything but if you guys win the title, will Kolo Toure be the only player to win it with three different clubs? Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool. Like I said, I haven't checked to see if he played enough games with City.

What an incredible match this morning. Haven't been buzzing like that since watching the All Whites in 2010.

HUGE hats off to kopgoff for this morning's turnout. There were over 100 of us for sure, made for an incredible atmosphere!

As for the actual game, I thought that for the first thirty minutes we looked like a team that could win the title with ease, then for the next 40 we looked like a team who had just realised that fact. It was so tense there in the middle! Then what a cracking shot from Coutinho to seal it. Incredible!

Hendo out for three weeks will be a loss, but at least that's an area where we have a decent replacement. How on earth I'm going to handle the tension of the next four games I have no idea.

Oh and who else nearly had a heart attack when Moses came on. Thought Rodgers was actually trying to kill me. Are you taking the f*cking piss Brendan?!

But alas, in Brendan we trust.

Well done boys! Struggling through work today but well worth it. Thought we were going to go down ha;lf way through second half. Silva should have scored their third. But there is something different about this team huh?

Hopefully Sturridge isn't injured too badly....
