Haha I was thinking about your battle over Markovic this morning. Didn't realise he is only 20, could still turn out to be OK. He did run down a few blind alleys and lose the ball though.

Suarez was poor his first season with us.

He's more than the next Saurez though. I see him as a Suarez/Henry/Modric/Cantona hybrid.

If nothing else, you are very loyal Leighbo!

This is the attitude we need to see! If the trolls pop back in to this thread maybe stop engaging them and just insist that all of our players are magical unicorns. There's really no arguing against that.

Not for a second, I've always thought they're magical unicorns.

Ugly win today! Read a few more whispers about Rodgers being on his last legs....even though our results have turned a bit

What a crazy game. Just watched 55 minutes and it doesn't seem like a 4-1 thrashing at all...lots of chances, lots of mistakes on both sides, but Swansea has been on top at the end of the half and at the start of this one.

hah...and that is a quality quality goal. If Lalana can refind his form you'd begin to be very happy as a Liverpool fan!

In saying that I am pretty sure Gerrard will get much more of a farewell than Lampard ever did.

I think Gerrard leaving is hard (but good timing) for him, right for the club and heartbreaking for the fans.

I'd hate to see his star fade at Liverpool, rather I'd like to see him rejuvenated as an LFC icon and then bring something back to the club in a coaching or management role.

He needs a break from LFC and we need to learn to live without him and stop relying on him to get us out of the poop.

Edit: Just saw this on Macca rumours from Macca:

04 Jan 2015 12:17:38

Let me just clarify the Gerrard situation..

What we have to remember is the premier league is one of the quickest leagues in the world..

You now have a player who's body can't perform at his very high standards he sets himself..

He wants to go out at the top, he was always going to leave us at the end of this season and hang up his boots .

Clearly he has decided to give La Galaxy a go where he will be by far the best player in the MLS, the pace of the game will suit him..

The last game of the season will be a sad one for us reds and most football fans..

He is for me the greatest player to have played for us and has given us all some unbelievable memories ..

But i can guarantee he will return is some capacity at the end of his stint in the states..

Lets enjoy the legend till the end of the season and see if he can lift one or more cups for us at the end of it...

Cheers

Macca

Happy new year boys!!

Actually quite hopeful over the Gerrard situation. Whilst he is a legend it is time for the others to stand up. Wonder if Emre Can will jump in the midfield although he is doing pretty well at the back huh? We seem to play pretty well when he is not there anyway.

Sounds like Lucas is looking for an exit which i'm a bit bummed about

You've never heard of Akinfenwa?

Three for me, and two for them.

Yup, I think he was in the Green Mile with Tom Hanks.

They call him the beast, arms like tree trunks and pretty nimble too - Lucas will be relieved the Beast hurdled him after shouldering him to the ground. Highest strength rating on FIFA 15 too...hahaha!

Solid rumour from liverpool rumours site......Rodgers to be gone at the end of the season. Thoughts?

Surely it's a IF "xyz" then "abc" situation...

  • If they make CL, he'll stay
  • If they win a trophy, but no CL, it could go either way
  • If they win nothing, see you later BR

The fat waiter is top of the list to replace him along with Klopp and De Boer

The problem is that the current set-up doesn't work.

  • Transfer committee doesn't work as someone always ends up compromising.
  • Buying youth for re-sale value later on works if you get it right (which they seldom have) and even when it does work, you then have heaps of cash and youth players again as the names you have developed move on.

The chicken needs to come before the egg for Liverpool. Invest in tried and true top level performers, get a deep CL run & regular qualification, Premiership win and silverware back in the cupboard and then it becomes easier to attract top talent and retain the good youth players...but despite moaning about money bags Chelski and Citeh, we really need to BUY at least CL qualification if not the title and then go from there.

No way would I have Benitez back.....De Boer or Klopp yes please

Hmmm not sure what to make of the rumours. Sounds more like obvious speculation rather than something official, ie. he can't stay after blowing that much money with these performances but if he gets it together, then he proves his worth and can't be let go.

A problem is that in some cases we did spend some proper cash recently on players who have shown a bit of promise at best.

Lallana, Sakho, Lovren, Markovic and Balotelli all fall into that category.

£35m for two CBs who aren't always starting. It hurts!

There have been quite a few injuries this season so far:

  • Studge
  • Jones
  • Lallana
  • Allen
  • Johnson
  • Flanagan

Maybe they decided he wasn't up to it anymore?

Yeah poor Flano, too young for injuries so serious. It seems Lallana is made of glass, quite worryingly so. Reserve keeper getting injured after finally getting picked....... well that's just lame!
