Glad we got that one out of the way. Some weeks ago I predicted that this was one that we would lose. A draw in the end was probably about right. For the first 30 mins we were outplayed and with no disrespect to Arsenal it looked like we has been on the piss all week. Had it not been 1-1 at half-time then I doubt we would have got any points at all.There are a few that seem to think the 1st goal was not offside, but it was.  Heaven forbid had Utd scored an offside today. Arsenal looked sharp and will be disappointed that they did not get all 3 points.

It is going to be interesting to see which teams end up in the CL positions. I doubt Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs supporters would put their house on it.

Also, do you really think that Van Persie gives a flying fuck in the eye about a number of people who he has never met, and is never likely to meet, making any kind of gesture (be it booing or turning their backs) to him?

and you are entitled to your opinion - I just found it odd that you thought that anyone who did not was not a real supporter.

The minute I saw the line up I knew there was no way Utd would win this one. Midfield- Anderson , Cleverly, Jones.

Cleverly has not played for about 4 weeks, Anderson has hardly played and Jones is not a proven midfield player. Combine that with Giggs who was awful and RVP playing the lone ranger, it was obvious that we were not going to get any points from this game.

The game itself was very average, lots of mistakes. The league won and Utd playing poorly I won't be getting up in the early hours of the morning as I have for all their games this season.

 Manchester United may still be celebrating their dominant title win but the club's mammoth €237.5 million wage bill has revealed the true, astronomical cost of regaining the Premier League - and seen them leapfrog neighbours Manchester City as the country’s biggest salary spenders.

The Old Trafford outfit have announced a huge 25 per cent leap in wage payments - totalling €53.3m in the third quarter before tax - largely thanks to new signings Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa, renegotiated contracts for other squad players and new positions within the club's commercial operation.

United's relative third-quarter wage costs totalled just below €40.4m before tax in last year's equivalent results, with the club’s annual bill coming to €190m.

The announcement came as the club recorded three-month turnover of €108.9m on the New York stock exchange earlier this week, as well as a 52.2% increase in sponsorship revenue following a number of high-profile commercial deals in the Far East.

The vast salaries at the club are best typified by the €296k-a-week deals currently paid to Van Persie and Wayne Rooney, making the forward pair Britain's top-earning footballers, with their deals alone costing United €28.5m per year.

The Premier League champions are wary of controlling their growing wage costs and are set to reduce their top-line spending by offering Wayne Rooney a reduced deal this summer.

City's last annual financial results, released in January, showed that the Etihad Stadium outfit had paid €206.5m in the previous year, totalling €238.6m after tax. However, The Sweeper understands that the second-placed Premier League side have actively looking to cut their salary expenditure, with the departures of Nigel de Jong, Emmanuel Adebayor and Mario Balotelli all contributing to the club's wage restructure.

who would guys prefer: Mourinho or Moyes?

 Just on that choice - I think everyone agrees Moyes has done an excellent job at Everton with resources he's had and I'm sure he'd be a decent fit and do a grand job at United; but he hasn't had to deal with the size of egos/pay packets, whereas Mourinho has, and has the reputation to be able to attract a higher level player than Moyes.

Mourinho's signing for Chelsea though right? And Guardiola is at Bayern - those were the two that were most often rumoured in recent years. 

Whoever it is they will struggle, I feel for them. 

Only van Persie, and maybe Ferdinand or Rooney would walk into any other EPL team at the moment in my opinion, yet fergie still walks the league with them - without him there could be trouble....

 Any manager, of any level of experience, will have a tough time in that job and realistically I would be surprised if anyone hangs around for more than 2-3 years. SAF is likely to still have a role at the club but will be aware of the need to distance himself. Decision may be to seek someone who is a safe pair of hands type - Moyes would fit that bill. Task then may be to act as a bridge between Ferguson and the next era. A massive name (ie, non British) coach will want to re-shape things.

There's also every chance that this rumour is exactly that.

Mark Hughes to be a shock appointment as Manager, United to successfully get relegated and prove once and for all that Mark Hughes really is that bad.

Congrats to old grumpy. One might not like him from time to time but his record speaks more than enough for him. Total respect for what he has achieved and brilliant at taking a half decent squad and making them even better during his restructuring of squads over the years.

Shame he doesn't come to the Nix. Rather him than Steve "bottler" Coppell any day. Anyway, Happy retirement SAF although i am sure the United Board will find a spot for you. You just cant throw away genius that easily.

Of course, half the people on this forum think he was actually sacked.
