What Moyes actually said about Rooney:

"I think he's got a major role to play because we need to try and get as many goals as we possible can. I think Wayne can play up top. He can play dropped in [behind the center forward]. Overall my thought on Wayne is he'll be key. If, for any reason, we had an injury to Robin, we are going to need him. I want to be able to play the two of them. I want to be able to use Danny Welbeck, Chicharito as well."

With all the bullshit coming out of the UK I hope they sell him. Has been a great player for the club and I wish him well but he thinks he is bigger that the club. If he want to go, then let him.
When he has finished playing and perhaps forgotten, Utd. will still be there.

Sommet Sports Freeview HD (UHF only): Saturday at 9.30pm live from Sydney.
Latest news: Van Persie, Giggs, Carrick, Evra, Ferdinand, Zaha, Evans, Jones, Raphael, de Gea all available to play !!!

I'm really looking forwards to this one now, esp to see how Ifill and McGlinchey go.

Sommet don't have their internet streaming set up yet, so not from them. but bound to be one on a one of the dodgy sites.

What are the odds?

Rooney to Chelsea

Torres to Liverpool

Suarez to Real Madrid

Higuain to Man Utd

We really need a playmaking midfielder but Fabregas will surely be kept by any new Barca manager.

Who is our next CM target?

There was a problem with the international feed coming out of the stadium. On tonight's game the feed came on for a minute but then cut to ads and then came back on when the teams came out.

With Martino now managing Barca, I can't see any point in pursuing Cesc - he won't be leaving. Gary Neville is arguing that we have a good contingent of CMs and that there is no point spending big money if they're not going to be better than current lot. Problem is only one, Carrick, is a true defensive, playmaking box to box CM. There is little back up. This issue has been around for a few seasons and we have still not addressed it. Moyes has seen it as a key issue. Is Fellaini really the answer. I don't think so. Rooney anyone? ha ha

I said a year or so ago on here that I thought Rooney would make a great mid field player.

Yeah I remember Leggy, and it's possible he could adapt his game (though I have reservations about him being able to  play deep enough to pick up the ball from the back line AND his technical defensive ability - tracking back, body shape, staying on his feet. The biggest issue though is his headspace. In his head he is a striker - always has been, and England's striker at that - with a World Cup on the horizon; and playing defensive CM (for that is what we need) is just not where his headspace will be. If Moyes can make that happen, he's a miracle-worker. It won't happen.

Community Shield: Man Utd v Wigan  -  Sommet Sport, Freeview ch. 14  -   Monday 1am

Hard to pick this one .... (only joking) .... lightning surely can't strike twice for wee Wigan and should be a training run for the Red Devils.

Have Wigan retained any decent players post-relegation? Who the hell is their manager now anyway?

Latest Man Utd transfer rumours :  http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/manchester-united-latest-transfer-rumours-and-completed-deals-8648127.html

bidding for Fellaini apparently, Fabregas looks unlikely, Chelsea tabled a bid for Rooney last week but rejected....

One injury/rotation to RVP and we're looking a bit light up front. I'd keep WR at this stage.

He is a typical scouse that thinks he is better than the club or game. I believe that he is one of the great players in the EPL but he has made a rod for himself and quite frankly I hope he leaves.

Considering we started with probably one of the weakest midfields in the EPL, the three points was welcome. Utd 2-0 up after 30mins but did not deserve it. Swansea played some great football but was undone by some RVP magic. How Cleverly and Giggs can start ahead of Rooney defies belief. When he did come on after 60mins he showed that he is a class above most of the other players.

Yeah with you on that Leggy. VERY happy to get 3 points at Swansea. That will be hard for a lot of teams this year I reckon. Love the way Laudrup has the Swans playing. And really 4-1 flattered.

Cannot really believe Giggs starting. Hoping travelling fans' positive reception of Rooney is replicated at OT next week. Quite simple, we need him playing. And still the search for a playmaking CM goes on. Chelsea will expose and magnify this need next weekend.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

A pretty flat game. Chelsea hardly got a kick of the ball in the first half. The team they picked and the way they played looked like they came for a point. Utd played as well as any game last season. Rooney was the best player on the park. Don't think they should sell him on that performance. A point against Chelsea is fine although at home you expect to win.

For a side that dominated possession 57% to 43 % is was a disappointing result. On saying that, when you have a midfield of Giggs, Young and Cleverley you would struggle to win the A league with them never mind the EPL. Team played pretty well and played better than a lot of games that they won last season. Funny to read comments from other supporters, especially when their teams will more than likely fail again. You can't expect us to win every game and the league year after year.
