That said it may force Wenger's hand in the transfer market, possibly even re-calling Jenkinson could be an option.

Can we get Jenks back from his loan now?  Wasn't that the deal on the full season loan?  It Debuchy is out and Jenks is consistently getting great reviews at the back for the Spammers then surely this is the time for him to show if he can step up for the 4th Position Trophy holders?  If you were in Jenks' shoes would you not want to angle for this move back?

I've been mightly impressed by the Coq performances.  Even had a fair go at throwing his weight around against the Orcs on Sunday.  He appears somewhat quicker than Flamini and Arteta too.

As for Shawc**t - what an average player he is.  If shirt tugging/grappling is ever looked at serious by FIFA/Wafer then he can fek off to Sunday League footie/Rugby Union.

Yup, because it's a full season loan we can only re-call him during the transfer windows.

Coquellin should be getting his contracted extended for me. Given his recent performances he looks ready to overtake Flamini based on pace & ability to put in a solid challenge.

Yep I think consensus is Coq as back DM and either January or off season we buy the beast.

Arteta is no good for our defence

Sounds about right. Spending all our time and effort trying to sign some kid when there are glaring holes in the first team.

Benik Afobe has gone to Wolves. He's been on loan at MK Dons and scored 19 goals in 30 games including a double against Man United in the League Cup. I hope he doesn't end up being another Andy Cole.

Good piece that.

I also notice that on his twitter feed the secret footballer claims that we have agreed a deal with soton to take Schneiderlin, but not until the end of the season.

He might have inside word there. The majority seem to think the secret footballer is Kevin Davies. If that's true then he would be well connected with Soton you would think.

Also rumours that Arteta is going to be out for a while yet, apparently had a setback.

I read that it might be Dave Kitson

Yeah it's generally thought to be Dave Kitson. I thought Kevin Davies in the early days but then were a lot of stories didn't quite add up.

Permalink Permalink

Current poll on 'whoisthesecretfootballer.com' has Kitson first, Danny Murphy second and Davies third... interesting.

Personally I wonder if it's a complete load of bollocks. After reading the book I struggle to believe that not one of the other footballers in there has not told someone who's told someone etc etc etc. There's lots of crazy stories involving lots of people, how could he possibly silence all of them? You'd think something would slip out somewhere.

One thing's for sure, there's a lot of lies in his writing. If you take everything as gospel then it rules out all the main candidates.

Anywaaaaay enough about that... I went mad with this stuff a couple of years ago when I read the book!

There are obviously multiple people who contribute to the 'Secret Footballer' moniker. It's not a new idea.

With Arteta out for longer surely Wenger can't afford to not buy. A little boy waits...

Yeah there's no player who fits every story so a lot of them have to be experiences from other players, and a lot will be exaggerated or just made up . Usually an interesting read though.

Err, one centre back. And they are both quality players.

true. and United has been after Hummels for a while now apparently.

Still I like the logic. No players you're interested in the 16 clubs above them in the Bundesliga?

Happy as with getting in younger players, just as long as these aren't taking up all our resources and time / effort. There are more pressing issues (obviously).

So Jenkinson has come out saying he isn't sure he can be called back from loan - I guess Wenger would have hinted at that if he was planning it. One thing Wenger is, is loyal - and I can see him being wary of stepping on the toes of Chambers and Bellerin. Unfortunately.

I still do think we'll be doing some business before the window closes. Ideally not just before it closes though.

Sigh, so that's them two effectively out for the season putting is dire need of immediate signings for the first XI. Of course, we're messing about quibbling over some kid. Seems to be no end to our injury luck does there? That Debuchy injury was such an innocuous challenge. Any other club the guy probably gets up and has a go at the Stoke player and then gets on with it. At Arsenal he doesn't get up and he's out for the season. Any time one our players goes down these days you fear that's him out for a year.

A quite superb description of Yaya Sanogo from Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew now: "I think Sanogo offers a bit of chaos factor: you're not quite sure what he's going to do. He's got technical ability that sometimes surprises you, and I think he can score goals."

I've read a rumor that Madrid might let Varane go for $20m in january? yes/no?

He signed a 6 year contract only back in september but that could be to facilitate a huge hike in his transfer fee.

Permalink Permalink
Varane could work for me, seems about Reid quality but a bit younger. RE these youngsters it's actually been awhile since we made a couple of mid teen signings that were high profile. I personally think it's great that Wenger is actually investing in a DMF, even if he is 17.

The difference is if we got people to make a difference now the 15-16-17 year olds would be received positively.

A Bender, Gundogan, Calvalho etc would sort it now and then Bielik will be primed for 3-4 years away.

                Szy*

Bellerin Per Kosc Monreal

    Ramsey Coquellin

Sanchez Cazorla The Ox

What a result! I've got to admit when I saw Aguero back I thought it would be just our luck that he'd score a couple.

Our tactics were spot on we kept them quiet in the first half and I thought we played really well. Can't really think of anyone who had a bad game.Carzola MOTM for me he was a menace all game long. Defence and Ospina were solid.Coq played blimmin well , was really fired up and seems to get better the more he plays so hopefully he'll pen a new deal soonish. Kompany is a dirty cheating pillick and I'm surprised he didn't pick up a second yellow the spray he gave the ref.

Looking forward to wandering to the TAB to cash in my $10 bet :)
