Le Coq is the new Flamini, his tackling, passing, reading of the game, and most importantly his fire when the players in front of him are giving the ball away are what gets him there! Would I still like a Carvalho? Yes. Would I also like us to keep Le Coq? Absolutely!

Funnily enough for a game billed as Sanchez vs Aguero it turned into a battle of Silva vs Cazorla, who could unlock the gaps. We know who won that battle!

Cazorla bossed the game today!

Queenslander 3x a year.

Great result... and a great platform from which to kick on for the rest of the season. COYG!

How about the strength of our bench today? Our Chesney, Gibbs, Rosicky, Ozil, Walcott, Flamini and Chambers. That's some real depth. Will proudly be wearing my away shirt today with S.Cazorla 19 on the back. What a way to celebrate Wellington Anniversary Day.

How do you say in a non-gay way, that I love the Coq, the Coq is strong and I cant get enough of the Coq.

Also I would love to see/hear Thierry Henry on MOTD Skysports (doh, no wonder I couldn't fin it) after this performance.

Turn it into a chant?

Do it Bad Company style. "I Can't get Enough of Le Coq".

What a result, it's been years since we have put in a performance like that against a top team. Hopefully it's the blueprint for things moving forward in similar games. Santi has to be one of the form players of the league at the moment as well.

A proper Arsenal performance that we have been screaming out for - clean sheet, set piece goal and players putting in for the cannon.

Do we still need a defender and DM, absolutely. The Cup, Villa and then the big one at the yids in 3 weeks time.

Le Coq, Kosc, Santi, and Wenger all going into ESPN's TOTW, well deserved I say.

I don't think I can give Santi enough praise for the match, he was unreal for a 'no 10'

I've always thought that a chihuahua could probably do a better job at DM than Flamini; Coq went far and beyond in surpassing him, though.

So this.

After a good victory it's easy to look at our squad and be very excited for the future.

All that bench depth and we've still got Wilshere, Welbeck, Arteta and Debuchy to return, as well as youngsters like Campbell and Gnabry, and the new polish lad as well.

That's because we finally approached a big game in a different manner regarding tactics and set up and came out deservedly on top. Now that Wenger has seen you can concede possession and still win matches against top teams there is more to look forward to in upcoming big matches.

Three for me, and two for them.

And the same with one bad loss valeo... 'tis the general pattern in football these days.

Also the fullbacks are worth a mention this morning, both put in excellent displays. Bellerin is coming along in leaps and bounds, his defensive nous stood out this morning. Monreal for me deserves a lot of praise. He doesn't get an easy ride from the media and us fans, but he's definitely far better than he's given credit for.

Don't think there has been too much change to general opinions by individuals (including myself) but the biggest plus was the manner in how we achieved the win. Hopefully gives us more of a chance against the other top teams because we have been well off the pace against them for a number of years.

What a result. Forgotten how it felt to beat one of the big sides. Fantastic performance and first time in a long time we've approached one of these games in that way. To be disciplined, keep it tight and attack on the counter instead of throwing everyone forward gung ho and looking completely unprepared. Credit to Wenger for changing his way this time.

Cazorla has been excellent for the last month or so, and it's no surprise now he's playing in his natural position instead of on the wing. Really liking the Coq so far. Seems to read the game well and just understand where he needs to be. Also like having some fiery who won't be afraid to shout and organise people in that position. Bellerin looks good at right back too. Really liked Rosicky when he came on too. As I said the other week, everything just gets done efficiently, quickly, and calmly when he's in midfield. Was definitely the right guy to bring on to keep things composed in there. Hope we continue with this kind of approach in the big games.

Nerve wracking start to the second half when we were committing so many forward.

An awesome defensive setup, clone that game plan for all appropriate opponents eg top 4 sides and Champions League.

Great to see the back four comfortable to welly it up field to prevent additional pressure on when City were on attack.

Switch out Campbell for Paulista?

No question we need more Defensive cover.

Sounds like a good outcome. Although given we've lost Podolski & Campbell we'd have to have faith in the Gnabry types coming through to fill that void.

He's definitely one of the best players in the league at the moment. Be interesting to see what Wenger does with Ozil, but Santi certainly can't be moved from his current position.

Everyone hear the Citeh fans chanting "Cazorla; he's just a sh1t David Silva"?

Well, they were singing it in the first 24 minutes anyway...

How old is Leggy?  Is he 12 or 72?

Where did Campbell go?

Skinny B the rumour behind signing Paulista was that Campbell had to be part of the deal. Seems a rough go for a kid with that much potential but for the greater good of the team I'd bite their hand off!

Permalink Permalink

That deal doesn't sound realistic to me. Paulista has no brazilian caps so he won't get a work visa right?

Permalink Permalink

Yeah, I'd put that one in the unlikely basket.

Don't care if Campbell goes; he's shown nothing to make me think he will kick on.

RE Paulista: He's confirmed his agent is talking to Arsenal, pretty rare for a player to come out like that.

Here's a youth player making a step up:

Was asking about the comment 'we've lost Podolski and Campbell' but yeah that is mere speculation.

As Paul said how would Paulista get a visa?

Permalink Permalink

Another point is usually when a player mentions they are being chased by us, it fizzles out pretty fast.

Makes me think on Wenger's criteria that the player keeps the deal under wraps and soon as they mention it in the media, the deal is off!
