(The not-so-temporary quite-official) Gooner Thread
The Petr Cech carry-on is definitely serious now. Going by Rosicky's comments it seems that Cech wants to come here, big time.
Apparently he's holding talks with Chelsea this week where he will attempt to persuade them to sell to us.
So if Cech comes in we sell either Ospina or Scz...
Not sure how I feel about this.

Seeing a bit of a rumble around Jackson Martinez again.

i'm all for Cech coming in, he's a great at sorting out defence and is a good leader. I'd keep scz over ospina.......

watched him play quiet a bit and he would be a very very good signing.

Would be a dream signing as I've posted previously. Was the best keeper in the league as recently as the season before last, was just unlucky Chelsea also owned the best keeper in Europe who they had to give the chance to. I'm still struggling to buy the notion that Abramovich loves him so much he'll go over Mourinho's head and let him come to us though. United could also offer him 150k a week to test his love for London. Still expect him to end up at United or overseas.
If it does happen though and we need to sell then the choice is easy for me. Ospina has come across as an absolute model professional who will be happy to do whatever the club asks of him and never let us down when he got his chance. Szczęsny mostly comes across as a muppet, prone to brain explosions and off the pitch headlines.
I would have thought City or Liverpool would be the other big teams in for him. United have De Gea & Valdes, it's a tad insane.
Regarding Martinez it seems based on selling off Podolski, Campbell, or Sanogo. As much as I'm hoping Campbell & Sanogo go on to have big careers, if that has to happen elsewhere for Martinez to come in I'm all for it.
I mean assuming De Gea is off to Real Madrid which seems likely. If he stays then they won't be in for a keeper.
I think Campbell, Poldi and Sanogo will not be in our squad next season even if we don't sign anybody. Only one of them got some bench appearances for half a season, other than that they weren't required even without new re-enforcements.
Cech wants to stay in London. If Chelsea don't let that happen, I get the feeling he'll leave the Premier League rather than go to ManU, who seem to be more heavily linked with Lloris (should De Gea leave).
GK situation - if De Gea is fed up of single handedly rescuing this ManUre side and moves to RM then what of Casillas? He'll be wanting to move somewhere? He's not the player he once was but De Gea's move could have quite the domino effect around Europe.
Surely Valdes would be looking to take the starting spot - can't see why he moved to Old Trafford in Jan unless the departure of De Gea was on the cards and he was therefore looking to grab the No. 1 shirt?
Ahhh, the summer transfer window...imagine if the internet world could channel transfer speculation/gossip/online chatting energy into providing, for example, clean water in Africa? The Sahara would be some forest!!
How old is Leggy? Is he 12 or 72?
Seems that United are quite keen on Mandzukic so will prob need to get some serious cash if they want to pursue him - hence why flicking de Gea makes sense.
Also appears that United have joined the hunt for Ibrahimovic (ha....)
Bring on the goalkeeper-go-round :)
Diaby and Ryo released.
read a couple of places we might offer him a new contract.....such a shame about his career
was expecting Ryo to come good too....oh well

Diaby and Ryo released.
Abou Diaby's greatest moment in an Arsenal shirt.

Kicking racism out of football.
Three for me, and two for them.
I dunno man... he had some other quality moments too...
I always loved this goal;

Here's a random 'top 10';
I remember a classy double he scored against fenerbahce that I loved too.
And to be fair, this was probably actually the most significant moment in his career;
Sad how his career worked out. Ridiculous tackle in the last minute of the meaningless last game of the season on the sideline almost off the pitch if I recall. Was the only thing that guy did in his career too, he ended up working in a call centre.
Casillas to the Emirates......
Do I hear the word 'butterfingers'.........?
One of the greatest keepers of all time? I'll have him thanks.
Three for me, and two for them.
Appears to be a win-win as apparently Casillas is the back-up plan if the Cech deal falls through.
4 or 5 years ago sure, but I wouldn't have the current version of Casillas over what we have. Cech on the other hand would be 2nd in the league only to Courtois (assuming De Gea is gone).
casillas??? no freaking way
too short
that's ospina's weakness too
Casillas has always been more a shot stopper. Cech is exactly what a team like us, who in fairness don't tend to get bombarded with shots on our goal most games, needs. Controls the area and commanding in the air. Think Seaman or Lehmann. Both had massive presence in goal and while both made the spectacular saves, they would often not need to because they just knew what position to be in. Have read about Seaman making sure diving was a last resort. So much more than a spectacular shot stopper. I was never in favour of signing Shay Given back when we used to be linked every summer for a few years for the same reason. Pains me to mention Almunia's name in the same paragraph as Seaman, Lehmann, Casillas and Cech, but there was never much doubting of his shot stopping ability. It was the composure, decision making and control of the area.
Cech maybe, Iker no.
Diaby , modern day tragedy. He was actually a f***ing awesome player.

Daily Mail saying we're close to a Cech deal, 11 million, and talks with Theo are positive, likely to re-sign
If Theo is going to play more striker next season then I don't think we need a new one at all, with him Giroud and Welbeck
Apparently we've been charged for breaching agent regulations over the Chambers transfer. Not much info out but seems like some third party reckons they didn't get there share or something.
Ozil got 3 assists for Germany last night, you can watch them here;

What about that last one? How did he even know that Schurrle was going to change direction and make that run? Outstanding.
Wilshere MOTM yet again for England. 2 absolute screamers too. Would love to see him shoot from that sort of range more often for Arsenal.
Apparently Wilshere has been MOTM 6 of last 7. Welbs was MOTM Jack missed out on.

Think that's 6 MOTM in the last 7 England games for Wilshere.
yup said excalty the same thing to my mate, hopefully he can stay fit for a long periods

Yup completely agreed, only reason he's still at madrid is because he's a legend there. He's been pants for a while now
