finished in the finals for 3 years running still haven't managed to clinch the title yet....this year I think!

1st year lost in the grand final. 2nd year won the grand final. 3rd year won the league lost the grand final. 4th year won both the league and grand final. Starting my 5th season now and have turned down job offers from West Ham, Chelsea and Villareal. Despite my success in the a-league i cant quite manage to conquer the Asian champions league. Quarterfinals are as far as i have gone.

What good singings have people made for the nix? I signed ex Newcastle and Wigan AM/ST Sibierski and very good box to box mid Marcelo Costa on free transfers. Also signed very good and young Australian CB McGowan on loan. Also, after a season or two are you able to sign players from other A league clubs?

Yes after the first season you may purchase players from other clubs but i have tended to stick to free transfers. My best signings have been Chris James, Brett Holman and Billy Celeski. Celeski was suprisingly outstanding for me in behind Viduka. Also got a couple of good youngsters like Nikao and Dean Bouzanis who have been good signings.  Got a couple of seasons out of experienced players like Mark Viduka, Mario Melchoit and Radek Cerny.

Seems like a coup to sign Melchiot and Cerny. I found it initially difficult to sign a good goalkeeper as I had all foreign spots taken. So I kept the faith with Paston for the first season (am halfway through now). I will try and get a good Australian keeper such as Galekovic who is out of contract at seasons end.

I only managed to get Melchiot and Cerny in my fourth season so by that stage they were about 35 years old. Hows Sibierski performing? I considered signing him in season one but did not have a foreign spot avaliable.

He can be very good at times but others games not so much. He has scored numerous screamers from long distance. I am deciding whether to extend his contract beyond the season due to several of his attributes dropping and his injury problems.

I've hit something of a stump. After 2 1/2 years of coaching NZ I've signed on with a Scottish Premier side (can't remember the name ) but as soon as I go to the pre-match advice the game crashes. This didn't happen with Dunfermline earlier in my game. I do wonder though, Bryan Little is part of my NZ squad but is also a coach with my new club, wonder if there's a bug in the game..

Little tip for you lads. When starting a new game, remember to load up all players from Reunion. They have loads of quality young players who are really cheap. Obviously if you're the Nix there are foreign player rules to work around but even then you can still nick a couple to have in your team.

A lot of kids from Reunion called Grondin? About 1/5 of the island has that name. Apparently I'm related to the whole lot.

after 5 years as manager of the nix we've finished top of the league with two weeks in the reg season to go!!! spent the last four years in the top 6 getting to two quarter finals and one final....this year we win it all...

i have the worst luck in the finals series, mind you i did just win it in 2nd season. but the first season as posted earlier nz stole my players :( then the 2nd season had a player sent off in all the finals games... i did still win tho... but most of them were soft as...

completed finals series last night, won it all awarded best manager of the year, even got into the hall of fame!......5th year into it and its still cool....lookignf roward to ACL now....I still have a number of the original squad, Durante is still club captain, sold mckain during the year for a ridiculous amount.

This patch cant come soon enough! I have this problem which has just arisen a week or so ago. Whenever I start a game it stops on the 'match loading' box and I have to press ctrl-alt-delete and wait 5 mins again for it to work again. Then when it goes to the match it is already about 30 mins through and half the pitch is black (with no grass). Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you prevent it?

Turns out there is a bug in the game. As it happens I'd saved it before finalizing the deal with Little, so this time when the mail came through to confirm or cancel, I cancelled the deal and the game no longer crashes. News, would it be too late to inform Sports Interactive before the new patch is released?

PLaying with Nots County. Onto my 6th season and just promoted to the EPL.  5 games in and i'm second. Unbeaten too.

6th season in with the nix, took them two second, got offered the job atb hull, taking it after the finals series.....

played 3 matches for the 'nix(2 wins and a loss)and the computer dies, now its got a bug on the computer(my brothers) and we have to get a computer guy to come and help us fix the computer.

I dunno how you guys get into 5th and 6th seasons, I find I get bored of the manager and have to start with a new team after 2-3 seasons. Often I also have 3 or 4 managers on the go depending on which team I feel like managing.
 
Right now, am playing with the Nix with all the updated A-League squads, Dadi missed three penaltys in one game against Perth. After winning our opening three games including a sensational 4-2 comeback against Brissy where Greenacre scored from 70 yards. I've lost and drawn the last two games. Off to Etitard for a clash with Melbourne. Durante, McKain, Ifill, Lia, Reddy and Hearfield all injured longterm bar Troy, Muscat getting back from internationals the day before the game. Gonna have to scrap this one. Throwing the kitchen sink at it with a 3-4-3 formation, Siggy, Muscat and Lochhead across the back, Caceres, Brown, Diego and Bertos in mid, and Greeny, Dadi and Costa up front. Paston in goal, bench of Reece, Ferrante, Daniel, and Marco. Hopefully we can scrap a draw !!

Agree with Simon, I can't get beyond 2 seasons without getting bored.
Started an Everton game a week ago. I am surprised that I am currently 1st in the league, 20 games played. And my only transfeer was Kalou on loan! I have scored the most goals and have the 3rd best defence. I am using 4-3-3 which is very effective provided you have the right players, eg good strikers and a very good ball winning CM like Fellaini.

If it's possible, how do you sign injury replacements in the A-League? I've been ravaged with injuries lately but it seems to automatically call up these sh*t Kiwi lads.. I can sign players on free transfers but can't register them, is there a way around this?

if you can only survive 2/3 seasons per team on FM, how can you possibly aspire to be a real football manager.

I'm doing so well in my 4th season with the Nix!

Here is my start to the season after 7 games:



The main reason is because I got Nikita Rukavytsya on a free transfer (idiots whoever didn't renew his contract).

Also got another good striker Ben Vidaic, a good 16 year old midfielder called Will Thorne who came up through the ranks and signed Tando Velaphi on a free transfer and he is now in the socceroos.

Great times ahead... Hopefully.

Just won the A-League regular season. I was the last team to play and Sydney were ahead by one point. I had a far better goal difference so just needed a draw or a win against Gold Coast away from home.

Ended up winning 3-0 with Vidaic scoring two and Durante scoring from a penalty. Vidaic ended up scoring 23 goals in the season which is a A-League record.

Play Sydney now in the away leg first.

And just won the final!!!

In front of a sold out Westpac Stadium we beat Sydney 3-2. The crazy thing was that Australia decided to have a friendly on at the same time as the final (realistic? I think not) so Velaphi, Rukavytsya, McKain and my left back were all out.

The match started crazy, Bertos scored first after 3 minutes.. then in the 4th minute Sydney scored.. Then the 8th minute Bertos scored again and then in the 24th minute Thorne (16 year old, is still on a pre-contract) scores his first ever goal for the 'Nix and his most important. Then we concede a late 85th minute goal and hold off Sydney to win the A-League.

Currently managing NZ. Didn't make the 2010 World Cup but doing very well on track for 2014. Nelsen got an 8 month injury and then retired. McGlinchey was without a club for so long he retired also. But have developed Vince Lia, Durante and Hearfield into Kiwis. Killen, Smeltz and Wood all firing and Costa is developing really well. Also got Cam Lindsay who is a quality young defender. Got the team up to 20th in the world. About to start 2013 Confed Cup.

patch doesn't allow smith to play for us. And apparently Fallon retired in 2000 from int cricket.

Have moved onto Arsenal. Just started second season with a 0-0 draw with Spurs. First season signings included Edin Dzeko who scored 31 goals in 36 PL games and 56 goals overall. Finished 6th in PL and got third in Champions League. Can't remember for FA or Carling Cup. Started second season, sold Almunia to Zaragoza for 5million, and Nacer Barazite for 4m to Werder Bremen, got a whopping 18m for Sagna to Madrid and Senderos went to Getafe for free. Brought in Joe Hart for 6m, Emmanuel Sarki and Lucas Neill on frees. Neill on a short contract cause Eboue is out for quite a while. And got Chris Wood and Marco Rojas for my youth squad as well as this super kid Mike Fullgraf from Germany.
Also sent Wilshere, Mannone, and Hoyte on loan.

You can either click 'Take Screenshot' from the FM menu or push Prt Scr on your keyboard, open MS Paint and click File->Paste.
