Awesome.

Hopefully next year he is in their top squad or a loan to a championship club. None of this Greek stuff.

Auckland will rise once more

Bazeley hinted he was going to make a big move this window

Ryan Nelsen rates Bindon very highly. Exciting future. Thank god he chose NZ

Next season maybe still too early for the EPL. Loan deal to a Championship club?

After next season, where hopefully he will be loaned to a championship club, he will then qualify as a home grown player. Squads need to contain a certain number of these (8?), so at that time it seems the ideal time to be in their top squad.

Is probably too big a jump initially to the premiership, so a season in the starting line up at one of the championship clubs who expressed interest in him would be awesome

There are a couple 18 year old cbs in Prem already. No reason he can't step up.

The style might suit him more as well, a bit more technical and not as physical.

Officially announced on a deal through to 2028! Boom :)

EDIT - I'm a bit late to the party.

Stamenic, Bindon and Wood - Next season Forest might as well rebrand to the All Whites

Heady days for NZ football

Chris "jobs for the boys" Wood.

Lets not forget Reading could yet get promoted to The Championship. That happens and maybe he just stays there on loan for another season for 25/26.

And high chance NZ's unbroken record of having a Kiwi play in the EPL each season going back to Nellie debuting 20 odd years ago, will continue.

Wood, Stamenic, Bindon, Paulsen, Gray & Dibley-Dias all on the books. Even if Ipswich are relegated, chance Marley Leuluai's Burnley are in the EPL next season.

If Forest get into Europe they might keep him for depth.

Wow, incredible move. What do you think the chances of seeing Wood, Bindon and Stamenic in the same 11?

Pretty high for next month I'd say. 😉

I think I can safely say that my second favourite EPL team, is definitely sorted for the next few years.

That's a terrific highlight reel alright.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

It's quite a clever transfer for Forest, even if Bindon or Stamenic never play for them. At worst, they'd be banking on both players making a good impression at the World Cup, and sell one/both for a handsome profit.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe
That's a terrific highlight reel alright.

It's a great little reel isn't it. Pinpoint sliding tackles, goal line clearances, clever Cruyff turns, charging runs up field, some beautiful passing, strong headers and even a bicycle kick goal.

You can see why he his getting the big wraps. Shark he maybe good enough to play EPL next season. But if not, little doubt he's gonna get to that level at some point. The proud tradition of Kiwi EPL CBs to continue.

Niche Cache.

Another link between these two clubs (Forest & Reading) is that Olympiacos signed Nelson Abbey from Reading a year ago. Sister club of Nottm Forest, current loan destination of Mr Stamenic. That was the move that pushed Bindon into Reading’s starting line-up on a permanent basis and he has been spectacular ever since. Granted, Abbey could be seen as a cautionary tale since he’s only made four appearances for Olympiacos, was loaned to Swansea City at the start of the season and only played once there, then was recently redistributed to Rio Ave in Portugal (former club of Nando Pijnaker). Even Stamenic isn’t having the impact at Olympiacos that he’d like, although he has been much more of a presence than Abbey ever was.

With this move, there are currently six New Zealanders on the books of English Premier League clubs:

Chris Wood at Nottingham Forest
Marko Stamenic at Nottingham Forest
Tyler Bindon at Nottingham Forest
Henry Gray at Ipswich Town
Matthew Dibley-Dias at Fulham
Alex Paulsen at Bournemouth

Having said that, don’t get too carried away because “on the books” doesn’t necessarily mean much beyond the accountancy department. Chris Wood is the only one of those six who has actually played an EPL game (he’s played an NZ record 251 of them, with 86 goals) and of the others only Dibley-Dias has even made a matchday squad. Gray’s been around the extended matchday stuff with Ipswich, to be fair, though not to where he was ever amongst the allotted substitutes.

The other three – Bindon, Stamenic, and Paulsen – were very loaned out again almost as soon as they signed.
It remains true that at least one New Zealander has featured in every single EPL season since 2003-04... but there hasn’t been a fresh debutant since Winston Reid more than 14 years ago (trivia: Chris Wood debuted before Reid did).

Reading (8th) host Shrewsbury Town (22nd)

Max Mata leaving on loan to Auckland, hasn't lead to any real improvement in Shrewsbury's goal output. They are 18th equal (with 2 other clubs) for goals scored this season. Mata's contract with ST finishes August 2026, though maybe Auckland can negotiate a mutual release at some point.

As usual Bindon provides the good news from the quartet of Kiwis in L1.
Full game in a 2-1 win over Rotherham.

Reading 9th, but only 1 pt off the playoff spots

Cleansheet against the league leaders in a 0-0 draw.
Reading 3 pts off the playoff spots

Should have banged out a few chin ups whilst up there.

02 Mar 11:58
From the corner wrestles his marker to the floor who is all over him, has almost a striker's instinct to quickly side foot a received pass on goal, then when keeper saves that, bangs in the rebound 2nd shot giving the GK no chance.

Kid is class. AWs would do worst than having him backup Wood up front!!

Full game in a 0-0

Reading (8th) can’t seem to get that run of wins they need for a proper tilt at playoff spots. 4 pts off 6th spot.

Via Niche Cache. The Reading fans love Bindon.
I don't think it can be ruled out that he's in Forest's EPL squad next season

Big big result for Reading against the Welsh Hollywood starlets.
Royals win 2-0. They now sit just 2 pts behind Bolton (6th) in the playoff spots.

Reading (8th) reduced to 10 men at 75 mins (2-0) but hold on.

Full game Bindon

A blow to Wrexham (3rd) who are in a battle with Wycombe (2nd) for the 2nd automatic promotion spot. Both 68 pts. Birmingham City (82 pts) runaway league front runners.
12 Mar 20:41

Context being Sam Smith left Reading for Wrexham in a £2 million deal back in January.

Nothing like a bit of cheeky banter between former team mates.

Wrexham 10 points further up the table, and in contention for automatic promotion, so ultimately they might get the last laugh.
