Southee- been boss all tournament. Still, think we can be proud of the lads for getting as far as they did, and as EG said- going the furthest for any non-subcontinent side there.

Huge game tonight. India won the toss and batting. I expect India to go through but it could go either way if Pakistan play to their potential.

Fuck this stupid game

India v Sri Lanka.India good value for the win this morning.
Pakistan dropped Sachin four times.Probably as good a reason as any why they lost.

Should be epic final, quality spell from Riaz

Watched a bit of it last night, surprised India only got 260 considering their start. Also expecting to hear this morning all about crowd riots / flares / stampedes etc but seems like everything was pretty settled.

The two best teams have reached the final IMO and India should win it. They get a few early wickets and SL could be in trouble.

Agree, the best 2 teams have made the final. Only 3 runs between Dilshan and Tendulkar for the top run scorer, the final could be decided by which scores more.

And this could be the final game for both Murli and Tendulkar?

You legend. Thanks!!

Why are you so keen to watch us get spanked?

Because I hate Arsenal.

For all the irrelevant posts you make on here, this has to take the biscuit.

Dude, you just being an ass. All I want is have a look and support our team and not aware of the latest news, or whether they are ahead or behind. You make stupid question, you get a stupid answer. And truly, it's not your fault you support Arsenal (the club, not the poster here because he's cool).

Anyway the Cricket final of India and Sri Lanka is quite exciting. They definitely are the better teams of the tournament.AllWhitebelievr2011-04-02 20:41:43

Sri Lanka have won the toss and are going to bat first. I think they're playing the crusaders theme for the teams walking out.

India need 275 to win. I don't think India are going to be able to get the runs. Dhoni better start packing his bags for a quick escape outta India!

Always under control, I lead my team to victory with 91no off 78; hit a 6 to win the game,

India win by 6 wickets

ICC confirms 10 teams for next World Cup

What a bullshit decision. Lorgat, you are a massive massive cunt. It's a joke that rubbish teams like Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will qualify automatically. What do they bring that someone like Ireland don't?

Irish reactions on twitter

Gary Wilson: What is going on? Excuse the French but that is a sh*t decision! Not a world cup now, just a trophy with 10 teams. Heads up their own a***s

Paul Stirling: @gwilson14 Didn't think u cud get a worse decision than ure lbw gainst the windies... I stand corrected ha!

Trent Johnston: The ICC have certainly made my decision to retire after the 2012 T/20 World Cup very easy, thanks for the memories... #cricket #icc.

Boyd Rankin: Thanks ICC!! What does Irish cricket got to do?? Shambles!!

William Porterfield: Trying to compensate it with 16 teams in the T20, is that cuz they make more dollars by having a few more teams in this format by any chance!!#icc

Niall O'Brien: mate just got of the field and I'm gutted with this news! This could halt the progress of irish cricket beyond repair. So sad now

Barry Chambers (media manager): ICC - no morals - no sense of fair play or natural justice. They are a disgrace and unfit to govern

Lorgat needs to be axed and the decision needs to be reversed.Buffon II2011-04-05 08:55:21

I hope that they go to the format they used when it was here last time. 10 teams, they all play each other then top 4 go to the semis.

If you played two games a night and didn't have 6 days between games it could still all be done in a month. Would be some high quality cricket aswell!

f**k the ICC. Seriously, this is ridiculous. It is the ICC powers pandering to their voting block to maintain there power, while sh*tting on any hope of developing more countries in World Cricket.

I understand wanting to have only 10 teams, thats fine. But if you are going to do that, you have the top 4 at a certain point, plus the hosts, then the next 4 spots are open for qualification.

Right now, Ireland is ranked in the top 10 countries, but the 11th placed country automatically qualify ahead of them. Absolutely crazy. It will be less controversial come 2015 because the Irish will lose a lot of players, and they won't focus on ODI's so will likely drop in the rankings, but it will be because of this decision, not the other way round. ICC corruption > FIFA corruption.

Bingo!

If they staggered the games right, they could possibly even squeeze in three games on some days - a day game here, a day game in Brisbane (No daylight saving) and a day/night game in Perth.

Exactly right - no problem with having 10 teams, but leave 2-4 spots open for qualifying, no free passes for all the test nations.

I don't. It's a World Cup. Not an ICC Elite Cup.

But then this is symptomatic of cricket isn't it? It's always been an exclusive game. Now it's finally crept into the showpiece event.

Three for me, and two for them.

I would prefer 12, I think that is about the right number for cricket, but I can understand why people want 10 - just not this 10 automatically.

It's weird, for the 2019 event the 10 teams will be found through qualification. So why make that event done through qualification but not the 2015 one?

Another note:

The ICC also announced that the new one-day international league due to run between April 2011 and April 2014 will incorporate relegation and promotion from 2019.

The event is to run separately to the Cricket World Cup to add more meaning to 50-over matches outside the tournament.

Thoughts on this captaincy issue?

I'm not really sure who it should go to. But this whole process, or lack of, is starting to fire up a little. Martin Crowe has allegedly resigned from his role and Vettori is backing McCullum. Gotta be careful the team isn't split in two here.

I don't get the angst to appoint the captain NOW. We don't play for around another 6 months, whats the rush, other than the media trying to drive a story of division. We have two reasonably good, experienced candidates, and the coaching panel, the selectors and the board should be able to go through a process over the next month or two to select the captain.

Personally, i'd go with Taylor, but I think either could do a very good job.

He has stated that he would like to play for NZ if selected. Not sure when he's eligible though.

I have no problem with it as it will benefit Wellington Cricket. I think he's a great man despite the fact his action is very dodgy. It's not his fault the rules have allowed him to bowl how he does. It just became to late for the ICC to change them.
