I'm actually going to back North Wellington to win this league. They're a good fighting team.

and good wins too! Scoring plenty and conceeding very little! Not much support for them in this thread though, which is strange because they must be causing some concern and are worth the occasional mention

Peter Ung is turning into a fat pie baker. He is also going to turn himself into blanket man of Melbourne as he blows $3000 at the casino each nite. What do you call a steak and cheese and a, bacon and egg.......?

BNU looked to have picked their game up it seems, beat waterside 3-0 then Petone 3-2

BNU have Waterside this weekend and are sitting at 6th in the table. A win this weekend could put BNU at 4th place, depending on how Petone and Wellington United get on.

I wouldn't quite go that far, after being whipped by Olympic 5-1, we then backed that up by comprehensively beating BNU 5-1 the week after.

I think Olympic are the team to beat, after losing to Naenae by a poxy free kick in the weekend, they aren't that amazing.
The glut in the middle of the table is amazing though, any team can go from 8th to 4th with 1 win.

Seeing Olympics past few results and talking to one of their players regularly it seems they have picked up some players from their first team, even Super Tony in goal?

It is very tight at the middle of the table and even though we are second bottom i reckon we will give a few teams a fright. Although in typical varsity style we have a few (17) out across our first and second teams this week.

Steelo, I know the pain, after playing for Varsities first team for 6 years in Chch, I know the horror of the holidays!
Lose to the bottom team, then beat the top the week after, the Varsity curse

Haha yeah u got it pretty much on the money. Doesnt help that our older players are well paid professionals who can take off to Europe etc  for a month when its starts to get cold. This week will be the 4th different defensive line playing in front of me in 4 weeks.

Hopefully we can shock Olympic for the 2nd time this season though.

well we got back on track with a strong 5-1 win over petone, started with a bit of a messy half 2-1 into the half but in the second half we stepped it up and put them away with some very nice goals including an absolute stunner from our sudanese lad alex.

The ref stole he show in the WU NW game. NW were the better team but the ref ruined what could have been a much better game. He did the same when WU played Naenae a few weeks ago.

Fuck this stupid game

Blew the whistle every 2 mins, wouldn't let the game flow. Gave cards for just about anything (feel sorry for the guys he red carded from NW and Naenae), gave me a yellow for dissent and I didn't even open my mouth lol. Gave us a pen for god knows what and consistantly made poor decisions against both teams in both games...need I say more?

I don't really wanna be bagging a ref and i rarely ever do but sometimes something has to be said.

A card for for being 'decent' or for 'decency' of any kind would be a first. Perhaps you meant 'descent' (ie diving or simulation of some kind)? cant think of anything else ...

My bad. The yellow card was given to me for dissent. Is that clear enough for YOU, now Marius?

Don't worry TL - you're not the only one - about 80% of people on here who complain about getting booked for whinging at the ref were booked for 'descent' as well.

Does seem an appropriate description for diving though!

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Wainuiomata got a scrappy 1-0 win over Petone, thoroughly entertaining game.

our game was completely entertaining, well... it would of been if it had even started! got all the way out there and ref decides the pitch is too unsafe to play on, sand about thirty centimetres deep in the goalbox for goodness sake! surely karori must of known what the pitch was like all week and a transfer could have easily been arranged.

all I can really say is Karori Park: A cock-up of epic proportions.

Sam Buckle, Chris Sperring and Richie Bourke were the stars of a 1-0 win by BNU over Olympic.  Olympic had won eight on the bounce before today.

does that mean that we might hear off Buckle some time soon after going underground with the team flopping of late?

The Junior News and I schelpped all the way to KP to watch the first half before my game.  All I got out of it was a chance to chat with Wingback4eva for about 30 seconds.

Stokes Valley conceded a goal in the final minute to draw 1 all with Welly Utd. Thats 3 weeks runnign now, we have conceded in the final 5 mins to change results of our games

Strange, seems BNU has been on a hot streak ever since we whipped them 5-1, about a month ago
