I think you missed the point. I don't imagine three weeks with no game time for the first team players will be ideal preparation for the wairarapa game - hence why they might get some minutes in the reserve team. Three first team players played against UH on the weekend for example, probably for the benefit of the first team more so than the reserves.

But to risk injury or regrading rules etc would they risk it?

wind was a big factor in the wainui stop out game aswell. Whoever had wind were better off.

close finish at Karori in th end after Wharf woke up for the second half. UH having more to play for so were fired up from the start - whereas it took the Wharf realising they were playing like muppets before they fired up. The wind was probably worth a couple of goals too - all the goals at one end.

W/United still in it but could have a tough time with Mar next week C/L no game, so they can drop three down. money boots may have to strap them on for full 90.

Im interested  in YF thoughts on this. Our keeper goes down with a busted knee (apparently people heard it snap),he was  obviously in a lot of pain and the ambulance was called. The keepers missus comes on to the field to check to see iif he is OK and if he needs anything. The ref tells her to get off. Is that fair? common sense? I know it's probably the rules but I did think the ref was being a bit pedantic.

yeah agree, that was way over the top from the referee. Pretty sure everyone at the ground was concerned for the injured guy except the ref who was just waving his laws of the game book around while the keeper was screaming in pain behind him. The keepers mrs is a physio as well and she ended up having players relay messages from the keeper to her on the bye line by the goal.

Another wtf moment from the ref when wests defender fouled WU winger in the box but ref ruled the foul happened a couple metres back. Even had some wests players having a lol

It is a little unfair to tag them all with that brush.  I've seen some pretty good displays this year with refs understanding the situation and being pragmatic.

Yep fair call, but they are unfortunately few and far between.

Any body know how the wests keeper is? Looked very nasty, the lads said they heard a crack as he landed. Totally agree about the ref, not letting a physio look at what was clearly a terrible injury just goes gainst common sense

where was the trainer/manager/players..did the ref stop play...if people  comes on to the field when there is an injured player where does it stop... surely the player got attention ASAP, and with broken legs  "things" can get out hand quickly depending on the incident

He's had an x-ray and no bones are broken but they think it's his ACL along with cartilage damage.  He's having an MRI scan tomorrow to confirm.  Hoping for the best but expecting the worst unfortunately.

When the ref was quoting regs about only authorised personnel being on the pitch, I made the comment at the time wondering, if someone had needed CPR, whether the ref would have tried to stop an "unauthorised" person coming onto the pitch if they were the only one able to administer it!

i hope western surburbs and maybe even wellington united are putting in a formal complaint regarding yesterdays "officiating" efforts.

Similar thing (though no where near as bad) happend to me when I dislocate my thumb saving a penalty. Girlfriend trotted on when the game was stopped to check on me. Ref was having a laugh with her as I screamed like a girl when I put my thumb back in. Never lived it down either. some refs are great, some are awful and there are a spread in between.

Since your referees stuffed up by not allowing unspecified and self-claimed medical experts to leap into action and rushed on to the field, can you just ban ALL referees from yoru matches? That will solve the aggro towards your referees.

No, what would have saved the "aggro", as you put it, would have been for the ref to apply a little more common sense and understanding given what was clearly a serious injury.  The person who was trying to come onto the pitch was the 'keeper's partner who is a physio.  Admittedly not an orthopaedic surgeon, but probably somewhat more qualified in dealing with said injury than your "average joe".  What were we supposed to do - just leave him lying there until the ambulance arrived?

Come on, oldbastard, how the hell does your referee know that woman is a qualified medical expert or just another tom dick and harry or even someone all high, excited and ready to brawl? Shouldn't that woman expert exhert more common sense, and moer profesionalism, and ask for permisiion first or is that not needed becaue she was there? Perhaps more brain sense rather than emotional sense is needed in a situation like that? Otherwsie, why can't hordes of supporters all race onto the field to help out in the name of "common sense"?

From what I could hear (and I was at the half way line so a little away from the "action"), she repeatedly told the ref that she was a physio (as well as the 'keeper's partner) and wanted to have a look at the situation.  I hardly think that one person coming onto the pitch constitutes an invasion - she was perfectly calm and merely stated that she was a physio (admittedly somewhat more insistently in the end, in response to the stone-walling she was getting from the ref).

You really do like to wind things up don't you?  Sure some people have made some blanket generalisations in relation to this incident about the behaviour/quality of officials across the board (and that's another debate in itself), but those have been countered by others who have more reasonably said that there are some good, some bad and some indifferent.  Instead, you seem to prefer to make quite ridiculous statements suggesting pitch invasions and people ready to have a scrap, when in this instance, nothing could have been further from the truth.  Unless you were there, why not just STFU and stop making inflammatory statements just for the sake of it?  And even if you were there, my opinion in this instance is that the ref got it wrong and showed poor judgement.  That's not damning him or all officials in general just that he was wrong on this occasion, irrespective of the letter of the law.

Its amateur football - why not let the guys partner (physio or not) onto the field to help keep calm someone suffering what sounds like a serious injury, or to help stop them going into shock, once the game has been halted.

Would you have a ref preventing a kids parents coming onto the field if a similar thing happened in (for example) 1st XI football?

Sometimes you have to let common sense prevail over the laws of the game, or you just appear to be a power crazed idiot.
