If Corica complains about the time added on to take the piss out of Veart, he can can have a second game honorary Kiwi from me. First being a point a Hindmarsh with the De Vries/Rogerson combo!
‘They played 2 extra extra minutes after the goal. Mate I can’t understand it. Might call Ange so he can explain it to me. They said 95 minutes. Then we played 97.’

Think we could just kidnap Moreno?
Two visa players off the bench. Smith showing how little the A league is taxing someone who was struggling and not playing in League One. Pijnaker looking like Team of the league material, out of Ireland. Elliott meaning the result’s the same with or without captain Hiroki Sakai.
Are they sleep walking this league? I mean all the late winners help. It’s ridiculous.
Great finish from Moreno. Left footed, hit hard, perfect elevation, bang!

That's where the A-League is. Our top level players are League one/Serie B level. We have players in this league, all the way down to lower semi pro level in Italy or England. I've watched some Brisbane and some Perth this season and thought that they have guys that wouldn't get Pro-contracts in Europe.
It is what it is. But at times, some of the games/goals can be very impressive. I love the A-League.kungfu panda

It looked all on. Only caught around 10 seconds of it. But Moreno was advancing on him with one hand tapping his head calling him mental. The big guy looked like some muscle bound thug from their hooligan bay but I think the commentators said he was their medical guy, was indicating he wanted to fight him outside the stadium. Preety sure that Moreno touched his face

For me, the local league should always be developing the local talent first. What level it is is secondary. People compare too much these days. Of course we'll never compete with European leagues. And we shouldn't

I was just being jealous at their depth- the quality they can afford to bench and the way their defenders particularly are playing above their last level.
Another late winner. Leverkusen vibes about this team.
They could win the minor premiership. Four points from two tough away games back to back across the space of 5 days is impressive.
I do think their wingers are absolutely sharke tbh. Jesse Randall is woeful. By far the worst of all the wingers Auckland have used so far. There’s a problem with Wellington Olympic if that’s the best they have to offer.

Pijnaker started the 2024 LOI with a bang. If he hadn't then got injured he may have been heading over the Irish Sea to a League One club, June/July last year. Auckland signed him in September.
Be interesting to see if either him (age 25) or Dan Hall (also 25) - or both - can get a decent Euro club deal, given Auckland have the best defensive record (GA 11 in 14 games) in the ALM. Would be even better without that 0-4 loss at home to Western United, which on the balance of their season to date was a very bad day at the office.

Ok. I misunderstood. I also think that it's important to nurture local talent. Back when I was young, if you thought that you were good, you had to go and try your luck somewhere else. It's fantastic that the A-League offers a great opportunity in Australia/New Zealand for young players.
Had a scout go to the Irish league to watch him and he had a poor game apparently. But as well with the fans they’ll get a bit more leniency and time here, and maybe there’s a feeling to being at home or playing in 20 degrees, not 5 degrees which makes you play better!

There's a worldwide trend of physios and medical blokes getting far too big heads for their talent.
United vs Rangers match the other day, one of their big brave physios tried chest bump Bruno while they were celebrating. Got humbled when Hojlund removed him with one finger.

Despite a short turnaround since the Christchurch game, CCM played a decent game tonight to draw 2:2 away to Western United (CCM were leading until an equaliser from a wicked free kick in 88th minute).
Roar's next game at Suncorp is 1st of March. If they don't pick up any points, they will have gone a full calendar year without picking up a point in Brisbane.
3rd March 2024 was their last win at home, not even a draw since then.
