It's a foul, but if Elliot stays on his feet and defends instead of going down when he doesn't have to then there's no goal. Should know by now you can't rely on the refs.
AFC just switch off for a moment and it cost them that second goal.
Probably deserve that equaliser though, how is no one marking Rogerson there?

Elliot’s got front position and eyes for the ball. He doesn’t choose to go down.

Yes he does. How he falls is completely unnatural when you look at the contact made. Clearly feels the tug and chooses to go down, although definitely looks worse on the slo-mo.
Shouldn't have been a goal, but it's poor defending.
Valley FC til I die?
I dislike Auckland, but hate the Aussie teams. I guess Auckland is my second team, as brutal as that is to admit.
Love it.
Sorry kiwis all together against Aussie cheats.

Extremely controversial opinion coming:
If it was any other sport or of course the Phoenix, I would absolutely be all in, but since it's AFC, stuff like that costing them points and a chance to go back up top does not bother me.
Okay, now you can slam me.
Great end to the game though.

My thoughts exactly - though I am an Aussie so my opinion doesn't quite matter at this point 😛 Thought it was a fairly reffed match, but the attempt to rule out AKL's first goal was... interesting.

Dukuly is rapid, and being a 2nd half sub (63 mins) was relatively fresh compared to a jaded Elliot.
The young Liberian born winger with his pace & tricky feet made things tough for Callan, as soon as he came on. He'd beaten Elliot once or twice before, and had acres of space when he played the ball past the Nelsonian.
So CE feeling the shirt tug, took a bit of gamble that the ref would whistle the foul. He was tired, and knew Dukuly would be through on goal if he got the ball back. You don't always make the right call, after 80 energy sapping mins. Look at FDV on the other flank. He makes a mistake in the 95th min.
Remembering AFC only played 4 days ago, plus had travel from NZ (via Melbs?). But yeah most times a ref would side with Elliot.
Be interesting to see if Corica rotates some his squad before playing WSW in Sydney on the weekend.

But for the VAR to say look at this, and for him to go, it’s a foul, but not really…that’s an extremely weird take.
It is an illegal action under the laws of the game, but I’m cool with it.
You can understand if he was unsighted or something like that. But he wasn’t.
Was a nice way to set up the final goal, though. Great delivery and header.
Oh my word, WHAT A HIT 🎯🤯 One of the best free kicks you’ll see this season!

Victory Ladies scored another whilst I was out of the room, 2-0
Duncan gets dropped for the returning Langerak. Feels rather harsh considering how well Duncan has been playing.

Mitch Langerak starts for @gomvfc, which means that (including tonight) each of his last 5 @aleaguemen appearances will have been against Sydney FC (Previous games in 2009/10 R27, SF1, SF2 & GF) https://t.co/rOXAiFXfe4#MVCvSYD #ALeague

Despite Duncan's fantastic season so far, he gets dropped for Langerak.

This Big Blue is gonna be an incredible game if it keeps on at this pace. First 10 minutes already end to end with good chances both ways.

Interesting choice by the cove to show up 2 minutes before the women's game ended. feel like they might as well have not shown up at all but to each their own
Double headers are awkward for active support. The early game cuts deep into drinking time.

2 draws so far and potentially a third with Adelaidies and Western United at 1-1. So next game will be a 4 all draw?
I am again wearing my mel c hat for this one.

5 games, 4 draws, one win (Macarthur) and one red card (Jets player got a second yellow).

No Gillion. Injured?
On the bench, second game in a row
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
I haven't seen much of Gillion but from what I have seen, he's to slow to be a winger. Maybe he's got technicals that I haven't picked up on yet.
Randall is like another version of Gillion but with less pace and skill.
A very frustrating player to watch who ultimately will not score or assist.
I hope they sub him quickly after half time and bring on Moreno or the new signing

Think you need your eyes tested.

That's sure. I'm an old man.

He's absolutely rapid. Good quick feet too.
Just can't score, assist or make that final pass/decision that would make him a real killer. That should come with experience though.
I think the word 'selfish' would probably best sum up his performances in blue and black so far. Potential is there, but just lacking that polish.

I was trying to watch him closely against Perth. He was comfortably outpaced by their young center defender.
I never thought that he posed Perth any threat.

He reminds me of an old Aberdeen striker by the name of Darren Mackie. Pace to burn but couldn’t hit a cow with a barn door. Only score 50 goals despite pretty much being a one club man (over300 apps). Scored some important goals over time, but ultimately shark.
