Great work from Mata and De Vries

Dammit- with Smith, Rogerson and Mata and all the Kiwis in the starting line up, these guys are definitely my second team, on a guest contract basis.

To have perservered through cold, muddy nights losing in league one to come back and getting amongst it on a nice summer’s day at home in front of Kiwi fans.

This Danaskos too? Looks like Moreno has got involved in the defense and just kicked ikonomidis.

Ref managed to see this one. Oh- not given actually, sorry!

Ah. It’s the moustache. Weirdly didn’t list the ref in the app I check with. Think it usually does.

Sorry RR, it wasn’t given. A make up call from VAR King? Brattan looks pissed going off for halftime.

Goal came from a header saved, but put away on the rebound.

And Elliot subbed on for Nando.

Watching a bit behind the action.

Looking at the replay of Macarthur's penalty shout - Moreno only makes contact with the foot of the Macarthur player, not close to the ball - Not sure how it wasn't given, especially from the VAR who had great angles to work with

14,051 attendance apparently - they're doing pretty well to be consistently getting around 14k

Not suggesting they have fudged this particular crowd number but some things they have done regarding crowd numbers in the past, makes me take them with a pinch of salt. 1-1

Quite like the refs letting things run more. Has been consistent and games flowing better

Why's Gillion not playing/not even coming on as an impact sub? Falling out with the coach?

Seems odd to me.

I know people say he can't shoot/score and doesn't great decision-making. I tend to strongly disagree on this, and still believe he is one of the most creative and talented players in NZ/the entire A-league.

Slight injury, perhaps?

14k in season 1 with the novelty factor, top of the table. Should be 20k...

I guess it shows once things have settled down in a few years and they hit a rough patch performance wise they'll probably be getting crowds similar to ours.

Wish Verstraete got that yellow against Western instead

Edit: Just spelt Verstraete's name correctly - didn't want a yellow card myself

Why so negative man? Why can’t we celebrate NZ football doing well rather than hoping for their fan base to dwindle in the future?

I watched the full game and it was an excellent entertaining 100 min of football. Both attacking sides, strong defensively, good tempo and few errant passes on both sides.  Probably draw worthy, but Auckland prevailing due - I think - to a more consistent high tempo. Macarthur were a bit up and down but a constant threat nonetheless.
Surprisingly quiet game from Brattan - amazing what an early yellow card can do to his temperament.
Well done Auckland against a good team.

Tense game. Probably however Auckland had the better chances and deserved the win.

Would have been filthy however if I was an opposition fan with that penalty. It’s a penalty any day of the week and this bull shark of VAR having different angles is just that - bull shark. Saying that they scored in the next play so guess it worked out square.

Auckland haven’t had a penalty in 15 games so must be due one in the derby

Auckland will rise once more
