Would have been a bit of a misdirect for Foley last week to say he thought "Black Knights" would be the nickname only for it to end up as the actual name.
I wonder how these were shortlisted? Thye all seems to be variations of the same thing, bar Auckland Volcanoes. Where is the nod to NZ history? (Knights/z) You'd have to ignore Black Knights FC as no mention of Auckland. They all seem pretty meh to me, but they'll never be my team so what do I actually care
I just read the stuff article ahead of the 2pm announcement and they said that players will not be announced. But for over a month they've been saying at least 7 signings will be announced? Seems a bit of a missed opportunity to just give us a name and a shirt design.

I don't think the club ever said that signings would be announced at the launch, although I agree that it is a missed opportunity to open with a marquee or two. But plenty at least in Australian circles will still be under contract and therefore not really able to be announced just yet.
Drip feed the good news to remain in the public eye is likely the strategy.

Yep, and the club will want to time the news to create momentum into the next season. Too early and everyone would've forgotten. Need to time it right to sell season tickets.

When I look up that instagram handle all I can see is a private account with 2 followers?
AKLFootball24 changed their IG handle to AucklandFC24 briefly this morning before changing it back.
In the meantime it looks like someone has then snaked in and taken the AucklandFC24 handle, hence that's what you'll be seeing. Although he's up to 8 followers now. 😂

As Christo pointed out on Twitter, it's a shield, Knight's helmet grill, volcano mash up. The logo looks better once I had that pointed out, I just hate the blue on black.
The whole league was from that template back then though right? AKL on the other hand had free reign and came up with ... that. It's not heinous but it is meh...
