Well speaking for myself, it's taken until now to get back to Jaffaland. Torrential rain driving south ... Pre & post match Welly festivities... freezing winds... SH1 closed between Taupo & Tokoroa... Knackered.
Somehow dont think your the type of poster Noah4the nix was referring to.

So a loss of concentration from Josh. Gotta do better next time and we’ve got to give him a margin for error by taking more of our chances so it’s 2 or 3 we’re up by in the 88th minute. I’d help with the celebrations, shirts off etc for us too tb sure…

Every single goalkeeper will cost their team at some point during their career. It is inevitable.

Three for me, and two for them.

If that’s a one and done I’m happy! lol them into a sense of security.

There was a keeper in one of the other A league games who had 2 or 3 dodgy efforts this round! WSW v Adelaide…

Tho this kinda off topic sorry my bad

such a long time in between games. Don’t fancy bye rounds? Do we still get 3 points like the teams in league?

Confirmation of Auckland's Talent Development Pathway, with an initial 15 clubs signed up under the 'Rebel Sport Development Centre' which will kick off in 2025.

As I think Chopah commented on previously, it does at face value seem a smart development approach, keeping young talent mostly at their TDP clubs. Helps that you have about 2M people living within 2-3 hours of Auckland, so you have alot of potentially talented youngsters, you can monitor reasonably easily. Hold some quality summer camps around the local traps. Keeps the local clubs happy not dragging away their best 13-17 yr olds

Very different for the Nix who had (have) kids in the Academy from all over. As far away as Dunedin, Wanaka, ChCh, Nelson, New Plymouth etc.

Apparently playing East Coast Bays again next weekend. Played them once before in a pre season friendly.

I guess an Auckland City verus Auckland FC game ain't ever gonna happen. Bit of bad blood there?

But Auckland City also didn't play Auckland FC, during what is a long ALM preseason.

City have been NZ's dominant domestic club for over a decade. You'd think they are the one local club side AFC would really want to play. Most of their friendlies against Northern Region clubs have been scheduled midweek.

You can't tell me City's Ivan Vuksich wasn't at least a little bit miffed, that he has been completely overlooked for any role with Auckland's new A League club.

Not surprising being overlooked though is it? He was involved with the other Auckland bid alongside Alex Sipka. In fact they're still registered under Auckland FC Limited via the companies office...

Very strong Croatian roots via Central United/ACFC as well, so although AFC have been schmoozing other clubs around the Auckland scene, I don't recall once seeing Central United/ACFC being mentioned. Whether that's by design or not, or whether they don't want any association to be made between the two, well, there's only a few people who could tell you that for sure.

Second Auckland team for the expanded league? Could have a bigger catchment than WU and man, that derby would really bite! Save on transport- only a couple of fare zones.

Little early to be asking for a second team in Auckland, they've barely even proven they can be here long term. Maybe the city has the population to support it but the money? questionable. Any expansion in NZ should go to Chch or a combined south island team.

Maybe in 10-20 years as the city continues to grow. And like the rugby split years ago you’d base a 2nd team on the North Shore.

Yeah could see a North/south Auckland split working. But like you say that's at least 10 years away.

Living on the northern side of the Harbour Bridge I'm not sure you would ever consider North Harbour Rugby a successful exercise.
Maybe in the early days but their crowds , etc ., are pitiful.
Many years back there was also talk of a North Harbour first class cricket side playing out of North harbour stadium. That didn't progress very far.
North Harbour stadium will probably be in apartments in 10-20 years anyway.

Could very well be a holding name for this Oceania Pro League.

Although the company behind it was founded prior to any chatter surrounding a professional football league in Oceania.

Just a thought anyway.

Given the demographics of the greater Shore area, I wouldn't be surprised if playing numbers wise at least, football was a long way ahead of rugby in popularity.

But yeah the next NZ A League club if it happens will be based in Christchurch. Pragnell has already said as much. Be interesting to know if there have been any serious talks between NZ, Mainland Football & APL about that, given the early success of Auckland.

ChCh will soon have the stadium. Just add American billionaire. Maybe there is someone over there who can't stomach the thought of 4 years of D Trump, and for whom Canada is too cold.

And as we know the Shore is impossible to get to from Auckland, so that would make it more difficult. Probably at least 3 fare zones.

I was thinking more an Inter/Milan type situation…

No you want a clear geographical split, like how WSW's fan base is clearly different to most of Sydney FC's supporters (eastern/seaside burbs). That's the best derby in the ALM, and the Wanderers have been the greatest success as a new expansion club (fans wise anyway). Auckland FC will likely challenge that honour

It's all moot anyway, as a 2nd Auckland club is years away if ever from being a possibility.

I agree with the overall tone that finishing any major infrastructure in my hometown is the actual hard part compared with finding an American billionaire at a loose end what to do with his money.

But the chap with the money and the potential grudge is based at Auckland City and Central?

WSW exists because there is a strong football community and local identity.
WU in Melbourne isn’t working out too well yet despite physical distance on a map.

Anyway mostly a lot of piss taking by me based on what people have said on here before.

Geez a fit Champness would give Auckland some serious depth.

I saw some thing where they're going to be running "tailgate parties" before all their home games. Yeah, good to engage the general public and attract casuals or whatever but why do they insist on bringing in bollocks American sharke into football?

So driving your ute or car, onto one of the Mt Smart backfields (or surrounding streets), firing up the BBQ and having a few beers?

Sounds like fun to me. What other name would you call it if not a 'tailgate party'?

Is one benefit of playing out of a suburban type stadium like in Penrose, rather than a downtown CBDish ground like Sky with limited parking.

It's actually something the South Africans do well also I noticed when travelling there, and going to a few big rugby games. The pre game braais start hours before kick off. Then post match at Kings Park in Durban on the surrounding rugby grounds they had temporary bars, music stages, folks mingling around their bakkies & cars with beers in the open boot etc. Might have been a way to also keep lots of drunken fans safe as well, with security staff galore, and the whole area surrounded with high fencing, topped with razor wire!

Sounds like a load of fun, and why not start a 'new tradition' for football in Auckland. So what if its done elsewhere in the world? If it attracts the punters and keeps crowds large for AFC's home games that's a win.

In all seriousness, the nix could do something similar on the concourse to the stadium. But I'd expect the stadium would not agree as it would reduce their chance to extort people once in the stadium.
